TLDR Destiny isn't over. The Guardian has left tutorial island.
I like having options for my loadouts and people not all using the same builds and subclass. Variety is the spice. It took YEARS to accumulate those choices. A new game is the same 5 weapons.
We need inspired new content far removed from other things we have done before. Risks. Depth. Good use of all enemy factions and the amazing universe you guys have crafted. Everyone still talks about the "potential of Destiny" after a decade of Destiny.
I think if Champions weren't glitchy with weapons defined by you, Bungie, people would be less apprehensive. But personally, I like that you make people try different builds in PvE so they don't get bored and comfortable. Perhaps even pleasantly surprised.
And so you increased the number of choices with more powerful artifact mods to pair. I enjoy Episodes power upgrade for the Guardian. It still feels like progression/growth without the gigantic slog and being punished by RNG for your pinnacles for weeks. For a number. The grind should be balanced with the pursuit of the object of your desire.
FUN NEEDS TO BE APART OF THE EQUATION.
I love Tormentors, Subjugators, and all the annoying Husks and everything in between.
I loved Dual Destiny.
An embracing of the inevitable power creep when you don't nerf us but up the ante. I like the enemy density. I like almost all my PRISMATIC builds. Carefully keeping everything in line, I think Destiny is currently the most fun I've had in the game in some time and I wasn't even using the womb combo.
Someone said they thought the game was better simplified. I couldn't agree. It might be easier for some to grasp, but the game is phenomenal for all that it can be for anyone playing or creating it. If people can play Monster Hunter, Armored Core, The Witcher, Skyrim, and Elden Ring, they can learn Destiny.
The balance changes will hopefully bring some people back and the increased population can make a more stable environment. Everyone needs to stop quitting their matches and that's on the community or don't complain about match making and team balance.
I think you know you need content that draws back in veterans in search of new adventures and a complete overhaul to New Light introduction and paths to acquire specific gear that are clearly defined.
If I want to be an ice mage cause someone froze me after I was thrust into Crucible 5 minutes after speaking to Shaw Han, I should be directed to Elsie on Europa by trying to equip the Stasis Subclass I don't have.
You guys are getting better with launching tracked quest destinations from the menu.
Dress the preview Guardians in the character creation page in the armor of various fashion armor competition winners.
You make Hunter look the coolest, that's what most people pick. And the jump is a lower barrier to entry cause it mimics other games, which is good. Teach people how to play the game faster rather than just sending them into the wild and they will enjoy the game sooner. Maybe we can retain them.
Make the expansions up through Witch Queen free. Not sometimes, all the time. Not just for Plus members. Not for a fomo weekend of grinding.
And create a node where you can Sherpa people in all activities and get exclusive ornaments and emblems. Steady bright dust. Artifice with at least 65+ total stat. Better drop rates on associated exotics.
The timeline thing that tells people the lore is great, but integrate a path where New Lights have a defined route to their desired loot. Make Ghost tell them they can use mods to target specific stat distributions and make clear the current Episodic NPC can outfit them with armor to be endgame ready right now. If they have the engrams. If they have the glimmer.
Even if it doesn't get any better than it is at this moment, which I don't believe has to be its fate, it's still been an incredible achievement in gaming. Lead to some great memories with a mostly dope community. Even if it fell short at times of our wildest imagination for the simple fact that nothing is perfect.

What Bungie needs to do is white board a 3 year plan and present it to the community and content creators. The sky is always falling with part of the community and even more so with content creators, so it would go a long way with them mapping a clear future. They need to start D3 development or make a plan to move D2 to the dedicated servers and anti cheat they have set for Marathon. D3 would give them a total reset and make onboarding new players much easier but would be 3-5 years away. Moving D2 to dedicated servers and an upgraded or better engine is extremely difficult but would take less time. They have had some big changes at Bungie but honestly this has been the case since the Halo days at Microsoft. If Sony was smart they’d hire a top tier producer and writers to develop a series on the level of Fallout. If they time that with making a much better onboarding process for new players, having dedicated servers and making the engine more capable, they’d be in a great spot for a long term future.

1 ответPeople either didn’t play or have forgotten how D1 -> D2 was. We literally went to an inferior game that took an extra year to even become comparable to D1’s quality. D2 has been going on for 7 years. D1 went for 3 years. A jump to D3, if it was done like how the jump to D2 was (minus the obvious blunders), would take YEARS to exceed the quantity and quality of D2. People would find it fun for the first few months and then we’d be having the same conversations about how seasons/episodes/whatever sucks. A D3 needs to be almost an entirely different game. Like, still an FPS that has raids and PvP and whatnot…but just different somehow.

1 ответThe biggest problem is also a new game’s biggest solution… Destiny 2 is running on a PS3-grade engine that’s been heavily modified. What we need is a powerful, stable engine like UE5.

7 отв.No it needs shutting down

1 ответИзменено (Lord Kielron): 9/1/2024 7:27:45 PMA complete reset is the only way at this point, and even then, that might not be enough at all. At this point this game has been going on for 7 years. The whole “but my stuff” excuse is a poor one. There should never be the expectation to “keep your stuff” between titles. It’s just not realistic. And this game was built on a bad foundation from the start, and they are also still using an outdated engine. I’m sorry but it needs to happen. And even if it does, based on this company and they’re track record, even that could potentially not be enough to keep the franchise afloat. But we know they will repeat the same mistakes.

1 ответYes it does

1 ответI'd really like a complete reset only for the fact that d could drop old gen and make the game look/feel even better. Feel like the game is capped out engine-wise on what is possible in terms of the number of players in an instance, how many guardians and special effects etc.

2 отв.The engine needs a huge upgrade its a relic, they're not going to add dedicated servers unless it accompanies a new title. P2p is a decade past its prime as it is. Sadly even if Sony gave them the rope to start a D3 its years away, years they don't have. Marathon reeks of Concord 2.0, reports aren't exactly glowing. Barring a miracle Destiny will limp along till its eventually euthanised. A reset is required regardless of your feels. It needs a new start to give them the room to innovate, new enemies, new gear and story preferably not live service garbage. They need a complete restructure and reset but its not looking good. Personally I think this Bungie is dead and Sony will absorb whats left to support other projects.

1 ответИзменено (Fever): 8/31/2024 6:47:36 PMThey can be smart like call of duty and transfer everything from d2 to d3. They already re- released the same weapons 2,3,4 times. If that’s the plan for d3 then they are wasting time.

Изменено (Artisan): 8/31/2024 10:27:04 PMI don't think there is any hint of Destiny 3 even being in the works. By all accounts Bungie will be doing well just to stay afloat rather than engineer a major revision at the same time. But there's significant problems. Propping up an old game relies on keeping the interests primarily of vets, whilst the competition are gradually upping their game. They have a diminished workforce to achieve this now too. Dual Destiny, that you loved as a mission, also effectively cut-off and alienated many vets who'd rely on soloplaying and matchmaking mic-not required content. That was a dangerous and unwise move for player retention at this critical juncture at the end of the Light and Dark saga. The agility to make changes isn't there either. Just to address the exotic Class items 64 combination drop-rates with some more deterministic options is on a schedule of months of development. Prismatic Hunter which effectively wiped out every other Subclass option and every other Class in PvP was also left for months - also the major reason for Hunter's overwhelming over-popularity there over anything remotely like reasons of a "cool cape". Core activities such as Gambit have been left to die. Perhaps a shift towards a more free-to-play model will lead to it's revival. Perhaps. The storyline and it's relentless social agenda pushing is not helping for many either. Ultimately they need to stem the exodus before it's irrecoverable, and refocus on a new smaller scale giving players more what they want. That might buy them a few more years.

3 отв.I'm happy we had a strong finish to the saga. BUT hopefully, when and if marathon flops, they backpedal back to Destiny and do something with it now that they can create new things for the Destiny universe and not bring back old stuff anymore

Изменено (Dredgen Truth): 8/31/2024 4:34:46 AMThis is what ive been saying for a while. I get that the idea of starting fresh is appealing to people, but I think people have gotta remember how much they stand to lose if that "fresh start" doesnt match up to what we have in the here and now. Which it won't. Because this game had 3 years in development, plus the 7-8 years of updates it has received since. Nothing bungie can cobble together while also developing marathon in ANY reasonable time frame would ever match that.
