Many of you have your heart in the right place and believe these multi million dollar companies need to add new revenue streams to survive modern game development, but the numbers just don't fit that narrative.
Let's look at some numbers shall we?
Destiny 2's publisher's (Activision) total assets are worth $17.452 billion.

Not sure what Destiny 2's developer (Bungie) is worth, but just their website is estimated to be worth 91,000,000.

The lowest paid Bungie software designer makes $80,000.

Hell Bobby Kotick (Activision's CEO) is worth $2,000,000,000 by himself. How many engrams you think he's bought?

This company doesn't need Eververse to feed themselves. It's purely greed.

The amount of tension and conflict on the forums against Bungie's greedy BS is much more engaging than Ghaul and the whole campaign of their own game. Hell not even players work this United during raids. Block's ticking bungie, get your shit together before we reach the final boss of this raid, YOU!

If they are a well managed and run company their overhead should be about 30% of their total earnings. That would mean they have 12.9 billion approximately to invest, pay dividends, etc. Not bad for a company that only deals in entertainment. Now add on the 100 or so dollars spent on Eververse by approximately 1 million Destiny players and that is solid profit. Activision is certainly has active vision.

Изменено (astral): 12/23/2017 10:15:36 PMThe Eververse is now out of hand and just needs to be gone. All microtransactions should be gone until you actually fix the foundational issues that are still present in Destiny after all it's DLC and D2 release. You have passion for good gunplay and visuals but the content and gameplay systems that will make people truely enjoy your games is lost. You have tried one to many times to please the fans just to break something or slide something shady under the rug for players to figure out complain and the cycle of Destiny madness starts again. You guys just really have no idea what you are doing anymore. Its sad but it's the truth.

No need to remove Eververse. Just change the 'XP level up' reward to be a Dawning Engram. Then we can play whatever activities we want and earn multiple Dawning Engrams per week.
Contact the ESRB and let them know games like destiny should be rated mature Games with lootboxes should be rated mature. Easiest way to get rid of eververse is to get the rating changed for destiny 2. If a couple thousand complain that lootboxes are not for childern Bungie will be forced to make changes. They can't afford to be a mature game.
To be fair, assets don't equal profit or cash on hand. I have over $500,000 in assets, but that's just because I own my house, two cars, and 5 acres of land. That doesn't mean I have $500,000 to spend. That's why when people talk about the super rich, like Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, and they talk about how much he made last year, they fail to understand that he's not collecting $billions in pay checks, it's just his assets (Amazon specifically) increased in value. Yes, he's rich, but he doesn't have $100Billion to spend, he has $100B in assets. He'd have to sell all his assets to actually get the money. So yes, Activision has a lot of assets, but that doesn't mean they're rolling in cash. The other articles you have, talking about how much money their CEOs are making, that shows they're rolling in cash!

In D1 when Eververse started there were TONS of us who tried to Warn the community that Eververse would bring around what is happening today and will continue to get worse. We were ridiculed and mocked by The Bungie Defense Force (BDF), till we stopped wasting our time trying to warn the community. We told you so..... Personally I do not believe anything will change. Keep trying and good luck. To you BDF Members who will have their panties in a bunch, go-head and comment its your right.

Does Activision need to maximize profits over the player experience? No. They control some of the highest grossing IPs in todays market such as WoW, Overwatch, CoD, Skylanders, and of course, Destiny. Should they find ways to monetize a game past the initial $60 sale? Yes, in order to fulfill their duties to their shareholders and maintain healthy profit margins. I don't begrudge a publisher for trying to monetize a game so long as it's fair to the consumer - no rng micros, cosmetic only options (no pay 2 win), and non-intrusive to the gameplay experience. And I won't go into how important micros and DLC are to the overall financial health of the industry. But many in the industry have become overly reliant on rng micros (see EA, Battlefront 2, and FiFA Ultimates), which are a detriment to player experience.

Bungie should be ashamed

Seems we rattled their cage.. Christopher Barrett, Destiny Lead "Happy Holidays Guardians. I hope you are enjoying the The Dawning or at least a bit of chaos in Mayhem. There are a few things I want to mention before the year ends..." "For the upcoming Iron Banner and Faction Rally events, in addition to brand new seasonal armor Ornaments, we’re adding new themed Sparrows, Ghosts, Ships, and Shaders to the reward pools." "Also, early next year, we’re refactoring Raid itemization across the game. The most difficult activities should be the most rewarding." "And finally, I know we say it a lot, but we hear your feedback on Eververse. We both want our players to feel respected, and to deliver great content regularly to our community. Expect lots of discussion with the dev team and an update on our path forward after the new year." "One more for good measure. We have short term and long term solutions for Vault space in the works, since I know that is another hot topic."

I spent 10 bucks on dawning engrams and I only got ghost shells and shaders lol

I really don't think you understand what Net Worth means in the context of a publicly traded company, its not like they have a checking account with 17 Bill in it. Most of that worth is in stock, also worth noting that as a publicly traded company the CEO has basically no other responsibility than to keep shareholders happy with returns(I.E. show that they have a monetization model that works, which so far it has). Im not saying Eververse is a good thing, but this argument against it is kinda weak IMO.

Изменено (MightyJonE): 12/24/2017 2:12:25 AMOf course these are wealthy companies. The problem is, when you float your company on the stock markets, selling shares of your business, you’re then under enormous pressure from your new-found shareholders who now own a piece of the pie, to make MORE money and continue to make MORE money, and to be relentless in your attempts to make more money, like a shark on a killing frenzy. If you don’t, then you can find yourself in a very shaky position with your shareholders, and in a worst case scenario, find yourself dismissed from your own company or even lose it in a hostile takeover. By selling shares in your business, what you gain in wealth, you lose in independence. It’s your choice

Look guys. Unless everyone stops playing destiny and actually stops buying items from Ev store, they will keep doing what there doing. Bungie just released a statement today and they basicall ignored the fact alltogether about Ev and offset it to how we need more vault space and how they added ghosts and sparrows to faction rallies and Iron banner. Further diluting the loot pool. WE DONT NEED MORE SPARROWS AND GHOSTS. We need to organize a dry day were not one single person logs on to destiny for a day to show them how serious we are. Then for a week or a month if need be. That is the only way they will take us serious if we actually STOP playong the game. Otherwise were just a bunch of whiney children they keep apologizing too, but really show no change. They have issued 3 appologies so far with no real solution to the problem. There solution was the dawning. Shows how serious they take is. I love destiny. Between D1 and D2 across both my accounts i have 4000 hours played. We need or organize days where the majority of the playerbase does not sighn on in order to show them how serious we are or we will just get another soology and itll get swept under the rug. Destiny is meant to be a 10 year game NOT a 10 year BETA. Lets make it great again -Mentor
