Videogames are for children
That's what I often hear from non-gamers which are mostly older people (40+ or so). My parents included, my grandparents included. Also they think it's a,waste of money. I don't really talk to them about videogames. I told them that people all around the world from all ages play videogames but they don't care or don't believe it. Maybe because they never hear of adults gaming.
Do you have made similar experiences? How you deal with it?

It's kinda simple to use the hobby that is video games to prove its a good thing. When I was in Middle-High School, when parents stated I played video games alot, I mentioned that all the kids at my school like to go out and party, doing drugs and drinking alcohol and getting into dumb trouble. Would they perfer me be like all the other kids? When my girlfriend asks why I play video games so much, I ask if she would prefer me and my friends go out to the bars, get drunk and high, and hit on chicks like her friends' boyfriends do? [i](Hung out with them once and that is all they really did)[/i] To put it simply the hobby of playing video games means on your free time you are home enjoying your time off. While others are out doing who knows what.

My parents used to do this shit to me all the time Then they played a game and were having good time and were laughing enjoying themselves. I have never seen them together doing that. Despite all that, "Video games are for kids." Oh and my Dad plays Facebook games lol.

15 отв.I like to give them an example of a thought process while playing a video game. It’s not “Oh, bad guy there, I shoot” It’s more like (If you take Destiny as an example) “Okay, there’s 2 guys on my radar. One is below me and one to my side. Chances are the guy around the corner has a shotgun, so I should go down and take a wider peek around the corner to avoid a shotgun from the second guy. Before I do that, I’ll throw a grenade to slow down the guy near the doorway.”

Hmm. The majority of the 40 year olds like my self have been gaming since the early 80’s. Hard to believe they would be saying gaming is for kids in 2018

My mom plays destiny 2. She's 40. My dad likes bop4 unfortunately. He's 45. So....all of us are children.

Just tell them the industry is bigger than the movie industry. That always shuts anyone up about bashing video games

I've been a gamer since I was 12 and seen my first Space Invaders game. I'm 51 now and still gaming. When someone says shit about it, I tell them its better than watching that network, shit TV people watch. Oh yea, gaming is for kids, yea that's cool, I don't want to be an old fart anyways.

1 ответYep. There’s still a stigma attached to gaming. What annoys me the most is when my wife says “video games are a waste of time”. Yet she’ll quite happily sit there and watch crappy tv shows on Netflix all night.

I like how my grandma and grandpa are big DOOM fans. They're the reason i like shooters lol. It's just another form of entertainment, never got why people don't get that.

Pregaming (as in alcohol) while passing the sticks around on 2k, COD, smash bros., etc before going out for the night is some of the most fun I’ve had in college. 2. The average hardcore gamer is in their 30s 3. Playing certain types of video games challenge your brain to multi-task and can increase spatial awareness. People who play regularly get in fewer auto accidents for this reason. 4. Video games are a growing industry that employ a wide variety of people. 5. Video games is an industrial art form and takes just as much effort and creativity to make as TV/Cinema, and deserves the same respect If people don’t accept the above reasons, they aren’t worth explaining it to

Its funny you put 40+ on the age. I'm 40 and still love games. I guess its those people that never picked up a controller in their life.

My mom has issues with it, my father however sees it kinda like i do except a little bit less knowledgeable about it, he does enjoy the fact that i can interact with so many people
