Why do atheists/nonbelievers feel they have the right to comment on religion/Christianity if they have no prior knowledge on it?
The amount of ignorance towards Catholicism is appalling. So, until you study the religion in a class form setting, please stop commenting on it. Your ignorance hurts.
How can this forum talk about Catholicism or Jesus or god when they have never studied them? And by studied them I mean taken a scripture class, church history class, philosophy or even a world religions class. Once any of you have done this, maybe only then you will be able to form a clear, sound opinion on religion. Until then, you all sound ignorant.

15 отв.Why do theists have the right to discriminate and harass the atheists. We give you shit online, while you fire us in real life.

People are still replying to this? Lulz. Thanks everyone.

Well boy, you might want to stop assuming this fast. Because last time i checked, lots of atheist know a lot about several religions. Its like you are expecting us to say: o btw i studied religion
-
Your premise is flawed, OP.
-
2 отв.Actually, alot of Athiests/agnostics know a great deal about religion. Especially Catholicism, a religion with a violent yet grand history and culture.

5 отв.I don't understand why Christians think that Christianity is above scrutiny. Christians talk about creationism, or intelligent design as though they some how disprove evolution or the Big Bang Theory. There have been COURT CASES trying to disprove science. (The Scopes Monkey trial, look it up) Yet, I go online and say, maybe Jesus didn't exist, and the Christians go nuts.

1 ответPeople always comment on things they don't know fully about, including religious folk. Don't be stupid.

"To avoid criticism, do nothing, say nothing, and be nothing."

Because they do, you ignorant numbskull.

5 отв.then do you believe in leprechauns? last time I checked, you didn't take a class on leprechaulogy, and I'm sure you dismiss Leprechauns as false.

Anybody else read his profile name curved balls?

Better question: why pull religion into this at all? Just keep it to yourself, don't shove it in people's faces. Kthnxbye

10 отв.More important question: Why do Atheists act like they have an obligation to ridicule those who believe in a religion?

11 отв.Thank you so much for this. That has been driving me crazy!

I grew up in a heavily Catholic household. While I have distanced myself from religion, I still have some connections. I spent a few years while distancing myself from my own religion by studying other religions such as Buddhism, Hinduism and Islam. The book and culture of each religion is actually pretty interesting and aim more towards peace by practice. I spent pretty much 17 of my 20 years alive being a Catholic and 4 of my 20 years studying other religions. I have spent 3 years of my 20 being a Deist. I prefer being a Deist. (inb4 Islam is full of terrorists! omg kill all muslims 'murickaaaaaa)
So, until you study the religion in a class form setting, please stop commenting on it.
Any public university would not be caught doing something like this unless they want to have a bad reputation for being biased. I'd rather go to a university for research and science. I don't want to listen to a lecture of a religion that I used to follow.
Your ignorance hurts.
I have the best of both worlds. I choose the scientific world more than the faith world because I can actually make progress rather than getting on my knees and praying someone's ailments away.
How can this forum talk about Catholicism or Jesus or god when they have never studied them?
>video gaming forum >taking it seriously
And by studied them I mean taken a scripture class, church history class, philosophy or even a world religions class.
Not everyone is rich and their parents spoil them by sending them to a private religious college. Some people try to live by day to day on their paycheck or trying to better themselves by getting a degree that isn't related to Creationism.
Once any of you have done this, maybe only then you will be able to form a clear, sound opinion on religion.
Or you know, spend a majority of my life with the same hate shit getting shoved down my throat. If I could, I'd prefer to study under Buddhism.
Until then, you all sound ignorant.
Preaching to the choir using passive aggressiveness. Atheists used to believe in a religion, but then they distanced themselves from it or completely severed all connections. The same could be said on the other side: Why do fundies and overly zealous people try to question others beliefs while shoving their beliefs down peoples' throats when no one wants that? Why do fundies try to say science is wrong and false, while saying their faith is 100% accurate? Want to know something? I prefer the religious people who practice what they preach. Those people know when to shut up and do work. People who preach nonstop or try to patronize or berate others are the people who make me ashamed to be religious.

You are acting as if religious people don't look down on those that don't have a defined religion or follow theirs as you are pretty much doing by generalizing. Most mature Atheists keep quiet or go out of their way not to even speak about religion. You don't need to study anything in a class setting to understand it you could just go read the bible. I never understood why people need that to be read to them instead of reading it themselves.

Ahhhh another one of these. Yes let's all sit down again and discuss what divides us because eventually... WE ARE GOING to come to agree with each other... ~,~`

Ninjas suck at their job.
-
I was raised Mormon, I have my opinions.
-
I have been raised in a christian family, been through confirmation and studied world religions for 10 years (as a subject, so not solely religion) in school, which is compulsory where I live. And when I have had enough with the bullshit, I have every right to say it. And your argument goes both ways. Why do religious folks believe they have a right to comment on science, escpesially the origin of mankind, when they have no prior knowledge on it?
-
I was raised Christian (Episcopalian with a healthy dose of Orthodox and Catholic), so I probably know more about religion than Christians thinks I do.

1 ответIt's not that all Atheists do this. I don't. But it's just that, you can't argue that some religious parties are hostile to us. Atheists tend to be free thinkers and (I don't want to say "rebels" but I have no alternative that would work here) rebels, in the sense that they rebel against people who push them. So it's not like they're unjustified in pushing religious parties back. So, as they rebel, they take every little thing that the religious parties do, and exploit it to make them look superior. 95% of the Atheists on the Internet are assholes, and are most likely teen age loners who act upon the adolescent need to look different. You know who you are. I was born and raised catholic. My friends are catholic. My family is catholic. I can't be rude to them, and I won't be rude to anyone who has different views than I do. Everyone is entitled to believe what they wish.
