Cue salt
So with the bringing in of the new DLC, the Flashpoint has been moved to the new planet. Mercury...
Well done for locking out base game content for people unwilling to purchase the DLC.
Is this going to be the aggressive marketing strategy to force people to buy the DLC or they're going to find it even harder to max out as a very casual player?

Man I came for answers and got drama. Thanks, Nebulous, for the insight; I have the DLC and was curious as to if they just locked people out or provided a different flashpoint. Real awful move on Bungie's part. Also Mercury is barely a planet lmao.
-
Why do you carry on playing if you don't plan on getting the dlc. ???. Really. What's the point?
-
You still have Xur
-
Can not believe the arguments that non DLC players are idiots for not buying the DLC so they can continue to complete milestones. Their was a simple solution to this in D1 and it was called level advantage. If you wanted to be as powerful as possible then you needed the most up to date DLC to get there and it actually made a difference. Now it means nothing so the base game is now even more diluted to force people to buy the DLC to simply continue to do what they have always done? Ps. Non DLC players did not cause the restrictions paid DLC players are now experiencing, Bungie did with their less than ethical business practices. Take your tongue from down the back of Bungie's trousers snowflakes.

There is no reason that those who purchased the dlc should never be able to have these activities on locations they purchased. It wont be on mercury every week so calm down. . Same way with Trials. Some weeks it will be on a map that utilizes new content. Some weeks it wont. . You cannot justify never allowing those who bought the dlc to never get to experience this content on locations they paid for just because you don't want to buy it. . Look at things from all points of views before just jumping on a biased opinion.
-
Really who actually cares here, you non dlc owners are already getting more than you should have done as it is, I personally liked Bungies view of trying to keep all content relevant by keeping the power level at a level to keep it challenging and worth doing regardless on if it locks non dlc owners out of said content or not, easy solution is just to buy the dlc if you want to continue gaining access to these things. Buy the Dlc or get left behind that’s what it should be
-
i think you should quit while youre ahead. It's 1 flashpoint for 1 week. In many other games you would lose this option all together. They didn't cut the content... they put it on rotation to include the new dlc locations, same with trials. An aggresive marketing strategy? Definetly reaching there... noone is forcing you to do anything. If they wanted to force it they'd have locked the milestone altogether. How about we trade? you can have mercury but you get locked out of Iron Banner, Trials, and the Faction Rallies like Bungie originally had it? Point is... Yes... you lose 1 week of Flashpoint but that's hardly something to be on the forums crying about.
-
This thread is a one-man mission to hop on the 'I lost content' bandwagon when you just haven't lost any content. You have a case that the flashpoint should perhaps be at an alternate location for non-DLC owners, but beyond that, your argument is flawed and a transparent attempt at a #metoo rant regarding content lockout...
-
So according to you... every week we should ignore new content and stick with old content. You know, in other MMOs you would be screwed completely by not purchasing expansions.
-
welcome to destiny 2 where the game is intended for the casual player but both casual and experienced get shafted. enjoy you stay. :)
-
So the game should never advance because you didn’t buy the DLC? I hope they put Xur on Mercury.
-
Guess what
you can’t do the raid lair either
-
Wasn’t in the base game, it’s a new planet
-
That’s not a casuals perspective.
-
i was thinking of actually honestly replying to this, instead i have only one thing to say. lol, you cheap ass -blam!-.
-
Well we get that the base game cost more so that’s what u got. U payed for the base game and u played all the content that was inside of it so now that there is a DLC, people pay for the content inside of that. Staying relevant to the game comes through the DLC and I bungie kept all the stuff behind then the people who payed $20 would not be experiencing the full potential of Curse or Osiris
-
It would have been locked completely as like in Destiny 1 unless people started getting refunds. I remember having a screen full of locks everywhere except year 1 PvP when Rise of Iron was released and it was like forever... They'll probably reconsider how the next DLC launched, I'm actually happy with this solution, only locks daily/weekly occasionally.
-
So 1 out of every 4? 5? weeks you won't get to do a Flashpoint. Not a big deal.
-
I think it’s fine, it’s not like the Flashpoint will be Mercury every week
-
Oh boo hoo. You miss out on 1 engram. Go cry us a river eleswhere.
-
Give us your address so we can uninstall both the game and this app for you. No one cares that you have to skip a week of flash points. You shouldn’t get Xur changes either but I’m sure you partook in those.
-
guess what. i got the Lens and i didn't buy the DLC. seems like a decent trade off. can't Flashpoint this week, but still able to get CoO gear from Xur. neat.
-
Lol "I can't access content I didn't pay for! WTF BUNGIE! GIVE ME THINGS I DIDN'T EARN." That is you. When any game upgrades, and you don't pay for the new content, you get left behind. Quit whining and either buy Curse or go play something else. Your complaint is part of the problem. This isn't a new marketing strategy, it's how it works. You don't want to pay for the content, you can go somewhere else. See ya.
-
locking out base game content
You must be joking. Do you even know what that is? Mercury did not come with the base game therefore, your complaint is already invalid
-
You stated the problem AND the answer in one sentence.
-
It’s a max of three engrams/6 gear items. This is for one week. And it’s just $20 jfc. That’s not even an hour up to maybe 3 hrs of work if you work min wage (in America at least) And if $20 is such a money crunch you may need to prioritise your monetary policy and lay of the video games.... people act like paying $20 is the end of the world. Is it over priced, a bit. But hell, I’ve had a ton of fun in the DLC and the raid lair has a Templar/Aksis vibe. Please stop complaining. And what is bungie supposed to do? Never use new planets for weekly things? That’s about as dumb as permanently locking the raid above vanilla cap
