They addressed this a few months ago. Wear the spektar (however you spell it) class item from the faction.

Right, but if you have no Spektar class items, you're still stuck. Even if you select the Chroma from your faction (which I just did), they gave me a Year 3 class item. And I'm not spending 20 bucks to buy Treasure boxes just to get some silver, just to buy engrams that may or may not be a class item. Just allow year 3 items to count and it saves a lot of us the frustrations.
