So first of all, all loot problems aside, I like Trials. I usually just go in and get some tokens. I hardly try for flawless, but I have been flawless like 8 times or so.
But, after those runs I started caring less and less. I cared less about my performance. I cared less about flawless. I cared less about winning. My K/D dropped from like a 1.6 to a 1.2 and a couldn't have cared less. Why?
Because after my team and I would get a round on some team, they'd immediately go to 3rd person peeking, even if my team wasn't sniping. And then they would win entirely off of supers.
Or because I'd do everything right and land a hand cannon shot on a sniper's head during my slide, and his reticle would flinch towards me and he'd take my head off. For all intents and purposes, challenging a sniper became suicide. Then Arbalest is all sorts of weird, but at least its shots can be baited.
I don't mind Bastion. I don't mind Mountaintop. I don't mind any of the other things in the game, even if they are just downright annoying to deal with. None of those things truly detract from the awesome gunplay and variety of engagements Trials has to offer more than 3rd person peeking and the broken sniper flinch.
Solutions?
1. Rework sniper flinch so the flinch is consistently away from the head, but capable of being managed through skill;
2. Make sure Arbalest is tuned so it doesn't just take the place of snipers;
3. Disable emotes until the end of each round; and
4. Swords can't be equipped unless they have ammo.
Loot problems aside, those changes wouls make Trials significantly more fun.

The whole format of Trials is "anti-fun" unless you're top-tier and can steamroll your way through the first 5-6 matches every time. The do-or-die nature of it is ALWAYS going to bring out the worst in people and the most abusive loadouts/tactics.
-
all of these solutions would detract from trials, not make it better
-
This is one of my favourite reasons for sunsetting happening. As frikken annoying and having the capability of shrinking your wiener as mountaintop is......it's finally leaving. Bungie promoting skill would be like EA handing out a finished game. So I suggest next season you don't focus so much on skill. But what bungie made broken the most.

The worst thing is, it’s the sweats or high k/d players that do it the most like so bad hearing a 2kd player bring out a sword behind cover I’m like “ really”
-
Solution would be to nerf special ammo and put them into crates but everyone hates that idea.

Изменено (michael): 9/9/2020 5:47:39 AMIf you think 3 peeking isnt a problem and is “just a strategy” you’ve never played a 20 minute trials game where every round goes to time due to each team having 85%+ sniper accuracy and knowing they cant peek anything resulting in everyone sword peeking for the whole game
-
1. "Third person peeking" has always been a part of this game's high level pvp. Ever since they added swords and emotes to Destiny 1. People never complained about it in D1, it was just seen as a condition of competition. 2. I see TPP as a reasonable counter to the ridiculous agility and ease-of-use of snipers in Destiny compared to other competitive shooters. 3.
Because after my team and I would get a round on some team, they'd immediately go to 3rd person peeking, even if my team wasn't sniping. And then they would win entirely off of supers.
You got outplayed...and you're seeing the problem of game modes that have no objectives other than killing your opponents. They can collapse back into a part of the map that has very few lines of approach....and then team shoot anyone who peeks. This is what happens when you try to force a space magic game to play as a pure shooter. You have NO ability to force people to spread out...and to punish them for playing this way. This is not about TPP. This is about Bungie stripping out of the game all the ways we used to have to punish teams for refusing to come out of their spawn, and clumping up like that. This is part of the reason why I've never liked Destiny 2s pvp, and consider it an inferior product to D1s Crucible.

Make trials 6v6 🙏 3v3 is boring and slow
-
Who cares if people sword peak... your supers building at the same time theres is... sounds more like you just got out played. Taking emote/sword peaking away does nothing.. you wanna be aggressive and make them not be peaking then push... if they want to hug walls.. let them push into the zone and set up! This was never such a big deal in d1... even tho people did the same strat only they did it with Skorri's. It's a video game do whatever you can within the coding of the game to win.

Until they fix sniper flinch 3rd person peeking should stay as is
-
Osiris just told me you need too get good :>
-
You hear the leaks? No major sandbox changes in Beyond Light. Unbelievable.
-
So don’t play.
-
Sniper flinch is the same as other weapon flinch in the game, likely isn't individually tunable, would require a more major change to flinch entirely, possible negative consequences I seriously don't get this Arbalest Business, thing is impossible to reliably snipe with, doubt it was buffed since when I used it a bunch Emote limitations don't exist on such a level, the probability of this working in only one Crucible mode is unlikely. Same for swords even though that would diminish having it out for ammo acquisition at the last second. Trials and fun don't go together.
-
Trials is not for everyone. I’ve accepted never playing it. Stats are too low and I would never be accepted on any team anyway. I don’t want to burden teammates in game. It’s why I stopped playing comp (that and all the hate messages is consistently get after the game is over). Ask yourself. Even with these changes, would you really be capable of winning? Nerfs always cause another weapon type to become dominant. My guess that shotguns will reign again.
-
I am not sure why people are complaining. It was always there but no one really said anything until people kept going against more experienced players. The reason this keeps getting brought up is that no casuals are playing trials. Its Sweats vs Sweats. So that's the real problem. Sweats chase the casuals away and now you are just pointing fingers at everyone else.
-
But been in the game since trials launched in d1 and when swords came with ttk. Just more salt now is all.
-
It would also help if they changed intellect to grant super energy on kills/damage people couldn’t camp as much. I’m gonna be honest, I think trials of the nine was a better gamemode. Having competitive game modes based around objectives always work out better. It’s why CS:GO, Valorant, RS:Siege, and pretty much every other shooter that tries to be “competitive” uses them. It forces players to move. Right now, there’s no reason to not stack 10 intellect, camp lanes with snipers/three peeking and stack supers. I’ve quit the gamemode, not because I can’t play at that level, but because it’s the most boring experience for me.
-
Better yet keep emotes up fulltime, but disable them near walls. There is just no need for them to be used near walls, Bungie!!! Swords are BS, zoom in the FOV near walls.
-
The idea of trails is amazing I suck at trials, and probably won’t touch it until the summoner is available at the 3rd win I only play trials for the SoH, and I didn’t enjoy it, mainly cuz I was going against better players, but oh well it happens.
-
Not to mention Revoker is a monster in it’s own right by breaking ammo economy.
-
Arbalest isn’t really that bad. It’s honestly the least of my problems with trials I think the tokens system should kinda be reworked
-
The trials(comp in general) meta is a revoker for forgiveness via reversal of fortune or beloved for high aim assist values to reduce skill bandwidth, remote connection, high intellect, and camp alleys/lanes waiting for a shot to present its self while your super builds energy. Its also hard forcing adaptive autos for the primary slot. I can understand if lukes smith's grand vision for pvp is a rotating meta, which a great deal of games do and is not a bad idea. I however hate this seasons meta. To put it in terms they have used, in magic the gathering this would be the "BANT CoCo" standard meta. This was where the top 8 finishers for a few months all had the same exact deck card for card.

Just get gut
