Ok so I’m just gonna remind you that due to the way exos work cayde-7 can’t be a thing. Otherwise good points. Probably won’t happen unless bungie is scrolling the forums stealing ideas for the D3 writing team to use, as that is the stage D3 is likely in right now and any story and gameplay details that are leaked probably aren’t final.

Due to way they work? We've seen Cayde-6 have background reveals that suggest he's had as many rebooted. But regardless, I wouldn't mind how they explain his return... He doesn't have to be Cayde-7, or Cayde-6.1, or the Vanguard, even an amnesiac confused Cayde-6 that makes it into the end of the story of D3 wandering in, an unnamed ally joining the force, who looked like a rusted Cayde / his chest replaced or repaired with vex metal, anything. Seeing him with Elsie Bray / Exo Strange, who's brought him back, her or anyone who's pull him from a paradox. As I said, I don't mind how they'd explain it, just that he and Eris do in fact return.

Ok, I’ll respect the last part with this response. Exo brains can’t be “stored” or “backed up” like any standard computer software, because they aren’t. An exo is literally a human mind transplanted (sort of) into a robotic body. The whole reason they reboot is to prevent the human brain from realizing it’s not in a human body, causing it to reject the robot body and killing the exo. This is know as Dissasosiative exomind rejection, or DER. This is also why exos have to “wake up” when first activated and have several other “humanisms” put in place to prevent DER, I.e. the ability to taste, feel pain, etc. Now the fact that an exo brain is a human brain means that it can not simply be stored. Now things work slightly differently for guardian exos as their ghost Rez them in a state where they can’t suffer from DER and don’t need to reboot. However in both cases of the exo is mortally wounded and has no possible way to repair itself or get revived, there is no way to recover the mind as the brain becomes corrupted and accepts its death. Exos cannot be rebooted to bring them back from death as once their bodies have died, the mind will follow after a window of about 30 seconds (you wouldn’t believe the digging I had to do to find that out). This unfortunately means that bungie can’t bring back cayde-6 in any fashion unless they want to spend the budget on re-writing half the lore.

If a Human ([u]human brain[/u]) Guardian is resurrect by Ghost, I don't see an excuse that the same isn't done for [u]human brain[/u] Exo. (After all, the player can be an Exo as well, and the player's Ghost brought it back. I don't think it's ever been revealed the limits of what shape a Guardian is in for the Ghost to bring them back, just that the light was still there. But of course that's in the world where there's the Guardian ghost is present.) I think it would be just as, if or more easy to create new Exo body. But again, [b]his[/b] Ghost is technically dead. Even so backups can still stand. The same way both a clone can exist and backup canexist, I'm sure it's not a stretch to have copies. Ghosts can revive other ghosts, guardians can revive other guardians, but only one Ghost can revive a Guardian at a time. When the bond is broken, like a Ghost lossing it's Guardian, or a Guardian it's Ghost, there is a chance of a new bond.[/spoiler] I'm sure other people have their own theories/ideas (like even some have mentioned [spoiler]traveller awakening [i]may[/i] or [i]may not[/i] provide a way for former Guardian return[/spoiler], etc). It doesn't take a lore rewrite to bring back a (semi-)artificial being. But Lore rewrites do happen, regardless of cost. [ex.) like Grimoire Lore of the Dark / Anti-Hero / Villainous Guardian but Guardians stand today as we know them are naturally Light / Heroic / Good in game [i]though the natural nature may also be changing in D3+[/i]] -didn't take a whole budget to work out. Where as [ex.) Mara Sov rewrite] - mainly costed because the larger story was being rewritten.

But I can confirm that the species a guardian is revived as will always be the species they were when they died, and due to some great management by ghosts in the self protection department, if one is killed their guardian is kind of screwed with a very slim chance of coming back. That chance is that another ghost may see them as a worthy guardian again, however rare it happens. The three instances where it has I can’t remember, but I remember that the guardians in question were re-rezzed the same class as before but without the memories of personality of their previous guardianship. Basically meaning if this did happen to cayde (making him the fourth case of it) he would be a shell of what we once knew. It wouldn’t just be amnesia, as most of those who suffer from amnesia retain their personality, it would be far worse. He likely wouldn’t recognize ikora or Zavala, or even shiro-4, his greatest friend. I’m sorry but I don’t think cayde will come back and even if he did I’m a way that didn’t require a retcon, he wouldn’t be “cayde,” if you know what I mean. Edit: also I’m pretty sure the Mara sov not being dead thing was planned, bungie was just figuring out how to execute it and than forsaken gave them a perfect opportunity. Hell bungie never even said that she died so there was no reason to believe they didn’t have some plan worked up to bring her back.

There's obviously some reason behind Cayde-6 getting a different voice actor in Forsaken. But maybe, just maybe, it was to make a slight differentiation between the death of this paradox Cayde in Forsaken and the real Cayde-6? [b]Mara Note:[/b] [spoiler]Yes. Same goes for Eris on the death status as well, people wonder where they are, NPCs seem to mourn/miss/worry for their MIA selves, but they're not marked for death. I’m pretty sure caydes voice actor got a gob for a show called “the rookie” I think. But cayde wouldn’t be able to remember jack-shot other than basic things like how to talk, his name, how to ride a bike, etc. as is for every guardian. It just so happened that cayde was rezzed with some sort of journal on him, otherwise he wouldn’t even know about ace or his queen. But seriously, bungie can’t afford to do stuff such as that if sugar daddy activison says they can’t. Where do you think bungie’s budget for these games was coming from, completely preorders and micro transactions? Nope about 75-90% comes from papa activison, so if they say no more cayde (no matter how bungie says they’ll make it work, and some of your ideas were really good) that means no more cayde. Seriously if there’s something shitty you don’t like in destiny content-wise, you can blame activison for not giving bungie the budget or encouragement to do so as activison preaches dlc and micro transactions.

But I'm hoping it was at least pre-planned, even if they don't have his future after this in any planned mind or allowance. And Hey, fighting against the budget, the Wen Jie quote stands with all ideas regardless. Oh yeah, it was definitely pre planned as Nolan north (current ghost voice) actually voiced cayde for all of the lines in forsaken, from last call to ace in the hole. I actually didn’t notice it at first and had to be told about that.

I've been enjoying looking back at these notes here and comparing with JUST HOW MUCH has come in fruition. Over the years I've accumulated a lot more to say－ and my own alternative concepts/lore/story－ yet nearly everything on this list is in some way now touched on. One of the Few Examples I HAVE proof of, where I have ideas for improvements on something, and they actually turn up in some twisting way. There is even challenge and triumph tasks for single-player just as there are a few methods for playing all version of Destiny in Single-Player modes. (Though the major one of D2 I fear pointing out, in the case they would want to hot-fix it's functionality.) Also some of the 'other' ideas I didn't put down in writing here; also showed timely address & arrival. I have had general game discussions on D's build up and space-management with peer players. How D1 & D2 could have been in the same game, and by would've-been later extension D3 was unnecessarily separate from D2. They fixed that and Though the "vaulting" wasn't the method I anticipated or suggested, it was set up to not be separated. Or how the only main benefit that could have showed up was the lore addition/expansion from a [b]third[/b] Guardian Intro ( D1's intro / now D½ New Light Quest-Line; & D2's ol'e Red War Intro.) Which is nice in the concept of "The" Guardian 'fireteam' (3-6 members) having their own individualized timing and stories as they accumulate together in lore? Shaw Han, while feeling like a(n) artificial/synthetic human, has a under estimatedly paradoxical predicament in this pseudo "D1.5" intro; yet makes the best script suggestions to do with 'working with the guardian again, should be survive,' and 'perhaps Shepparding other new light.' It think it would have been a perfect thing to save for my proposed hypothetical "(re-)Merged" game release. Somewhat allowed D1-3 to be played. The planets' respective maps being tethered together, with each chronological step having an influence on the state of things, progress and initiation able to be resumed from any D1 or D2 checkpoint up to your last live save (or having the three main begining points of interest; D1, D2, ✝️D3). I have many more yet to be of public mention for adoring and splurge. Just not sure quite how far I can push these pieces out and have that 1:1 ratio the original post has managed! LOL. I think one thing bloody ridiculous though is that way a piece of art was practically AI-remade/redrawn to be added into D's motion comic videos. You can reuse an Artist's work uncredited, potentially redone by AI, yet you want to recast ZAVALA instead of honouring Reddick with some 'hard' side work from all of his acting audios and blending AI? (The bringing back of actors in the flesh has been done. Take OA for one example on a post-humous role bringing back 'The Lost.' Why not LR's voice for Zavala, too? This is one of the few examples of AI that have been unquestionably appreciated. Giving proper good-byes and send-off of actors and/or characters alike when they are unable to complete/return to the role.) ☆ Thank you for the Light in the Dark, Bungie!
