Edz & Nessus got the same treatment.
I assume they'll nix Europa & Moon bountys next.
You WILL grind the potty or else..
Jus another of the thousand cuts that's killing player engagement.
I went back to D1 the last week & it's been so much fun compared to the convoluted mess that is D2.
Remember the told us "play your way" once upon a time? Well, looks like that's done & dusted.
Remember the told us "play your way" once upon a time?
The Orders you get are based on your current loadout and activities, so there's more "play your way" there than having to switch to trace rifles to get multi kills in Lost Sectors (a real bounty on Europa today).

Not exactly there is quite a few times you'll get orders for weapons you don't have equipped or for an element that is impractical to get kills with because you are using a certain ability or an eager edge sword. Then you have to end up re-rolling them multiple times and god forbid you get champion ones while playing content with zero champs like lawless frontiers. At least with the bounties you could just ignore them but the orders are shoved onto you and the only way to get rid of ones you don't like is to have to go into the menu and reroll them and if the glimmer has scaled so high you cannot afford it... well you're screwed.

I’m used to use gunsmith bounties and Cosmodrome to progress the season pass. Then the moon and dreaming city when they made the last ten levels 500,000 points, together with the other planets. Now I do the moon and dreaming city to get to level 100 and the total rubbish auto bounties which give practically no experience for completing. If they don’t put the previous bounties back in the game I won’t be buying anything from them again. There are plenty of other games to play just none of them can match the gunplay of Destiny. This is so good that I think Bungie relies on it and doesn’t give proper thought to the rest of the game.

I am thinking of buying a console and D1. Not entirely sure just yet, it is a big risk. Buying a console and all just to test a game out. I don't mind the grind that i have heard of, as i started before Forsaken and i enjoyed both the grind and just doing stuff on planets.

I would advise you to find a friend who has a console and play test it first. I think you'll find it's not what some people have led you to believe. A lot of the wonder was the gameplay and the newness of the concept. There was nothing like it. Now there is. D2 gameplay is much better and the old stories are pretty much resolved. It might be worth a few hours for the raids. If you can find a team. Otherwise I think you're going to be disappointed. Nostalgia is a powerful draw that you're not going to have. The first time you look at the weapons system or try to mantle I think you're going to regret spending the money.
-
Well that is a hard thing to do. Now i am not blindly believing everything every one says about it. I now that the Ammo economy is rough, There is no mantling, You will have to farm a lot of recourses to buy perks on a gun. I know that the Vault is insanely low, 60 split up by items. No collection so you can't pull out Exotics. Of course now getting into matches is going to be rough.
-
All that and so much more. I'm a console gamer. I bought an Xbox one just for Destiny. I played D1 for over 1500 hours. All told over 5k in Destiny. If the cost of a console isn't relevant then what have you got to lose? But the frame rates, the pov, and the graphics aren't going to be what you're used to. It's a simpler game, with a lot less options. I'm just advising you keep your eyes up Guardian. Back then that didn't come off quite so cheesy. But things have changed. Just saying...

I bought D1 back, it's a lot of fun. Wish my clan was still there so we could do raids again. D1 had some of the best raids.
-
D1 was a blast. Some of the things they removed boggles my mind. There was armor tied into specific strike bosses. There were 2 cabal bosses called the shield brothers who would take turns bashing you, depending on which one you killed first the other would pick up their weapon and essentially become a third boss, then depending on which one you beat last you could get a unique armor piece. Honestly, the main improvement is build crafting, but thats even a bit shallow in D2 compared to what you'd assume it should be as a natural progression of the D1 systems and it took so long for it to be good in D2.

What engagement? Patrolling for an hour to spam repeatable bounties? Given that we can't overlevel anymore and how quickly we get XP they are just pointless.
-
It's a great way for new players to engage in the loop. They can go to a planet, skip over to the NPC, learn the area & maybe catch a public event or HVT or jus have a lil emote party & dance off with some random s. I've met many players who've invited me to help them out with a mission or quest. It gives agency to go to a place & learn the landscape. Scan some items for a lil bit of lore or jus enjoy the amazing worlds & atmosphere. Jus cos it's not your bag, it doesn't mean other ppl don't or won't enjoy it. I have zero interest in raids, but I would never dismiss them.
-
That's just your PoV but can you actually prove that this really applies to new players? Under the current system the bounties provide no added value and even a new player will realise that within an hour or two.
-
Ok. A new player never uses snipers. They go to Nessus & get a bounty for sniper kills. So they try the sniper & find out they like it. They then make a point of trying to get a sniper they REALLY like. It's jus a nice comfortable way to invite new players to try weapons they maybe haven't bothered with. I had a pal who didn't like breach loading GLs until they had to do some bountys. After trying a few different weapons, they got one they liked & after that, they got really excited when a new GL dropped for them. You're assuming too much about other folks & how they engage in the game. Like a lot of folks on this forum.

To use your example... A new player never uses snipers then gets an order to get kills with a sniper. How is that any different than picking up a bounty to get sniper kills?

Изменено (Motorhead England): 1/14/2026 11:58:09 PMSometimes it's like banging your head against wall trying to talk sense on here mate. Unfortunately, some people in the forum have been affected by Bungies "you will play as we tell you to" brainwashing technique, and try to make you out to be the unusal one.

Cant just accept random invites these days though, especially if youre an adult. Ive been invited to games but as soon as you join its a bunch of kids & you got to leave. D1 seemed to have far more adults in game.
-
I never mic up so I honestly don't know who I'm playing with, but if it's joining someone to do a mission or story, there's no big deal. I was playing D1 a few nights ago & got a message from someone asking for help with The Dark Below. Joined up, done some missions, had a blast, then went our separate ways.

Yeah, like helping people to start the Vault of Glass raid even if you were not in the fireteam. Such good times.
