No weapon was ever nerfed more than Pocket Infinity. But I get your point.
English
-
By pocket infinity you mean vex mythcast
-
Nope. Vex was hurt but was still just about viable. PI went from being a nuke to being a feather duster.
-
The vex was affected by all fusion rifle nerfs it’s own nerfs and the auto rifle nerfs. It was still viable after the first nerf to it but towards the middle of year after they gut the stability and recoil of fusion and autos u could hit the brod side of a barn at point blank and required 6-7 headshots to kill. Not to mention they took its 56 round mag and replaced it with 36
-
The Vex was pretty much useless after the 7 trillion nerfs it got. No place in PvE and no place in PvP.
-
Ah but the Vex had a purpose for the whole first year of Destiny. Remember the bounty "Get double kills with fusion rifles"?
-
I wouldn’t call that a purpose.
-
The first shotgun nurf that I remember in D1 was over 40% ,then they kept nurfing them. Never been the same.
-
Shotguns had a wild ride in year 1 of D1. During HoW, they were buffed 100% for PvE damage.....ONE HUNDRED PERCENT. They literally doubled the PvE damage. Fast rof shotguns with full auto were completely disgusting during this time, particularly in prison of elders. My full auto Dry Rot 32 was hilarious, lol. Then they were slowly nerfed back to earth over the course of like 3 seperate nerfs throughout the remainder of 2015. They basically ended up where they started and snipers took over PvE. And now here we are again in D2 with fast rof full auto shotguns back in the secondary slot. It's pretty awesome.

Pocket Infinity was terrifying in the Crucible before it got trashed. Once you let rip, everything in front of you would either die or get horribly mauled...
-
Titans shoulder charge, Smash and grenades still do this and...
-
None of those are usable immediately afterwards. They are also a lot more avoidable than the tsunami of screeching death that PI was in its prime.
-
Pocket infinity was soooooo much worse. It was to the point I could hipfire a room with all 6 enemies in crucible with my eyes closed and get 6 kills. Back then pocket infinity had 8 rounds not 3 and still returned missed shots and was full auto.
-
The skull fort will get the pocket infinity treatment in the future
-
Vex isn't too far behind.
Damn thing got shat on and Bungie took the entire fusion rifle class with it.
-
It's hamfisted nerfing. The Vex was op but it didn't need to get nerfed to the point of uselessness. That's the consistent problem with Bungie- not able to make subtle adjustments (except for the .04 buff to fast firing auto rifles, a bit too subtle)
-
For D2 biggest weapon nerf has to be Prometheus
-
To be fair, Prometheus was a bug that needed to be fixed, not a gun that got rebalanced.
-
Probably have to agree with this. That's why I said weapon type and not just weapon, because there's been really big individual weapon nerfs, particularly some D1 exotics. I never had a pre nerf Pocket Infinity so I never experienced the madness. When I finally got it, it was meh and I never used it. Didn't it have someting stupid like 8 charges in the mag, then they nerfed it to 3 or 4? Apparently that was the one D1 Y1 exotic that was impossible to balance because I think it's the only Y1 exotic to never make it into Y2 or Y3 at some point (did Vex make it?).
-
Yes, the Vex came back when the Vault was brought up to year 3 levels.
-
Fusion rifles on general got nerfed into the ground. Even when it was a shotgun meta they nerfed it and even when it was a sniper meta they nerfed it again
-
Launch d1 had fusion rifles in an awesome place but Pocket Infinity was on an entirely separate level that only Vex mythoclast was in at the time.
-
Yh they were good and they needed to be nerfed some but them and the entire class of weapon got nerfed over and over again even when no one was using it
-
I'm speaking for the greatness of pocket infinity dummy. Stop droning on about the fusion rifle nerfs, we know.
-
Yeah it was the only one
