The bad juju grind is God awful on its own but I get why Bungie did it the way they did it, for stupid streamers who don't use planetary mats and have a million of em.
However, after spending a week grinding for stuff, I learned I could've actually have gotten it day 1 with no issues with a cheese.
I am unabashedly, unashamedly saying that I would've taken that cheese all day.
I did a nightfall with full leviathan gear (armor anyway), and got 5%. That means 20 nightfalls for one tribute.
3% per strike, and the same for the others.
That is hundreds of events that I have to grind for a single damn gun.
I can pay for it with glimmer, except you need 20 days of completing 4 dailies (without dying) before you can even hope to afford it unless you've played 5000 hours in the game and have thousands of mats laying around.
If I had known I could get what is ultimately a fun but middle of the road exotic on day one with a little bit of patience, I would have, because the alternative (for non sweaties who don't play this game like a job) is weeks of grinding the same activities we've mostly had since day 1.
Not only that, but these are events we've been grinding for years, especially if you've been here since D1.
I've already done Leviathan raids (Leviathan and EOW) dozens of times with leviathan raid gear equipped. I've already done a metric ton of strikes and nightfalls. I've (unfortunately) been forced into this game's poisonous PvP hundreds of times for quests and daily/weekly engrams, suffering through while bad sports super you to death after the match is over and IT STILL SOMEHOW COUNTS TOWARD YOUR K/D. Full clans vs randoms, Luna Howl, all the horseshit this game had thrown at me and I've marched through hoping the good times will come eventually.
You know what sucks? Trying to bank 20 motes without dying while playing with a fire team full of people who also need to bank 20 motes without dying.
All while wearing or otherwise owning gear I've had since late 2017, early 2018.
And now I'm being asked to do it again for an unreasonable amount of time for a single damn gun (without the catalyst, which requires nearly 3 times as many tributes) while some people get to skip it because they found an easier and better way to do it?
Keep in mind we're doing all this for a gun many of us already freaking had in D1 and this grind is taking place 20 days during the summer. I'm 32 so that doesn't matter much to me, but I feel for the teenagers who get to waste their summer vacation on this nonsense.
I would've done the cheese if I'd known about it without blinking. "Real gamer blah blah" nonsense be damned. I'm not doing anything I haven't done before and I've no shit done everything Bungie wants me to do to get this gun already.
Soemtimes, I really hate this stupid game.
*edit*
You can tell in the comment section who plays this game for fun and who plays this game waaaaaay too often. Getting bad juju in 4 hours or a couple days tops? Ugh, the top 1%-ers are really annoying on this topic. We don't all have 100s of mats and max glimmer, nor have we all been grinding managerie like rabid hounds ya jerks!
*Final edit*
Omg the try hards have such a boner for words like "hard" and "fear". The quest not difficult and it's not fear of missing out. It's boring and irritating to earn tributes for crap you've already done before. How people keep getting irritation mixed up with difficulty is beyond me because those words don't even remotely mean the same thing. Literacy rates among some of you are surprisingly low. Also, if you have thousands of shards just sitting around, you are part of the 1%, you are not casual and you are not normal. Stop pretending like you are.

Изменено (isaac13d): 7/13/2019 9:38:17 PMI got the catalyst and the emote in an hour I haven't placed any tribute.🤣 Edit: I just found the emoticons on my phone, did I do it right?

This. This this. Forcing people into a activities to stay alive. Thus bot trying to win or do them corectly.

Изменено (reenry): 7/13/2019 9:37:06 PMI wonder why you guys complain when the “fun” is taken away. Only bypassing mechanics. And the tribute hall is permanent. Title is not
-
The catalyst is pointless. It extends String of Curses from 3 seconds to 5 seconds. The only frustrating part of this event so far is if you want to get the MMXIX title you need to do it all before July 28.

Great post

Erm am i missing something? Think i got the gun in 1 hour 40 Did the first bits of quest to open hall. Never left it And all i did was buy all the things with bright dust. No i didnt buy any. I dismantled all my sparrows and ships and moved a couple over. And that was it
-
As someone who got the catalyst legit, my only ‘issue’ is having to build all my resources back up. It completely drained me.
-
Bad Juju wasn't worth the exotic slot in D1 and it's still not worth the slot in D2. I'll get it. But I probably won't have it until Shadowkeep. It's not on my list of important things to do. The gun isn't worth the grind.
-
I would sticky this post if I could
-
Tldr, waaaambulance despatched 👍
-
I got bad juju legit, though RIP my shards. Spider is now selling glimmer for shards, and you can afk farm forges if you lower your power to 500 to get dusklight and datalattice. That way you can get all the glimmer, shards and mats. I completed the vex and fallen tributes already, will probably wait to get some more discounts to do the others. Meanwhile, just use shards to get glimmer and play

Great post

I got it within 3 hours and only had to buy 3 tributes. This quest was a complete breeze.
-
I got it within the first few hours its not hard to get
-
I got it on Thursday after doing some of the strike stuff, didn't seem to take that long wearing a full set of menagerie gear (armour and weapons)
-
Well, stop being so casual and pay attention.

I understand and sympathize. I've blown my vacation playing this game (as I honestly just wanted to try and play a video game a whole bunch like when I was a kid, it's still fun playing video games a whole lot.) only to realize this game is honestly for unemployed kids with parents that can foot them through their 20's. I don't think the balance is really there for reasonable achievement, but I can see it getting there with things like Menagerie, perhaps in time they'll get to the balance they wanted in having a "non life eating" mmo kind of deal going on. Mayyybee not. Who knows!? Also yes, PVP is in a very bad state, I manage to have fun half the time but I gotta admit, it's a no skill build to win zone. Hopefully that's addressed later.
-
Agreed. Some of us have lives, and can't grind hours and hours of a game Lol but that's why we are called "casuals" smh. It's not just bad juju, its the grind quests that take forever, which i get it, but really..mountaintop is ridiculous, i hate D2 pvp, its cheeks.
-
I stopped reading after the nightfall statement. Wear all the armor and guns then you'll have it done it in 3 tops. 1run is 43%/100%. Quit crying and play the game. I have done 23 tributes legit and I've barely been grinding and never did the cheese. It's not hard.
-
I feel you man!!! Know what you mean....
-
It took me like...four hours playing to get Big Juju. Not too fussed about the catalyst, to be honest. It's not that big a deal.
-
In the grand scheme of things, we could or figured after Forsaken launched. By the end of Y1, I had a max stack of each (I just found them in my vault while junking synths). The only loss was my 20k bright dust but Ill get most of it back by September. It’s a real annoying thing, but I guess everything should be “meaningful”

Bungie:* does something that parts of the community doesn't like * Community: STREEEEEEEMERS!

I am seriously not sure what you are talking about, you need 18 tributes to get Bad Juju and you are making it look as if you need to be some sort of hardcore player who spends 12 hours a day playing the game. Far from it Some of them you probably got accidentally before the drop if you played the game. Like the raid ones, strike one, crucible, gambit, etc etc I remember those popping up randomly before this new Tribute was launced. I have only logged into d2 for a few hours since menagerie launched, specially once I completed the first raid and reached 750, up until then I grinded quite a bit, anyway since then I only logged in enough every week to do the new raid on all my characters and pretty much thats it, oh and the first 2 weeks to farm menagerie weapons... and when Tribute Hall launched already had like 9 available. Missing Gambit, crucible and some raid ones. I spend the next few hours farming those and doing SoP and LW. I think I only needed to buy a couple of those tributes that required materials, maybe 3. And regarding planetary materials well, I always keep a few hundred of them with me (every now and then I will buy 10 or 20 from the spider) so I could easily pick up a few of them, got my bad Juju pretty much within a few hours. For crucible I just went into Mayhem and did it in like 1-2 hours. Even Gambit which I hate took me 1-2 hours as well. Bad Juju as such should be accessible to most players assuming they have played the game enough, and I mean a bit not 6 hours a day. Getting the 50 tributes is a different thing, but there is a reason why is so hard, you are meant to wait. And if you are just a casual player who log in like 4 hours a week then you just need to to the tribute bounties and in a few weeks you will be able to get a discount, and if thats not enough well then maybe it was just not meant for you?
-
You don't have to get it day one the tribute Hall isn't going away anytime soon.
-
Same. It's a stupid slow grind. 5% at the cap is way too low for the matchmaking parts. And getting 100k with just Leviathan/Opulent gear is unnecessarily annoying. Let alone for the raids. Bungie still doesn't seem to realise that not everybody likes their broken pvp or buggy raids. But I've learned my lesson. Always wait a week to do thing in Destiny, because there (most likely) will be glitches that make the entire thing a lot easier and less irritating.
