They didn't confirm a chest at all. In typical Bungie fashion, they gave a vague answer and passed the buck. I'm pretty sure Bungie is a small branch of the government. They take your money, provide you with services less than expected, and when you ask for something, they either ignore you, or beat around the bush for 6 months. Dont do VoG because there [i]might[/i] be something else to find, but because its actually fun.
