Sword are fun but they aren’t. Once it run out ammo it should become kinetic and not useless. To balance you can’t sword fly or anything like that since it has no ammo, it’s just a sword now. Make swords good.

Stryker's Sure-Hand with Assassin's Blade and Surrounded makes it feel like a sword with big sword damage. I would like to see more versions of swords with new attacks, or make the Hunter and Titan swords available for others to use, even if they don't have the same running animations.

Not gonna lie, that's always a weird point when I tell people about this game. If they wanna know more swords usually come up and I'm asked why they're in the power slot, I explain that they don't work when you run out of AMMO for your sword and the response is usually something like "wot."

D1 swords were epic. I miss them all. D2 swords are meh, in comparison. Just my 2d worth. YMMV / Cheers!

Don’t know what it is, but swords in D2 don’t compare to swords in D1. Felt much more powerful. Wish they would bring back (not as a replacement for new content) swords like dark drinker and raze lighter. Instead we got a very gimmicky version called Worldline Zero lol.

The ammo goes into making an energy blade, similar to a lightsaber. It doesn't make much sense for a sword to just magically grow a blade. 2. It would make ammo useless. If you can do good damage without ammo, why does ammo matter? You could say it should do less damage without energy, but that's basically what it does already. It just wouldn't make much sense with a game that's based around ammo.

You can still kill things when its run out of ammo, it just takes more hits.

Swords should have infinite slashes, simply reduce the damage they deal as long as they can still one shot guardians of course. Right now using a sword is pointless, shotguns are just so much better.

they can make something like when sword ammo is empty it can't use power attack and deal no elemental damage and whatever % damage reduce but they won't come on bungie!

Whatever gets in a gradian's melee range should expect a big chunk of damage. Also melee buffs should work with sword why not? Just don't allow it on other guardians their armor has great slash and bash resistance. These are our weapons we know how to buff against them. Just like a kevlar vest works great for shotguns.

How about we just give swords the same combo as hive swords and take the ammo cost out of guarding so they're actually useful? (Or make guarding block 100% damage but cost ammo) Damage is good, ammo is good, utility is dogshit awful.

or put them in the special slot so ammo isnt a problem anymore. no reasons to use a sword in both pve and pvp. pvp you are going to met some shotguns,,a nd pve....well bosses don't like when you are close to them.. but idk why i would take a sword when i could use a LMG, a rocket, or any exotic heavy weapon..especially since swords arent even fun to use with all the nerfs they took with d2.

I think you're right, at least on one point - swords need to be made better. Personally, I think they should receive a couple (3) of buffs: 1. Increase base damage by 15%-20% across all archetypes of swords. Swords should have the highest damage - period. Why? Because the requirements for that damage are high - you can't deal it at any range other than melee range, and you are risking the chances of being 1 to 2 shot within melee range to deal it. Also, not all Strike/Raid bosses are going to be susceptible to sword damage, as not all of them can be engaged effectively in melee range. So - the requirements are EXTREMELY HIGH. In turn, the rewards should be as well. 2. Increase Ammo Reserves by 15%, and increase inherent Scavenger perk by 10%. More ammo. These swords need it, especially if they will be primarily used for clearing waves of Adds and Yellow Bars. 3. Grant "Knock-back protection" when guarding. Now, I'm not 100% sure if this is already in place or not, as I rarely guard at all when using my sword for dps. So if this is already in place, disregard. If not, it DEFINITELY needs to be in place. Furthermore, the ammo cost of guarding should be reduced. Again, you're risking point blank melee ranges for this weapon. If these 3 changes were added, I think swords would see a little more play time, at least with certain activities and for certain bosses.

I'd love to see that: lighter, smaller swords too, ranging from rapiers and wakizashi to scimitars and beyond. Considering most things in CQC will kill pretty quickly, I can't imagine it being a huge balance issue. Just make it so you can't block with lighter swords. I'd love to see an actual shield slot as well, with varying sizes of shields. How about polearms? Scythes? That would be amazing. /variety is the spice of life //or deathdealing

I avoid using swords for this reason. What's the point? They have limited ammo and extremely limited range. A good compromise would be that after you run out of ammo they do less damage and are kinetic. It makes sense, but also allows you to use the damn thing when you want.

Make the light attacks have infinite ammo and the powered up attacks use heavy ammo and are limited.

They need to increase the ammo for swords again. Make them strong how they were in D1.
