The dangers of the nerf train...

I'm going to keep this brief, but feel free to expand on my point. I played Dust 514 back before that company screwed us over, so I've had some time to observe. Players like to feel like they are "investing" in their characters. When they upgrade an item, they like to think they are improving it for the long term, not just until the next update hits at which point they start over. The danger is that when people feel proud of a weapon only to have it nerfed too many times, they start to feel that it is all "temporary" and become careful shoppers. To this day I believe I have millions of dollars I never spent in Dust because of nerfs. Too many nerfs make people stop and think "well this gun is the best in the game right now, which is great, but does that mean it will just get nerfed next week? Would I actually be smarter to buy the SECOND best gun in case the #1 gets nerfed?" They just start hoarding their money, and stop feeling compelled to "progress" since it could be taken away next update. And then they stop playing. So be careful bungie. Balance is important, but nerfs alienate the players who care the most.
