Destiny 2 on PC only supports Windows. Linux via Proton is not supported and is considered a modified operating system, as is Wine and other services emulating Windows APIs

As a Linux community manager, I have to stand for the community and that mean I could ask hundred of thousands of people to boycott the game, there's many big corporations professionals with us so it's possible that some shops might refuse to sell the game on request. Treating humble players like cheaters is unethical, if you have a problem go talk with Valve, Steam Proton use Wine so they contribute with Crossover Linux developpers being the main contributors to WineHQ project, also like said by others, Wine is a recursive name for Wine is not an emulator, so Linux is usually unmodded by end-users and Wine isn't what you fight against, so let them be. Just Github, Red Hat and Suse sales this year were 44 billions US in total so don't do bad moves, their users are skilled, influents and so on.

So, since it's NOT a modified operating system and WINE is NOT an emulator, when are you going to figure your awful anti-cheat to allow us to use a native Steam feature? I've been waiting for years in hopes that hopefully Proton would take off and would be available if/when Destiny ever came to Steam. I don't think I've ever been this disappointed in Bungie in the entirety of playing their games. What a terrible thought process and an even worse customer service experience.
Wine and other emulation services.
WINE is literally an acronym for "WINE is not (an) emulator". It's a compatibility layer. I understand that you don't want to take on the challenge of Linux support and that Bungie is probably running a ton of unnatural, proprietary stuff that wouldn't make Linux support feasible. But if you guys ever change your mind I think you'd make more than a few people happy. Stadia runs off of Linux servers, no? Is it possible to use the Stadia code as a base for a full-fledge Linux port?

Excellent to know! I'll make sure to avoid ever purchasing another Bungie game.
