Can we just get armor changed so it has no element affinity. It really servers no purpose in armor's case. In fact it really seems to actually hurt the variety in builds and limits our customization that Armor 2.0 was suppose to be all about.

If anything with would lessen it significantly because it would quickly become apparent what the best build is and most people would copy it. With affinity there is no best build, it open ups so many more viable options without having a 100% best build choice.

It does serve a purpose. Bungie wants us to have a grind that will literally take all year to do so we dont complain about having nothing to do. But farming for 60+ stat armor pieces of every element for every character then spending 1000s of hours for materials to fully masterwork it all is not an option for me.

They should just implement a crafting system so we can make the armor we want. Like, cool, the black armory - it’s dumb. You want this weapon or armor? Well you gotta harvest materials from x, y, and z planets, collect materials from beating these enemies, earn blacksmith tokens from completing these activities/events, and gather materials from rare bosses in nightfalls or raids. RNG is -blam!-ing -blam!-.

Sigh simple fix.... NON Masterwork armor CANNOT use mods that do not match the Affinity Masterwork Armor can use ANY MOD Same affinity mods require 1less Energy Off Affinity mods require +1 Energy DONE! simple fix

When you upgrade the armour you choose what affinity those new slots are, so you get the build diversity you want but the slots are permanently fixed to that affinity, and if you later want to slot in other mods, you need a new copy of the armour.... this means you still need multiple copies of armour for different builds, but the choice of how to set this up is yours. A win-win? Alternately the armour rolls preset combos of affinity 50/50 locked slots, e.g. double arc, arc solar, arc void, double solar, solar void, double void, etc. This would mean you still need to grind multiple armors, but one could drop with the affinity combo you need. DO IT BUNGIE!

I wish affinity had a purpose... maybe subclasses that match the affinity are buffed. Faster ability regen or stronger super and damage resistance to that element.

No, it brings a ton of replay value and has a perfectly good reason to be here. It is not a perfect system, there are flaws for example the drastic differnce between farming, say the Escalation protocol armor set and the Vex Offensive armor set. The latter of which can be infinitely farmed and is commonly dropped while the former is so insanely slow and cannot be farmed to the point where you'd never realstically drop a set with good stats and the preffered element. Therefore there should be a comproimise. Removing elemental affinity is NOT the solution, a middleground is. It doesn't hurt the variety in builds it adds another layer of choice and replaybility however it doesnt work for ALL armor. I dont know what the perfect solution is, maybe a costly resource you can farm from Master mode nightfalls/hunts/raids and so on which is 1-time use to change the element to what you want. Or maybe somthing completely different - I cant tell for sure but removing them altogether would be a mistake.

I’ve not played around with builds yet but still think it’s a good idea to have the affinity. People need to give this time instead of wanting it all straight away. Now every drop has meaning we need to look at affinity and high stats rolls on all armour. If you take affinity away most people would already have gear with the stats they want to use in under two weeks. Yes little improvements might here and there but pretty much build finished. Yes you could argue it’s a artificial grind, but does that really matter? I prefer that over meaningless drops we’ve had previously.

Wholly agree. Serves absolutely no purpose at all except to limit builds for the 99.9% of us who don't have the time to play nonstop.
