I don't want to start yet another flame thread, so please keep responses civil.
I pre-ordered a PS4 today, as it is currently the console I am favoring and I want to get one at launch. That being said, I am still paying close attention to many issues for both the PS and Xbox in case the Xbox sways me or something makes me decide to cancel my order and wait until after launch. One of those things is the network.
My question is, is there any truth behind some of the thought that the PS Network is significantly worse performance wise compared to Xbox Live? Online gaming is very important to me, and the idea that Sony will not be able to handle the influx of people on their own network worries me. Meanwhile, Microsoft seems to be investing a ton of money into making sure that Xbox Live will perform extremely well and be very stable.
Is this something I should really be concerned about?

Lag wise I have not noticed a difference. But every couple of weeks PS shuts down PSN for one night to update it.

7 отв.Xbox LIVE is a better service in general, but in terms of: online multiplayer, lag, connection speed, etc... there's no difference, or at least none that I've noticed after 4+ years playing on both.

1 ответAfter playing both extensively I notice exactly zero performance difference online with both systems. What gives PS+ a huge advantage in my eyes is its cheaper, gives discounts on hot games frequently, and the free games are incredible. Saints Row 3, Deus Ex HR, XCOM, LBP Karting, Uncharted 3, and Zero Escape free this month. You just can't beat that.

Xbox Live and I prefer the PS3.

Xbox wins all games are dedicated servers keep free games after u stop paying and great discounts

You get what you pay for. XBL costs money but its also a much better experience then psn. PSN just barely gets the job done.

Better Cloud Service (not at launch though), 12 free games standard and more monthly (15 last month), early betas of games, including The Elder Scrolls Online, 10-75% discounts on everything in the Marketplace, you can easily make it back. Definitely PS+.

1 ответAll we can go by is the services right now. Xbox Live tends to have better online in terms of quality connections, party chat, and online features. PSN (for now) is free, and PS+ comes with some free games each month. I've used both, and Xbox Live is superior but costs money. As for next-gen you'll have to wait and find out. Right now it seems like Microsoft is investing for a better online experience, but obviously nobody will know how it functions until the consoles launch this holiday season.

4 отв.It wasn't in the past but will be now. Server lists are going to make Xbox One's multiplayer infinitely superior. And now PSN isn't even going to be free, hahaha!

2 отв.I am wondering the exact same thing. I am coming from Xbox 360 and am currently leaning towards PS4, and I have to admit Xbox Live has a really active community and there are tons of people playing at any given moment.

2 отв.I have zero experience with PSN but I always hear people say XBL is much better. I know in BF3 there was some voip problem but I'm not sure if that was on DICE's end or PSN's. I also heard that PSN was down for 2 months from hacking or something. I don't think you can party chat like you can XBL (although IMO that is a good thing).

2 отв.Well considering playstation will now require psn plus subscriptions for almost every game, the free vs fee argument is out the window for the most part. So really it depends how much effort either company puts into the networks. Really I'm going for ps4 because of the cost, but I still love Xbox live. Hopefully psn will improve vastly from the ps3 era

I never really noticed a difference.

All I will say on the matter is that next gen every online game on Live will have dedicated servers provided by MS.
