Sometimes Imi wonder why Bungie doesnt just make this an option, like with certain other things. Those who choose to do the story again can do so with the option and those who dont want to dont have to. Much like back in D1 with the whole matchmaking raids issue for vog, let it be an option. Anyone who opposes has a means of avoiding it, and those who want to do the story over again on another character can do that by just picking up the quest right after they unlock the Tower.

Side note, before any argues, "whats the point in going to the tower to get the quest and doing the story again if its already unlocked for us", i argue that if youre that interested in the story so much so that youd prefer everyone be forced to redo it on alts rather than it being optional, then you should see no issue in doing the story again regardless of the planet being unlocked already. If you have the time, and enjoy the story that much, youre free to do it again with this solution, and if you do see an issue with that then, id hate to say it but id take the assumption that you likely shouldnt be arguing against the compromise, though everyones got their option. Just wish bungie would make it optional for us who actually dont want to redo the story. And thats not to say i dont like it, i just dont want to be held back by things.

Just makes more sense to me that way, rather than forcing us to do the story again to unlock the planet if we felt as if it burdened some of us. With it being an option, those who dont want to do the story can have the planet unlocked already due to it being account wide, and those who do want to experience the story again can go to the tower to pick up the quest and do the story again. Its a win-win situation.
