The other super exotics are still pretty good and worth using. Skull is no longer fun or powerful enough to use. Killing six or more low level enemies ought to grant at least half Super back. Killing high level enemies should give bonus super on top of that. I’d say a max of up to 80% back would be a good compromise. Nerfs really do hurt aspects of the game.
Edit: To clarify, I tested the Pheonix Protocol and the Rigs for Hunter which are the most popular aside from the Skull. Those seemed to still grant a good amount of energy back. In short they are still fun to use. I haven’t tested the Titan arms so I’m ignorant of the performance on those. Sorry if I implied I had tested everything. Anyway I’m having fun with opulence and hope all of you are as well! I do miss the Skull for top tree Voidlock though. It was fun while it lasted :) Maybe they can give it a little love in the future!

No it didn’t. The amount it gives back normally for me is about 10-20% after a super use. It isn’t that bad. Stop relying on supers to get through activities.
-
It got hit the hardest. To be fair all people were doing was launching infinite nova bombs but now it doesn't really give back much unless used on alot of yellow bars. Chaos reach is a great replacement but not alot people know how to use it properly.
-
Uhh hello? Shards of galanor? They got absolutely destroyed
-
iirc shards got hit the hardest nerf wise but trust me, i sympathize. I get that in retrospect these needed to happen but honestly? These were way heavy handed. Shards was already meh before this patch, now they're literally garabge. Akhamkara's Spine + middle tree gunslinger is a better build now....hell, ophidia spathe is better for blade barrage now. It's really annoying.
-
Although I think the nerfs where a good thing overall I agree skull was hit a little too hard. When I kill a shit-ton of enemies with a bomb give me at least more than half of my super back. It makes well placed novabombs a little more rewarding.
-
Everything was hit too hard. Shouldn’t have been touched at all! Hate when they nerf fun...
-
I’ve used it once since nerf. I got 10-15 kills on red bars and only got about 30% of a super. It’s dogshit now.
-
I’ve just moved back to Nezarecs Sin. It’s pretty nice. Skull was fun while it lasted
-
I stopped using it. Not worth the exotic slot anymore
-
We have to remember that Bungie at the end of every season looks at the most used class and exotic and then nerfs one or the other. They want you to play different paths or classes even if you have 70,000 kills as a voidwalker which proves that’s the class you’re sticking with. Use nezerac with a godroll last perdition or contraverse hold just for the novelty. The blink exotic is okay but doesn’t really give much function to your abilities like the others.
-
-
If your with someone using the Well, Phoenix Protocol is better then the Skull if your using Nova Bomb. It’s what we use in Reckoning anyway
-
You would think bungo. Would at this point in time dial back a little not a lot. Same old shit from these incompetents. On a scale of 1-100, they seem to forget about all the numbers in between.
-
I feel it to. Also Ace of Spades. They don’t have the same feeling anymore. I bums me out.
-
Rigs still work pretty well, and it’s better than not using it. But shards and gwisin are both shite. Shards because I can hit a big boss with all of it and get maybe 15% back and killing like a 1000 ads is only 10%. Gwisin is bad because you get a net gain of about 5% and it drops fast. Also spectral blades as a whole is pretty garbage now.
-
Yea they put skull in a grave, you're better off running nezarec sin with void weapons
-
In all honesty it was needed. These super regen exotics should have never been as powerful has they were at their peak. People became way to reliant on supers for pretty much everything they were doing. Yea it’s fun to toss back to back to back novas in gambit but it’s also fun to use your weapons.
-
I mean... half a super back is fantastic. For killing 6 or 7 adds, which is pretty easy to do without team kill stealing. Are you saying that is worse than Sanguine Alchemy? Ursa furiosa is around there. I rarely get even half my super back now in pve. I think it has put it more on the level of other exotic armors as a whole.
-
Ya, it's junk now, my skull has good percs, I still use it for it's enhanced ashes to assets on my srormcaller. LMAO
-
easier solution should have been for the super regen exotics to proc less super the more fireteam members you have. IE. you would still need to chain your supers, but if you were playing solo it would give you an edge..
-
The only two super regen exotics that are still usable are protocol and rigs. Skull and the rest got nerfed into uselessness. If you’re a warlock you are betting off using nezarecs sin. Works great with recluse and regens all energy not just super.
-
It should never grant that much to begin with, Obsidian Mind barely gave you any super back in D1! Also ive recieved half my super back on multiple occasions when generating 7 orbs.
-
Only ones worth using are Phoenix Protocol and Orpheus Rigs now. Thousand cuts hunters, USE OPHIDIA SPATHE NOW. ITS STILL AN AMAZING EXOTIC.
-
Run skull with Recluse and Super Mods in every slot. Works fine...

Bungie has been constantly micromanaging Destiny since it's very first year. The biggest issue is their minuscule buffs are met with drastic nerfs. It may be an effort to get players to migrate to other equipment or try different play styles. They say it's about balancing and they throw of percentages and numbers to support their claim, but in the end they seem to forget this is a game, it's not a lecture hall, a math class or a demographic study. It's a game...something that should be fun, perhaps a bit of a grind but not so much that a player feels like their clocking in for another day at work. Not try to play a game only to find out that the people who made it want you to play this way and to hell with how you'd like to play it. This is at the core of the game. D2 even more so than 1. So I'm pretty sure that 3 is gonna feel like a work camp.
