If someone says he’s a christian, but he doesn’t act like one does that mean he’s a christian?
If someone says they are American, act American, sound American, lives with Americans, but isn’t technically American, is he an American?
I’d respect the man or woman for that choice (wanting to be called by something other than the norm, I guess).
Edit: A man is a man. A woman is a woman.

Doesn’t make him a woman. A man says he’s a Christian. Doesn’t make him a Christian. A man says he’s American. That alone doesn’t make him American. Has nothing to do with biology as you said. I don’t think a man claiming he is a woman actually is a woman, but if that man preferred to be called by the other terms, then I’d respect his choice. I never meant to imply that a man actually was a woman simply because he said he was. Sorry..
Ask 5 people "what's a Christian" and you'll get 10 answers.
If someone says they are American, act American, sound American, lives with Americans, but isn’t technically American, is he an American?
No, they aren't. Neither of those examples are based on biology.

That alone doesn’t make him American. Has nothing to do with biology as you said, but it mainly focused on claims. Claiming something doesn’t make it true, but if it can be sufficiently backed up then it is more likely to be true. I don’t think a man claiming he is a woman actually is a woman, but if that man preferred to be called by the other terms, then I’d respect his choice. I never meant to imply that a man actually was a woman simply because he said he was.
