I’ve been thinking about looking into some of the lore, but there is sooooo much I don’t know where to begin.

As many have said: Byf and myelin are producers of great video based lore telling. However the full experience really does come from reading it yourself (even if you don’t fully understand). Areas of lore I would recommend you read just to start yourself off: The books of sorrow. It’s about 53 verses and tells the story of the hive’s origin focussing on Oryx’s brood. Last Word vs Thorn. The story of Dredgen Yor and the man with the golden gun. For this one you should probably read the entries in a specific order to get the entire story (which has now wrapped up with season of Opulence and the release of Lumina). That order is: Last word 1 & 2 (grimoire entries) The dark age 2 (grimoire) Thorn 1, 2 & 3(grimoire) The last word 3 (grimoire) Thorn 4 (grimoire) The last word 4 (grimoire) Rezyl Azzir - Before these walls (grimoire) Rezyl Azzir - war without end (grimoire) Legends and mysteries: Rezyl Azzir (grimoire) Legend: Rezyl Azzir - the triumphant fall (grimoire) Ghost Fragmant: Blind Watch (grimoire) Ghost Fragment: Widow’s Court (grimoire) The shadows of Yor (grimoire) Ghost Fragment: The Cauldron (grimoire) Ghost Fragment: Timekeeper (grimoire) Thorn 5 (grimoire) The last word 5 (grimoire) Ghost Fragment: Cathedral of Dusk (grimoire) Letters from a renegade lore book (D2 lore book) The Book of Unmaking lore book (D2 lore book) For every rose a thorn lore book (D2 lore book) Nothing ends lore book (D2 lore book) *fitting with this story that’s unfolded it may also help to read the following: The man with no name lore book (D2 lore book) Drifter’s Gambit lore book (D2 lore book) The Warlock Arnour lore book (D2 lore book) These stories relate to the Drifter who is connected to Shin Malphur, The shadows of Yor and the story as a whole. Other than those stories lore tabs of weapons are a good read especially raid weapons. If you choose to read anything related to Menagerie armour and the chronicon lore book please remember that because Guardians make their own fate (being paracausal) the events predicted are not accurate.

Step 1....buy destiny 1 and play EVERYTHING from raids to normal strikes.... Step 2.....play destiny 2 but it lacks lore they f'd it up there.....
-
Byf has a full timeline video of the events of d1 so I’d go there. After that the books of sorrow. After that whatever you want

-
Just go onto byf’s channel and watch a video on whatever interests you
-
Just play through the story and find something that tickles your pickle, like erosus spawn of quria or ir arok which led me to believe that quria was able to take or was at least still with us...

There’s a YouTube channel called My Name is Byf who has put a lot into the lore, highly recommend checking him out!

I’m currently watching my name is byfs videos on Dredgen yor and shin Malphur

A little thing called the Books if Sorrow...
-
Is lore-pig still haunting the forums? If so, any post from him.

https://youtu.be/_2avSq-82oI I would watch that video. Then you can search for specific topics.

On YouTube there is Myelin Games and My name is Byf. Both are great. On a absolute base level, I’d actually also check out Sir Wallen. He hasn’t done many D2 videos but has many D1 ones and his style remains my favourite to now. Destiny Ghost stories is a podcast that has actually just come back from hiatus but they have plenty of episodes on specific lore pieces so you could easily find any specifics you’re interested in there and Focused Fire is a good one too. In terms of stories/lore pieces. Obviously Dredgen Yor and the Last Word is great but I also really liked the Crota fireteam lore, really set the stage for the moon in D1 and is relevant now due to Shadowkeep.

Check out my name is byf on YouTube, he has a great playlist of lore videos that are in chronological order.

Firstly, your seating location is of the utmost importance... The Duece Throne is my usual go-to...
-
If you want to get interested in the lore I’d recommend the Books of Sorrow
-
I personally started with the stories of the last word and thorn. Then moved on to the book of sorrow, and slowly from there. My name is Byf is a YouTube who is one of the greatest loremaster’s destiny has and makes very good videos that are easy to follow on many lore topics

Изменено (Grays_KS27): 7/23/2019 11:58:41 PMThat’s a problem. There’s a lot of lore, and it tells all kinds of different stories. First, playing through the campaigns of D1 and D2 (and their Expansions) will get you a lot of the base knowledge you need. Then learning more becomes a mess. There is a website (probably several, actually) that contain all the D1 grimoires, like what the Destiny Companion App used to have. Finding that website and reading those grimoires will give you a lot of information. D2 has far more lore. You can read the lore you collect in-game or use Ishtar Collective to search any lore from D1 or D2. I recommend getting on the Ishtar Collective website and searching the word “Book”. This will bring up all the lore books from D2, such as Most Loyal, The Awoken of the Reef, Stolen Intelligence, Dust, and many others. Each of these Books tells some of the most important stories in Destiny’s lore. Also search “Books of Sorrow”, which tell the Hive’s history. Searching the names of characters or other things will also let you look at all the lore about them (grimoire, armor descriptions, etc.). Ishtar Collective has sections for important characters. Reading the Grimoire Anthology books is a good idea, too. You can also check lore videos on YouTube, like MyNameIsByf, but keep in mind that there are also many theories in those videos and you need to pay attention to what’s lore and what’s theory/speculation.

BYFFFFFFFFFF

We’ve got some official lore books on sale now. Other than that, the grimoire cards of D1 are online somewhere. No real rhyme or reason to some, but they are in categories to view

Изменено (Drunk, Driver of Cars): 7/23/2019 11:27:54 PMThe books of sorrow are a good start, they tell you all about Oryx/Aurash and his/her sisters, the fundament and the Osmium King, and Oryx's encounter with the Leviathan.
