You can get 9 a day now, guaranteed, though. And it takes all of 30 minutes total.
An even 10 if you spend 10 Legendary Shards at Spider.
That said, in 2 day's time, roughly an hour's worth of work (provided New Light players have guns, that in turn have bullets), they can have enough to masterwork any weapon, or do multiple infusions.
So, Cores are only going to hurt LAZY New Light players. Not all of 'em. And honestly, it sounds like your friends that don't know what a Core is, or want to put time into getting them, aren't people you'd want playing Destiny anyway... the lazy, the undedicated, the ill-informed, etc.

I still don’t understand the idea that not wanting to waste time doing meaningless tasks for meaningless materials in a VIDEO GAME makes someone LAZY.
I still don’t understand the idea that not wanting to waste time doing meaningless tasks for meaningless materials in a VIDEO GAME makes someone LAZY.
Today's gunsmith bounties were smg kills, fusion rifle kills and arc kills. The game is built around getting kills. If you can't take the time to equip the proper weapons... that is LAZY.

So you can masterwork one whole weapon? After wasting a half of your time farming for a pointless infusion material? No way! I want you to REALLY think about what you posted. Understand how absurd it is, considering all of the gear that is available. By your logic. A player can masterwork all of their gear in a couple of weeks. Which doesn't account for ANY infusion. So should this player, not be max level when they start using cores, all of the gear that they masterwork will be useless in very short order. Now, if they, like me, completely ignore the masterwork system because of it being more or less a waste of time, and they ONLY infuse gear after reaching a significant power increase as to maximize the use of their cores, they will still be limited in using ANYTHING they want to use until they reach the point where cores become pointless(pretty much as soon as a player stops caring about choice and mainly upgrades matched gear.) It's not about being lazy. That is a stupid comment. It's a game, people play when they can, it's not a job. There is nothing lazy about wanting to maximize their time. Masterwork cores, should be for masterworking. They are a pointless infusion material that does NOTHING but limit player choice. And when I say pointless, I mean pointless. If they are rare, then they essentially negate the whole point of a loot based game as players are forced into RNG as the primary source of gear. If they are "easy" to get and abundant, then they are simply another tedious grind element that has NO impact on player choices(saying you can get X in Y amount of time proves the point that cores should not be in the game for something like infusion.). You are the one who is ill-informed. Clearly lacking insight with no reason to insult other players, nor any basis for doing so.

I guess the question I have is why would you be trying to masterwork your weapons/armor that early in the game? I mean unless you are someone who is completely new to rpg type video games you know to save the rare materials for endgame content.

I think most people would agree with you. Which is exactly why cores should ONLY be for masterworking, and should go back to being rare. THAT gives endgame weapon enhancement weight. Having cores attached to a basic function of the game is pointless, not only because the only way to balance the usage is to add more sources(which negates the impact), but also because cores in and of themselves don't increase power. RNG dictates whether or not you level, cores as they sit only serve to limit what gear, that you have found, that you are allowed to use.
