#Remove Eververse: Activision Blizzard has $17.452 billion in total assets.

Many of you have your heart in the right place and believe these multi million dollar companies need to add new revenue streams to survive modern game development, but the numbers just don't fit that narrative. Let's look at some numbers shall we? Destiny 2's publisher's (Activision) total assets are worth $17.452 billion. https://www.forbes.com/companies/activision-blizzard/ https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.polygon.com/platform/amp/2017/2/9/14568722/activision-blizzard-2016-earnings-record Not sure what Destiny 2's developer (Bungie) is worth, but just their website is estimated to be worth 91,000,000. https://www.worthofweb.com/website-value/bungie.net/ The lowest paid Bungie software designer makes $80,000. https://www.glassdoor.com/Salary/Bungie-Salaries-E284423.htm Hell Bobby Kotick (Activision's CEO) is worth $2,000,000,000 by himself. How many engrams you think he's bought? https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.polygon.com/platform/amp/2013/4/26/4272696/activision-bobby-kotick-highest-paid-ceos-65-million-salary This company doesn't need Eververse to feed themselves. It's purely greed.

  • So because a company is successful and has a healthy revenue stream, there just supposed to shut one down because of some kid whining about not having a seasonal armor shader? You do realize this is first and foremost a business, and in business your in it to make money. And their #1 priority is to the stock holders of their company. I own shares in the compay, and watched them grow in a short time from 19 dollars a share to trading at around 65 today. And their potential earnings are very good. If this were a non profit company, you'd have a point. But it's not, and when your competition like Electronic Arts is hot on your heals, you need to do things to stay ahead and not go under. Trust me that 80k a year developer you mentioned (and if you think that's fair compensation for a developer, your sadly mistaken) isn't interested in loosing his livelihood because some kids can't afford 1.99 for a shader and wants a micro transaction system gone. Heck, you ever stop to think that the only reason that stuff is in game is because it's paid for by micro transactions? Careful what you wish for, they could take Eververse away, and all of its goodies with it.
