This is a tough one. There are definitely injustices in America against black people. There's definitely a disproportionate bias against them, and it's effected their minds as a community of people for sure.
"... it's final report found similar problems, including blacks facing disproportionately high unemployment, lower income levels, less access to education, problematic access to quality health-care services and the high incidence of certain health conditions, electoral disenfranchisement and structural issues in the administration of justice (in particular incarceration rates).”
These are all true. BUT. There's also a cultural disenfranchisement amongst black people, particularly black youth that rebels against the establishment. They're young and pissed off and they revolt against a system that they can actually be using to help themselves.
The way I see it, you can either trudge through adversity or you can spend your whole life playing the victim role. I know what I'd choose.
Woah, woah, woah. Hang on a minute. Now I don't get into these things but dang, we give them a whole month of celebrating their history.
Also we weren't the first to enact slavery. The Europeans should also have to do this as well. Technically Africa too, they had slavery as well
Slavery started in Sumeria. Was extremely prevelant in Africa. Many countries at times had 1/3 of their population as slaves in africa ALL over africa. Slavery is still going on there to this day
But lets focus on the people who fought to end slavery
So dumb. I guarantee they would ignore irish for reperations even though they were slaves here. Also how about instead of focusing on slavery that happened in the past in the US they go and stop slavery that is STILL going on in Africa oh but wait then how would they blame white people and make us pay for more things
I'll go ahead and say sure to memorials. Why not? There was plenty of suffering and we build memorials to other events of human suffering. Reparations though? No. That is where I draw the line. I have never owned a slave. I have never lynched a person. I should not have to pay for a sin that is not mine.
What about Africa paying reparations for enslaving them in the first place? Oh wait in the modern PC world we never discuss slavery outside the US, we just pretend it never happened.
What about the Dutch? Or the English? Hell what about all the Africans trading their own? Not the Arabs that came down to trade either?
Why is it only America must pay?
