I can play 100% smooth after following the steps

Gameplay is way smoother, but not perfect

Method didn't work at all.

EDIT - 19.01.19: Very sadly - the stuttering over time came back for me. The configuration I found out, may only help users, who don't have the same "memory leak" - problem, as many of us have. As you can see in the poll above (status 19.01.19 - 18:36 CET): 4 people said, the method helped them. But 5 said, that the method did not work AT ALL - same for me myself..... I guess I was too fast and full of euphoria, as I may have pushed the games general performance, but didn't see, that the "in-explainable" stuttering with an increase over time did NOT vanish.... At least I found out, that installing a 60hz-Monitor does NOT solve the "memory-leak"-issue ! ;) So really: Sorry to all who tried the steps and did not get rid of the famous memory-leak-stuttering.... ! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi to all of you suffering from the stuttering-issue..... I did troubleshooting the last 10 days (for I had my holidays...) Short version: If it is not Bungies bad game engine or their servers, the stuttering even on high-end hardware could be related to the GPU clocking down and up, causing different FPS-values interacting defective with a specific monitor and it's specific repetition frequency, which the Destiny 2 Engine cannot handle in Public Areas. Now before I tell you what happened while I was troubleshooting today, my current System Specs: --------------------------------- --------------------------------- Display 1:Samsung C27F398F - 60 Hz - VA-Panel - 4 ms reaction time - Full HD - 27 inches Display 2: MSI Optix MAG241CR - 144 Hz - VA-Panel - 1 ms reaction time - Full HD - 24 Inches OS: Windows 10 64 Bit - most recent updates installed. Mainboard: ASRock Z77 Performance - Socket 1155 Processor: i7-2700k 3.5 Ghz (Sandy Bridge) - OC to 4.7 Ghz GPU 1: nVIDIA GTX 1060 OC KFA2 GPU 2: Sapphire AMD Radeon RX 590 Nitro+ Special Edition (8 GB DDR5-RAM) GPU Drivers: nVIDIA - Geforce 417.71 Drivers - 15.01.2019 (most recent) AMD - Adrenalin Drivers - 19.1.1. - 10.01.2019 (most recent) RAM: Corsair Vengeance CL9, @ 1600 Mhz (PC 2800) - 4 x 4 GB = 16 GB of RAM. SSD HDDs... -------------------------------- -------------------------------- So let's start...... Like many of you I was troubleshooting the last days, for I wanted my Destiny 2 to be immersive not just in Strikes and Raids - but also when fighting in Public Events or just roaming around doing patrols / farming. Especially HELL is Dreaming City and Tangled Shore, then comes ETC. Immense Stuttering after 20 - 40 minutes - beginning form about minute 5 in game.... As I did everything here, https://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTechSupport/comments/8xahza/destiny_2_troubleshooting_guides_framerate/e21w96b/ and did a lot of other things, users (or Bungie...) mentioned in forums, I gave up and today tried the last thing: Installed my old 60-Hz - Samsung C27F398F - 4 ms reaction Time with Freesync - in order to check, if this would really do the trick, like so many users said - 60 Hz-Monitors would not cause the stuttering after time - But this seemed to be wrong....at least as the together with my former used nVIDIA GTX 1060 OC KFA2........ The stuttering occurred, while in Destiny 2 settings were on: V-Sync On - 60 FPS - FPS Cap 60 FPS (Geforce GTX 1060 with 60-Hz-Monitor) After a bit of research i found out the following important two steps to follow, when using a 60 Hz-Monitor together with a nVIDIA-card: 1.) Disable V-Sync in the Destiny 2 - Menu - but ACTIVATE it in the nVIDIA Control-Panel (best option there maybe "fastest - or - adaptive" 2.) Do NOT use the FPS-Limiter in Destiny 2 - put it to OFF. => But USE FPS Limit of 58 with the software "nVidia-Inspector" (download at 3dguru). Because it seems as if the internal Destiny 2 V-Sync-Option as well as the frame limiter don't work out in the same way with every type of monitor.... (my theory here) THAT helped a BIT for me...but only a bit... Since I don't own a G-Sync-Display, I couldn't test it with additionally G-Sync active. I didn't manage to get the "smoothness", the game should offer for it's price. So I changed the GPU - to the Radeon RX 590 Nitro+ on recent drivers. Did the same things - this time I only used the Frame Limiter in Adrenalin Software - put it to 58 again. V-Sync in game OFF V-Sync in GPU-Software ENABLED So this time I could also enable Freesync, using an AMD-GPU. And it ran quiet smooth - But as ever, stuttering still there and still increasing over time. So next step was I installed my MSI Optix 144 HZ Display again. Did exactly the same things. Ingame-Frame-Limiter and In-Game V-Sync Off, but V-Sync in Adrenalin on, Adrenalin Frame Limiter to 60. (although my hardware can easily do more than 100 FPS in most areas....) I don't want to tear down my FPS, having good hardware, like most of you, too. So like I read in some threads on forums, when using a 144hz-Monitor frame-capping should always be at exactly the half of the monitors-refresh rate, when V-Sync is on - or the values like shown in the Destiny 2 - Menu: 144 FPS. 72 FPS 48 FPS So I put the frame limiter in the AMD Software (important: NOT in Destiny 2 Menu!)on 72 FPS and although it was smoother. Still stuttering issue..... So if suddenly a lot of players appear or a public event is starting, there are always stutters. Especially when the "name-plates" get in sight ! That's the strange thing ! Bungie! So summed up: Destiny 2 cannot handle high framerates without causing over time (5-60 minutes) increasing and never ending stuttering. Changing V-Sync IN or out of the game or limiting frames in or out of the game does NOT help for me. Higher framerates seem to either break Bungies engine, leading to the always so called "memory-leak" over time, or their servers are to blame! - Stutter comes with multiple players in public areas / events and is worst when "name-plates" appear on the screen!. Until the game gets UNPLAYABLE, until you restart - and everything begins from the start. So if you wanna play Destiny 2 for 4 hours, you have to restart the game at least 4 times. This just can't be..... Would appreciate if you left some feedback and tell me, whether you have the same stuttering issue and if changing frame limiters or V-Sync options helps YOU.
