And Bungie's -blam!-ed up physics engine means more times than not you get launched across the map like a -blam!-ing jumpship. A giant Hive Knight punching the ground is not going to emit explosive flatulence strong enough to do that. In fact, NONE of the enemies are large enough to do that. If anything a large stomp would stagger you more than it would launch you away. It's plain and simple a lazy effort to prevent shotgun spam because apparently they couldn't think of anything else. Colossi have jetpacks. Just make them fly away. Vex can teleport. Those can just hop away. Hive can punch a player away. A massive shockwave out of nowhere makes no sense.

Well the enemies in the game are made up so it technically could make sense

Might as well make Hive ships explode with feral man-eating swarms of bunnies with that logic. Can't say the Hive aren't capable of evil bunny monsters, so it's always within the realm of possibility. The point is it's a lazy mechanic, and one that happens to be just nonsense on top of it. They could at least give them unique methods instead of stomps and a ground punch. Why deploy ground soldiers when you could airdrop these -blam!-s from the sky and just flatten everything?
-
Be careful what you say. I don’t want to be attacked by stomping bunnies. Don’t give them that kind of advice.

Изменено (The Herd with ColinCowherd): 12/15/2018 12:18:45 AMIt is a pretty lazy mechanic, I’ll agree there. I think a cooler idea than the stomp would be for the big bosses that do that stinky shit do grab attacks that you can dodge instead so that if you are skilled enough you can stay close. Like bosses in souls games do.
-
Yeah, I'd be fine with that. Hell, even a swing that punches you and throws you back would be fine. Shockwave spam is just lazy and boring.
-
OK then code a new stomp mechanic, create the new animation, program said animation and mechanic, check the hit box registration to make sure it lines up then you're done. Shouldn't be that hard i mean its just coding.
-
I don't think it's the stomp itself that launches you. The stomp makes an energy explosion that sends you flying.
-
Right, because it's reasonable that every enemy species has explicitly all integrated energy blast tech or Hive magic into their legs and arms for the literal only purpose of getting icky Guardians off of them. Totally logical(I don't mean to be rude, but it's honestly a ridiculous thing. It'd be fine if they actually made it make sense within the boundaries of the game, which they have not done at any point).
-
I don't think they use devices, although a rechargeable concussion blast device would make sense for fallen. I think most species create energy blasts using space magic, like how enemies teleport and create energy Shields or how guardians have magic powers.
-
It makes sense that they don't want your short a** sitting at crotch level just messing them up until they die. Just melee when you get stomped and it'll pull you in 99% of the time.
-
Because using a mechanical loophole is just as reasonable. K

Hey, go ahead and keep complaining when I gave you a counter that I KNOW works because I do it all the dang time. K
