Okay, you've got your hate beam pointed slightly off. The problem isn't the breed of dog, its the breed of OWNER. violent pitbulls are generally owned by people who want a dog to be violent. If you wiped pitties from the earth, they'd find another breed. Matter of fact, this same trend went on with mastiffs, doberman pinschers, etc. I've personally known pitbulls who went their entire lives as gentle, loving dogs living with good families.
tl;dr The blame belongs to people who turn their dog into a
weapon, not the breed. Think bigger.

You missed my point. I didn't suggest that you want them dead. But you still don't get that its the mentality of the owner who seeks out a pit that makes the dog dangerous. I could go on about this, but I have a much better idea. If you have cable TV, go watch the program Pitbulls and Parolees. You'll have a chance to see the side of the breed the news and the stereotype don't ever show you.

That was a hypothetical statement. If you took it to mean that I really thought that of you, then I apologise. It was meant to suggest that the kind of owner who wants a "tough" breed would find another if pits were gone, so the pit breed in particular is irrelevant to the real problem; owner mentality. After all, in your own case, what kind of person watches their dog kill another animal and isn't affected?

That's good to know. Dogs really are molded by their environment, like children, and are individuals with distinct personalities. On a side note, I do hope the cat owner prosecuted the scum bags whose dog did that. I am a dog and cat owner and something like like that makes my blood boil.
