I always thought that was the sound of the plane's engines when it flew over.
I never thought it was a siren.

There are only 7 P-38s that are still flying in the entire world. There are 5 of them here. I was at this air show. One of the planes flying was actually pulled out of a Glacier in greenland. Did not see combat in World War II and only saw light combat in the Korean War. Only two kills are credited to the Tigercat. Two North Korean Po-2 reconnaissance bi-planes. She just came a tad bit to late to see any meaningful combat.
