I mean, China banned Gatcha games or something similar. As a result, a lot of these games became more deterministic and by extension, far better as a result.

Not the same issue. Even still, chinas ban isn’t as bad as this one. Chinas ban basically boils down to removing the over monetization of games, IE forced micro transactions. The European initiative would legally require companies to surrender their intellectual property rights to the community. The initiative basically asserts that the European Union make it so companies that make live service games no longer own their intellectual property. This law would disincentivize companies from offering their services in Europe, so come next cycle some multiplayer game companies won’t offer servers in Europe.
