Xbox and PS5 are the same screen name, but it is different on steam for some reason as I said above. as I also said above I did not have to turn on cross save last time, and do not want to loose purchases and other things Ive made on multiple platforms just because for some reason my steam name ended up different. I only have 1 email associated with steam, 1 steam account, and when I log into bungie.net with said steam account it shows my Xbox and PS5 accounts linked. as I said it just shows me something different on PC. Character selection screen on PC shows my correct bungie id. but in game, the name is different, and I can not get outside of friends invited while things are open because it claims it does not exist. https://www.bungie.net/7/en/User/Profile/3/4611686018539982605?bgn=Perky Profile link, and those are all of my correct characters across all platforms, where I do not want cross save, I like to play different on each platform.

The Perky v3 name on Steam would have been pulled from your Steam profile name when launching the game. It's possible it may have assigned a different 4-digit identifier to the end, but this isn't really a Bungie account. Your Bungie account will still be Perky#4359 even if it displays differently in-game. Having different accounts under the same Bungie Name while not activating Cross Save can make matchmaking difficult. You may be able to get around this by having friends invite you from the friend list directly, but to completely resolve this in the way you're hoping, you'd have to activate Cross Save to bring all profiles under the same Bungie Name.

I understand that, but when I played on 2 different consoles, with different gamertags, it still linked to my bungie profile and Ive had 0 issues. i have hundreds of $ spend on both xbox and PS content, and cosmetics. thats why I don't want to cross save because then I basically loose all of those ornaments and stuff I purchased on accounts that didn't need to be set as cross save for things to work. why is PC so different? I am very new to PC gaming.

It seems that there are 25 people with the name Perky. There are none with perky V3.
