Final Edit:
Bungie has confirmed in the weekly update they lied but show no remorse or plan of action to make things right. Bungie has officially gone down the shitter and all that will be left is a toilet full of noobs! I'm about down with these assholes!

Edit 5:
DeeJ will be addressing this problematic situation tomorrow. Hopefully, he will reveal an update coming detailed with changes and an apology.
Edit 4:
So some of you still question the experienced players understanding that the Iron Banner is a hoax. This will shut you up for good.
Bungie fix this shit ASAP!!!
WTF!

Edit 3:
I just went into Iron Banner with my level 4 Warlock and got 10 kills vs a team of all 25+ level Guardians. I didn't even have a heavy weapon equipped and our team was outmanned 3 to 6 for half the match. If you still don't think this is a hoax of an event than I don't know what other proof you need. I didn't even have a shotgun. I had a sniper rifle which I didn't use the whole match. Just ran around killing people with my 26 auto rifle. This Iron Banner is a joke and a slap in the face to all Legends who have put in countless hours building their Guardian.
Edit 2:
So many of you were asking for proof since you refused to accept the multiple reports of this falsely advertised Iron Banner. Well, here you go.

Edit 1:
Ok. Let me just clear some things up real quick. This post was made out of anger obviously because of how big of a let down this Iron Banner has been with all the hype Bungie put forth with it. I really do enjoy playing the game and that's why it's so frustrating to me because there is so much potential but they keep coming up short constantly. It's like they took a step back in the FPS game world and left so much on the table. You would think there is only one or two people making decisions about this game and they don't know what they are doing. The good news is they have a chance to redeem themselves because actual gameplay is rock solid. It's just a shell right now and need to listen to the hardcore gamers suggestions to make it better instead of the casuals who are just satisfied with mediocre options.
As far as Iron Banner goes, the proof is in the pudding. I have played multiple more games since original post and nothing has changed from my stance and many others. It's just a normal crucible control match where everyone is the same with except maybe a max of 1% difference in damage or armor. As a 29 Titan with a 1390 defense, I shouldn't be able to be killed by a lvl 13 guardian with 2 shots from a shotty 20 feet away. It just does not make sense the way they claim armor and weapons are so important. If you are a level 13 and try to kill a 20+ PVE enemy, good luck. You will probably have to use 2 rockets, all sniper ammo, and multiple clips of primary to get him down.
There is no reason anyone should support this Iron Banner the way it is now. This is not what we expected nor do we want. We want to feel powerful if we find a weak guardian who has yet to explore Venus and still stuck on the Moon. That level 13 should get absolutely wrecked with a one shot from my Last Word that's fully maxed and he better have a full amount of heavy if he wants to have any chance.
If you still disagree with this, then I don't know what else to say. Maybe ask some of your friends for their opinions since your mind obviously made up or your head is too far up Bungie's ass to know the difference.
Original Post:
Look, don't get me wrong. I like to play this game and enjoy it but seriously, what is up with all the lies.
Iron Banner in Destiny's words quote for quote:
"LEVEL ADVANTAGES ENABLED"
"Equip your most powerful gear. The Attack and Defense ratings for your weapons and your armor will be crucial to victory."
This is 100 percent false. The attack ratings and defense ratings have 0 effect on the Iron Banner. I was dealing same damage and receiving same damage from people under level 20. I'm a 29. In PVE, any character below a 28, I can one shot kill with my Last Word. Not near the case here. NO DIFFERENCE THAN NORMAL CRUCIBLE AT ALL. Any PVE character below a 20 level would need to shoot me about 20 times before I die. Not here. NO DIFFERENCE THAN NORMAL CRUCIBLE AT ALL. Bungie even has the nerve to show you a picture right next to the quote with a guardian and his attack and defense ratings. What a f'n joke.
Oh wait. Here is a great quote from DeekJ.
"Bring your deadliest weapons. Equip your sturdiest armor. The Iron Lords are seeking the most powerful warriors who call the city their home. For those brave enough..."
LOLOL He should have just said "Equip your uncommon helmet with your common gauntlets and your 26 attack auto rifle and be prepared to feel like you have the same strength as someone with all legendaries and one exotic..." That would have been a truthfull statement compared to this bullshit.
Oh wait I almost forgot another lie by DeekJ.
"The ratings on your gear will make all the difference! Unlike the other competitive playlists in Destiny, Iron Banner is not a level playing field."
Did you not f'n have anyone test this shit? Holy shit balls. What is going on with this company? Is it run by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles with Michaelangelo at the helm? That is a straight up lie that you told the community. What another let down this game has delivered to us.
Can't wait till December so we can play the rest of the game that's already on the disc. Should be fun. Hip hip hooray!
Great comment by Kolossal Squid:
If the Iron Banner was the event Bungie said it was going to be it would really be an event only for the hardcore gamers that have spent so much of their time playing Destiny because they love the game. They are angry because they have devoted so much time into a game they love and this event was supposed to be their moment for Legendary glory. Lvl 16 players can't play Vault of Glass, so they shouldn't be able to kill a Lvl 29. That's why those guys that have reached that level are so upset. They dedicated to work at something they love and Bungie put Noobs at the same playing field. I have nothing but respect for those that have blistered their thumbs and blood shot their eyes grinding at Destiny. Bungie should be ashamed they let down this part of their fan base. Everyone else will get their event, but this was supposed to be for the truly legendary.
Could not have said it any better.

Изменено (CartersLegacy): 10/8/2014 6:02:40 PMThis is the best and most accurate forum post on iron banner Its a joke thats hardly any differnece at all and is such a letdown :(

The only reason I've been playing Iron Banner lately is for any good drops. But even when I get positive K/D every game, I get next to nothing whilst the idiots and as such are rewarded with anything or everything. I swear the RNG Gods love my suffering!
-
Bungie news anymore is disappointing, just like 50% of game
-
9 отв.I went into Iron Banner, expecting to be disappointed, and boy was I wrong. With my level 28 Hunter, I dominated! It finally felt like it was worthwhile being a Hunter, like I could actually contribute to my team's victory. I also noticed that my exotic and Legendary Weapons killed enemies a lot faster than in normal Crucible.
-
3 отв.Изменено (TH3xCHIN): 10/8/2014 3:52:22 PMI agree with you to a point. I'm only level 25, and in normal crucible I do fairly well, achieving more positive KD's and in top three. In IB, I always have a negative KD. Once I broke even. And I can't get nearly as many kills. I do agree that I am able to kill higher levels faster than I thought I would, but man I die way faster than I normally do in crucible. I have been one shot from a good distance by a number of guns, and three shotted by many others. So I do agree, is lower levels can kill you higher ups faster than expected, however, I die a ton more, and a lot faster.

I suspect you have yet to master the "headshot".

then stop playing if you are so fed up with it.

1 ответИзменено (ZEE THE CEO): 10/8/2014 7:11:03 PMIn my humble opinion, the OP is taking things a tad bit too serious. I can understand being disappointed, but what's even more of an issue is the manner in which it is being addressed. All the accusations, name-calling, profanity and disrespect. The way to accomplish anything is through respectful dialogue. And then to call DeeJ a liar on top of that, which is attacking his character? To me, that is far more alarming than what is being said about Bungie. You need to learn the art of communication. If ever wanting to accomplish something, it will be through civil, respectful and meaningful discourse. Not foolishness such as this. If you have concerns, in a MATURE manner list them and I'm sure Bungie will take them into account. But rants, hatred, name-calling and such, I'm sure they will gladly ignore.
-
3 отв.Is it still RNG? I figured I'd try it tonight at work... using remote play on a laggy network. I might as well be AFK, but if the loot drops there's worse ways to spend my time! Besides I'm so bad at PVP anyway it shouldn't make much of a difference.
-
Somebody needs to learn to hit people in the face more often.
-
I think that level advantages refer to attack and defense values, not your level difference, so level differences shouldn't mean what they do in PvE. However, that it's consistent across the board with enemies implies that armor value doesn't matter, at the very least, and it's probable that attack value doesn't either. Pretty sure that this isn't a lie, though, just a glitch. It's one that Bungie should fix, and then they should give us another week of Iron Banner, but I think it IS a glitch. It's not like the game lacks any system for accounting for attack/defense differences, it just doesn't usually use them in the Crucible.
-
Some low level player got you with a shotty? Sorry, but it happens. If you'd had your blue bar shield thingy up, you'd have survived and wrecked the little guy. Low level Titans with that buff were eating my fusion rifle, my melee and then killing me with their shotguns. Frankly, I feel like I do *ok* in Iron Banner compared to the crucible. Mostly due to it matching me with other people that suck. I'm not sure if it was coincidence or not, but the matchmaking in IB seems a lot more balanced around k/d ratios. If I do better, the next game is harder. If I do worse, the next game is full of low 20s in blues. Also, I've yet to see anyone above 27 or anyone with some serious legendary/exotic weapons. So maybe it is taking pity on me.

Holy hell I'm gonna have to come back to read this

For anyone that didnt watch the video its legit. Which really sucks.

Изменено (XxSPRITZxX): 10/8/2014 3:58:20 PMI personally don't support the Iron Banner. What happened to "Testing Your True Skills"? I went in last night (I'm an okay shot) and got a decent amount of kills on lvl 24+ ending up with around 20 kills and like 9 deaths. Here's where it kills me... Killing a level 5-11 took as much as it would take to kill a 24-29?!! On top of that those lower levels (15 and below) can kill anyone 21+ easily?? A level 11 shot me with his Uncommon Auto-Rifle with just a couple of shots... It took a 28 about 6-9 shots to the face with his exotic to kill me!! I think Iron Banner should only be for 20+ since the rewards are legendary. I just think Bungie screwed up with the Iron Banner. It was better in the BETA!! **It's as if they buffed the lower levels to be able to fight us... Thats not how the Iron Banner works!!**
-
Изменено (ravingdragoon): 10/8/2014 4:03:47 PMI think the issue is that there is a severe imbalance between armor and weapon ratings when it comes to PvP. Our "best" armor is nothing to even a decent weapon. That said there is a definite difference between IB and normal Crucible. I am able to kill people a lot easier with my 27 defender Titan in IB than I am in normal crucible modes. Also I think that in the case of IB "level advantages" do not include light rating, why would light help you kill other guardians, so you are actually a lvl 20 vs a lvl 13. In PvE it would still be impossible for a lvl 13 guardian to damage a lvl 20 enemy, but at least this explains away a little bit of the difference.
-
Im gonna go buy a common(white) weapon and see if there's a difference in the iron banner, I've been thinking about doing this

3 отв.Изменено (Cordic_Cyberpunk): 10/8/2014 8:14:28 AMI am a lvl 29 Warlock and lvl 6 mobs can allmost kill me the same as lvl 28. bungie has no clue wtf they are doing. And this crap where guns do different damage based on the lvl on enemy your fighting is broken. My maxed out legendary AR was doing 160 damage to a lvl 24 then was doung 53 damage per bullet to a lvl 28 mob. Wtf is wrong with bungie??? The dose not think the gun should do what it dose everytime not have mood swings based on the enemy its hitting.Destiny has the worst loot system and damage calculator i have ever seen. In fact i can not get back to log in for more then 5 minutes without being pissed at how obviously broken most things are. Destiny is a very stunning visualy thats it. The rest is absolute shit. They did not want 1000 hr grinds my fukn ass. Loot system in destiny should be illegal and exotics are way to under powered except for the Vex Fusion rifle thats a main weapon.bungie sold us less then 20% of a game! Any laws against that!!!!!!!

Good post...Although I would say the whole game is a lie. When they lost Activision on this project they lost the dream. The game is so poorly designed, lacking and flawed that I can't even think of grabbing any of the DLCs, not unless it opens the game up 100% And even then I am doubtful because every time I get an update for this game my Crucible and Vanguard leveling gets reset. All these issues should have been resolved in the beta.. My expectations were high because they hyped this game up and made us all fools of advertising....I was expecting more of a solar system/universe feel not just 3 planets and a moon with recycled missions not to mention next to zero storyline and . If they don't make some serious changes soon this game will disappear as fast as it came out. On top of my level reset frustration I find this game is getting boring already to the point that I am already thinking of selling my copy or at the very least trading it in for a real game. 10 year life cycle what a joke.

I can't believe you can complain that much.
-
It does honestly feel like normal crucible to me as well. If you're going to advertise a game mode as having level advantages enabled, then a guy 5 levels under you shouldn't even be able to do anything to you similar to the way level differences apply against PVE mobs. There's a reason Iron Banner is a separate choice from regular Control. It's suppose to be unfair for those who are poorly geared or low level. I honestly didn't care for Iron Banner, even before it was released, but at least make it what it claims to be. I care for it even less now that it's just another Control mode that gives very tiny advantages to higher level/better geared players. I guess I'll just do it for the bounty XP though.

12 отв.This. Many ppl, myself included, are enjoying Destiny as much as possible. Before, when someone was complaining about this or that, I was quick to jump to Bungie's defense, due to the fact that I believed that many of the problems and complaints that Destiny got was due to mass over-hyping and bloated expectations, when in reality a lot of the things ppl expected were not realistic and the game was still young. This perspective in mind, I tried my best to play off the lackluster events that Bungie has been having- Combined Arms (which is basically just Bastion and First Light played over and over again), Queen's Wrath (Story Missions with different modifiers and bounties with different objectives) and focus instead on the things that they were doing right- adding new games modes like Salvage (which I actually enjoy a lot) and end game like Vault of Glass, which at least poses some form of challenge and endgame to players and is its own unique piece of content unto itself (not some rehashed version of something we'd already been playing). Now, granted that Iron Banner had a chance to hit the nail on the head and offer both a newer type of game mode, as well as offer a type of "end game" for pvpers, I, like many others was pretty excited about it. Its not so much the fact that the changes aren't exactly what we expected them to be, or that people are mad because they suck at pvp and wanted to lean on their higher levels/equipment to make up for their lack of skill. No. Its that Bungie advertised one thing, and then gave us another. Not only that, but what they gave us is hardly any different from something we already had, and can even be argued to be worse. How can it be seen as worse? Its pretty much just regular crucible BUT you are limited to playing ONLY CONTROL and ONLY the winning team can earn rep for the event. I like pvp as much as anyone, and I really don't mind the fact that only the winners are awarded... but looking beyond the surface of this game mode they should have realized that playing the same thing over and over again can get pretty stale, especially if its not the "new game mode" it was advertised to be. They also should have realized the amount of rage quit that would occur once people learned that only winners were awarded event rep and taken counter measures against it- either punishing quitters via a cooldown per quitting on purpose, a loss of rep or whatever. Or they could've even taken it the other way and just granted losers a much lower amount of event rep so they'd at least stick around. As it is, you rarely even see fully played or competitive iron banner matches, because people leave once they see that they are losing by a certain amount. Ignoring the shattered expectations that people had that their gear would make more of a difference- or at least a more noticeable one- the mode itself is lazily made and lackluster. Would it have been so hard to make it the pvp equivalent of the strike playlist and just assign a random game type per match as opposed to having it being control over, and over, and over, and over again? Why isn't the gear difference more noticeable? Wasn't that the whole schtick about Iron Banner? That was what got people excited. Sure, some because they'd get to roflstomp the unsuspecting noobs that dared to enter the mode despite it being what it was, but many others because it gave them a chance to see how much all their work and gear progression mattered. It was the pvp equivalent of Vault of Glass and endgame is how I saw it. You didn't just go in there with sub par gear and guns blazing and expect to beat it. You worked to make sure you had the best possible equipment possible, and then combined that along with your own personal skill to beat it. You needed both together to triumph. Thats exactly how I thought Iron Banner would be. A place for people who could take the equipment they'd worked so hard on and combine all of the skill and experience they'd grinded out in the various crucible modes and combine the two together to take Destiny PvP to a whole new level. It would be the ultimate mode and form of end-game pvp for those who loved the pvp aspect of the game more than the pve aspect, and who wanted to test themselves against players of higher calibur. It would give people who weren't as interested in doing Vault of Glass a reason to still go through gear progression and something to work towards. It'd give a whole new dimension to Destiny and possibly even make up for the lack of some key components that most other fps games have (leaderboards, ranking system, private matches etc). Hell it'd be something fun and new to do if anything and that can go a long way. But alas... its none of those things. At its best, its simply "Control" awarding a new form of rep to buy things that weren't previously in game. At its worse well.. its simply control, with one team sitting there waiting for the time to run out because everyone has quit or players just not really touching the game mode at all because I mean.. playing the same thing over and over again no matter how much you like the game does get tired after awhile. I really want to love Destiny. I try my hardest to and give it credit when I can. But some of the decisions here.. they just seem to lack any foresight and come off as lazy. Why even create "new modes" and advertise a difference when in reality its really just something we already had branded with a new name? Either Bungie must think players are stupid and that we won't notice that its the same thing or... they're just too lazy to actually put in work on newer content and do the minimum amount of work neccessary to claim that its "new". Either way.. its not a good look. Its utterly disappointing how stale and boring Iron Banner is.. especially given all its potential and what it could've been...
-
This could all easily be cleared up if Bungie would briefly explain what damage and defense rating actually do. As well as what stats, ie impact, actually do. We were led to believe in normal crucible, stats would be equalized. Yet I have a rare AR that does 43 to head, 29 to body. That's nearly as good as the Suros, and better than most other ARs. How is it different when it's supposed to be equalized? Now we have IB, where it's all about gear. But most people can't notice a significant difference between killing, or being killed by, players of drastic level differences. After looking into the rewards that you get from participating, it's not really worth it. You might as well grind out crucible marks. At least your teammates won't quit when you start to lose, as much. The games go to real shit when it becomes 6v2.
-
Dude your using a weapon with like no impact....
