I've deployed twice to that hole, there was absolutely no point to it.

-blam!- with the best, die like the rest

Iraq didn't -blam!- with the US

Stupid liberal hippie

Thousands of US troops dead, many more dead Iraqis, and the US is still having to get involved to clean up its own mess. All for an illegal war that had no justification. By all accounts, that invasion was quite likely the single worst foreign policy decision in US history.
-
No. That would be vietnam.
-
No not at all. Vietnam was really pointless (except for those who heavily subscribed to NSC-68), but the conflict there didn't cause any lasting security issues of the sort created by the 2003 Iraq conflict.
-
That's because Vietnam only had control in one place. And I feel the security issues were from civilians in the US. because the soldiers coming back were treated so terribly. There were no open arms And "Thank you for your service." They came back to "kill yourself " "baby killers" "drug addicts" And "I Hope you die".

-
That depends on perspective though.
-
It really doesn't. I can't think of really any lasting security issues from the Vietnam conflict. Saddam's ouster meanwhile: --threw Iraq into chaos as the coalition removed Baath members entirely from public service. Given that being a member was pretty much a prerequisite for governmental service, that meant a whole lot of people out of jobs that now needed to be filled. And their rival sect then took over with vengeful intent. --Opened the door for al-Qaida in Iraq to grow. It was formed as the invasion was about to begin and increased in size rapidly as an anti-occupier militia. It later joined other insurgents in forming the Islamic State in Iraq, which has by 2015 captured swathes of land in both Iraq and Syria. --Exacerbated sectarian tensions to the extent that many of the conflicts currently in the region are being looked at through the lens of sectarianism. --(arguably) set the Arab Spring in motion. The downfall of Iraq's strongman sent shockwaves across the region as other states attempted to rid their respective strongmen from power. Though it began with noble intentions, the Arab Spring failed. Even best-case scenario Tunisia is not much better off. Libya, Yemen, Syria, and to an extent Egypt are paying the consequences.

I'm not saying that the stuff with the current wars haven't had any effects.
-
They had wmd's, and attacked USA soil. Try again liberal hippie
-
They didn't have WMD, they never attacked American soil. You prob were like 5 years old when that war began so please read up on your history before spouting bs. :)
-
They had WMDs, just not nukes
-
The UNSCOM team fundamentally disarmed Iraq in the 90's. The tiny percentage of stuff they didnt find was some nerve agents that had a shelf life of 2-3 years and things like that. So it would have all been useless by the time the Iraq war came around. Condaleeza Rice and others in the administration kept using the phrase " We can't wait for the smoking gun to come in the form of a mushroom cloud" that obviously implies that he had nukes, which was totally untrue. Bush also told the lie in his SOTU about Iraq trying to buy aluminum tubes from Niger. When Ambassador Joseph Wilson came out and said this was a blatant lie they leaked the identity of his undercover CIA operative wife to the press. The lead up to the war was filled with lies and scare tactics. It cost of trillions of dollars and it thousands of lives. Not to mention over half a million Iraqi casualties.
-
Im not disputing that. The war was bullshit and unjustified
-
They never had any WMDs!
-
We've been through this. They did not attack US soil. Get that through your thick skull you troll.
