My speaker worked when first connected, but I didnt know what the mode button did and slid it just as it was midway through speaking for the first time. From that point it only worked through the echo dot.
I tried all the troubleshooting I found (sliding the mode switch 10x , reconnecting everything, etc) no luck with any of it.
I thought the 10x switching meant there must be other combinations of switching aswell so I tried switching the mode 5x , and this seemed to turn the speaker into a bit of a light show for a few minutes, and I could see it disconnecting and reconnecting to my wifi alot. It eventually settled with the all lights off with just the red light on (ready to connect to dot state) and to my suprise, it worked after this.
My guess is sliding the mode switch 5x downloads/updates the speaker (without a factory reset).
Hope it helps.

Hi thanks for the info I used your 5x mode switch and it worked my ghost is now talking to me.

Hey, this is great info. How long would you say it took for the ghost to update? Mine had been flashing red with the blue eye light turning on and off occasionally, as well as doing some flashing for the good part of at least 15 min. Maybe longer.
