1. Bump, because this is an issue.
a. Sticky with an answer because this question is not going to stop. If it is not sticky'd then keep bumping this, voice your story here!
b. Poll to let Bungie know
2. Bungie we love you, we love your game, but you are idiots. Customer Service means going above and beyond. You did that to a point to where many honest players who have looked forward to your game and simply want to have a fun time with their friends and their clan, can't. Without a reasonable explanation as to why. Those good and honest people are the reason why you have the money to make Destiny 2 in the first place. Thank you for bringing it to PC and being very strict and caring of the community so that they have the great Destiny feel in their mouse and keyboard, without the worry of cheating. Thank you for bringing it to the community who uses programs in the background to enhance their visual experience. Those who spend thousands on 4k monitors with 144-180Hz refresh rates and graphics cards that can keep up. Thank you for bringing it to those who care about their gaming experience and don't play casually.
3. So the questions I have seen have been:
a. Why?
b. What did I do wrong?
c. What can I do?
4. The answer has been:
a. Silence
b. https://www.bungie.net/en/Help/Article/46101
c. Bungie has updated their original blog post admitting that other players were indeed banned by mistake, walking back their original statement to some degree. They write: "As part of our ban review process, we have identified a group of players who were banned in error. Those players have been unbanned. The bans were not related to the third-party applications listed above. We will continue to review the process we use to ensure a fun and fair game."
d. More bans(and all seemingly at the same time right before Xur? I mean that is a weekend that other players now possibly have an advantage of if these players get their accounts back for being wronged.)
5. Back to you being idiots. As a company you look pretty bad in the eyes of many right now and even before I was banned I was super paranoid about making sure I didn't get banned. Turned off all in game overlays, didn't even think of streaming it because of the risk. The only think I seemed to have used was Battle.Net for chatting with friends and a second monitor to use a bungie companion to transfer equipment quickly. I stop playing for 1 weekend for work and I come back banned for being paranoid as you are.
a. You are killing your PC player base. Think of 400 users banned with only 100 of them being cheating scum of the earth. Thats $40,000 spent on the game if they got the deluxe edition. Not so much to a big company like bungie. Now Destiny 3 comes out, you think that your player base will maintain. In reality it dropped 300 good users because the relationship with the company has suffered. My raid group is only 6 people now its down to 5 and we can't have the full experience of the game and we are now all mad at bungie. So we don't play as much and eventually lose interest. 300 good players banned can mean 1,500 good players angry at a company that we want to love and respect. It can be a snowball effect once it gets pushed far enough.
b.Articles like these spread across the web, https://www.forbes.com/sites/erikkain/2017/10/25/destiny-2-pc-players-claim-widespread-bans-bogus-but-bungie-disagrees/#6b0bd0b341f5
c. How the heck are we supposed to know right off the bat that something like MSI afterburner would have an effect on destiny? No where in the program does it say that it is going to effect software in any way. Personally I like my GPU running nice and cool so I have my fan levels set higher than default. There shouldn't be any problem with that. If there is then don't put it in the fine print. Make one of your information boards in game say hey look here are something that conflict with this game and may impact your experience. What if you share the computer with other people and they have installed Razer Cortex to automatically start when you launch a game and you have no idea that it is there. I have OBS running capturing another screen. At times TeamViewer runs in the background which is known to have many incompatibilities with games and is a spawn of a wessel error, but at times needed for remote access, in which many companies use for accessing their clients.
d. If I have an incompatible program on my computer does Destiny look at my process list to see what all I have running? I multitask while I play and use programs that could effect Destiny but I don't use them on destiny because that would be wrong. I have my own projects and security I have to think about. I have hardware that can handle doing many things at the same time, like playing other games between loading screens. What if you plug Cheat Engine into Google Chrome is Destiny going to flag that you even have the program running as a violation even though it has no direct interaction to the game?
6. Those who don't forgive people who are imperfect and make mistakes, or don't give them an opportunity to learn to not repeat their mistakes. We call those Dictators, Monopolizers, Haughty, and Hypocrites. Why hypocrites? Because if you were in our shoes you would probably understand why you were so strict but you would be just as angry and just as frustrated and upset as we are and your reaction is, "too bad, so sad." Atari was a great company once and made one bad game, one bad move and everything went to a landfill. We love you. Please don't turn into garbage because it doesn't matter how great the game is or how bad the game is, the support we receive makes the experience worthwhile. That is why companies like EA take in so much support data and why Blizzard has made 11+ Fantastic games that people still play even though they are reaching 20 years old. They listened.
EDIT: after browsing the forms a little more some clarification may be in order. 7.A memory scanner would impact the performance on destiny in a bad way for you. it would slow it down, and not give you any real advantage over the game because everything is done server side other than your physical movements. What they are trying to prevent is things that interact with the game and give you advantages like aim hacks and movement speed hacks that would clearly give you an advantage that you shouldn't have. The fact that it has the ability to inject is enough for bungie to push a ban which is wrong. Especially for developers who may be looking at how to prevent hacks by hacking their own programs and understanding how they work in order to combat them. If you are taking courses in school for cyber security then you may be using such programs in a white hat manner. They shouldn't ban you for having the program. That's like them saying you can't play our game because you play CoD, or your skin is blue and you talk funny. The second that the program makes the INJECTION into DESTINY 2 then you have violated that. BUT Bungie apparently will ban you for having it run AT ALL. run ***.exe = ban. Oh my goodness Bungie have you heard of viruses even? To memory scan so that they get your personal information and hack your life. On top of that you ban their account because they got hacked. Some people out there must be having a really bad day.
8. It is said that every single ban is carefully examined. We all know how a day at work goes. Its really easy to get into a routine of what is right and what is wrong then at the end of the day knowing your work load will be easier if you just clicked that ban button because the program flagged it as so. Its one person so it shouldn't effect you too much right? If you think that you are greater than this, than us, that you don't need to change. Then we have already lost you. Change is the only way to grow. That is how EA pulled away from its rut, that is how Blizzard takes care of itself
9. We are ready to forgive you, if you give us the opportunity by forgiving us for the crime against you that we did not know we committed or in the case of many others, that we did not commit.

This guys article was interesting it may have some merit if it is an IP ban. If so then its a really serious issue.

A friend of mine linked me this thread, so I thought I'd give it a bump as well. I was banned last weekend; I honestly do not know what the reason is. I've played the game since launch, made quite a few happy memories there, but it's seriously soured by having the account taken from me with no reason, and with no explanation either. I have filled out the appeal form, but the response to that was a little odd - apparently, they have no intention of responding to me unless the ban is lifted, which means, in particular, I have no means to know the current state of my appeal. My expectation, obviously, is that they will do absolutely nothing. What I find most remarkable about this is the fact that they appear to have only one singular form of punishment, which is a lifetime ban. A little draconian if you ask me. Part of me clearly hopes they will look into the issue and lift the ban, but part of me also hopes that I never get any response, which would remove any temptation to ever spend money on a Bungie product again.

Hello players, my story is this. We all know that Artmoney does not work in online games, it can only change the visible data (numbers) on the client side, for example, you have 10,000 gold in the game and through Artmoney you make yourself 100,000 gold, you as a player see them but in fact (on the server) you still have 10,000 gold and only that you can spend, this is how it works in all normal online games. In some MMO games I joked with my friends, look how rich I am (I took screenshots and showed them to my friends), it was funny to see their surprise, but then I told them the truth. And such actions do not bring any benefit, because it is an illusion. And in Destiny 2, I also wanted to play a trick on my friends. I could not do this, because the game had just closed, and what was my surprise when, after 10 minutes, I was banned for 182500 days (500 years). Giving such prohibitions for an illusion is complete nonsense, for this you need to issue a warning. UPD Adequate anti-cheat should not let the player into the game or not start the game if inappropriate programs are noticed, and should not be banned for 500 years.

#Bump I was banned today for doing absolutely nothing. I just bought Destiny 2 on Steam after missing the date to transfer my data from Battle.net. I went AFK for a little bit, got back and was kicked with an error code "Unable to connect to network". When trying to log back in, it said "NOT SO FAST!" "This account has been banned, for more information, please go to bungie.net/ban" - Absolutely ridiculous.
-
I was banned today for no reason. I have never even thought of cheating in Destiny. I have spent over $500 on this game. A number I was surprised by. I looked at my Battle.net to find this info. I preordered Forsaken a few days ago. Why the hell would I cheat now. The only reason that I can think I was banned is because I mod Borderlands 2. A single player game that was released six freaking years ago. Modding is what has kept that game going for as long as it has. I played Borderlands shortly before I started up Destiny this morning. I use a program called Borderlands Commander to mod while playing the game. Having this running is the only reason I can possibly fathom that I was banned. It doesn't even hook into DESTINY so why the hell would I be banned for using it. I spend so much money on this game. I'm the type of guy to buy silver cause I just gotta have that new ghost or ship or sparrow. I'm just sad about all this. If I'm not unbanned I am seriously done FOREVER with you Bungie. FOREVER!

1 ответBump! Banned out of the blue after not even logging on for three weeks. Fantastic.

If this is the anti-cheat system they're using, then they should not even be using it at all. I'd rather they not even bother releasing the game on PC if you're going to be using an anti-cheat system that's worse than GameGuard that's falsely flagging things as cheating. The fact that they had to reverse any bans tells me that those bans were not carefully examined. If they were, not a single ban would ever need to be reversed. At this point, it doesn't matter how good Destiny 2 is or might become. The fact that this has happened twice and is continuing to happen with Bungie defending that this is the way it is intended to be has killed any belief I have in this company. At this point, you're gambling with your $60 or $100 and praying that Bungie doesn't ban you before you get what you want out of the game.

I️ was failing at a nightfall when all of a sudden I️ got a disconnect error, and when I️ tried to log back in I️ got the “not so fast” ban error. I️ have never cheated on an online game. Nor tried to... there is absolutely nothing that should have flagged me. I️ run two screens and was watching YouTube on the other screen. I’m upset mainly because the only response I️ get is... “we don’t have a problem” I️ don’t like to be called a cheater. I’m not and for a company to steal my money from me by refusing access to a game I️ purchased.

I also was banned for no reason and no response from any customerservice so dont know what to do now.

1 ответWell, nothings really been done yet. This appeared today though https://www.destructoid.com/destiny-2-and-its-terrible-horrible-no-good-very-bad-ban-policy-471553.phtml

#Bump You can get a refund through Blizzard if you have very little game time on the account. Be sure to check it out as an option. Unfortunately for me I had a light 290 Lock with everything but Trials and the Raid done.
-
He was also banned for nothing, in the game that night he noticed periodic departures from a raid with a mentor. https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/237551493?page=0&sort=0&showBanned=0&path=1 I paid a lot of money, give me back my favorite game I've been waiting for! I do not disown, if you do not do protection for PC games, then most likely you need to apologize, will you double-check? A? The game AAA class is still called, ha. In the clicks that 1 person writes and then the support is better.

1 ответI was recently banned about 3 days ago while I was on a trip about 300 or so miles away from my computer with it turned off and when I returned I found out my account was banned with now warning, notification, or anything. The day before I left I was able to play the game just fine. So why in the hell was I banned when my computer wasn't even running.

Изменено (VeraalFins): 11/8/2017 7:16:46 AMThe ban falls here as well. No feedback, no warning, no obvious or even plausible reason that I can think up with the exception of any one of my usual programs running in the background. Screencapping software, shadowplay, teamviewer, etc. Bought the deluxe edition in a bout of excitement, too. $80- right out the window, only to be answered with a brick through that same window, only without a return address. No appeals system or anything, no applicable explaination, and an accusing guilty verdict that invalidates the status of "Trustworthy player". Hoo-ee, it makes me miss the old days of bungie.
-
i have never been banned from any other pc game this is a first. and then get someone from bungie tell players in the offcial forums they looked into it and every ban had "multiple" times cheat tools running. slap in the face for paying customers who did nothing wrong.

I've also been banned unfairly. https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/237827757?sort=0&page=0

I was banned too and it's infuriating. I was so excited for Destiny coming to PC, I was enjoying the game, stepped in a couple crucible matches with my friends just to do the Rat King quest (and I assure you, I hate pvp and had no plans to go back to the crucible again) and then I got banned for it. I don't -blam!-ing cheat in games and yet the burden of proof is on me somehow, while bungie provides no clear explanation, no real evidence, no means to contact them, nothing and then goes onto their own forums and dismisses all of the people they banned as cheaters. They're absolutely going to lose customers over this.

i've been banned between friday 3 and saturday 4 nov. as i tried to connect on saturday morning and recieved a "not so fast". Before that ? 0 problem playing, was teamed wit hfriends doing some farm, helping leveling, playing my 2nd caracters : nothing else. Then it was a bit late, go to sleep, came back and boom ban hammer. As i said in another post where @Cozmo responded : So tell us, which ones are flagged as "cheat tools" exactly ? i have NONE runing and still i'm banned. Maybe tools like Nvidia shadowplay ? ansel ? Discord ? Epic launcher ? battlenet launcher ? Uplay ? Steam ? or maybe my antivirus ? You accuse us of cheating, i can give you multiple proof that i have NONE. Challenge us, i'm 100% sure you'll revoke a lot of ban but you don't want to, maybe you think it'll make us rebuying the game ?
-
I bought deluxe and then bought silver, along with 2 friends. We all played as a fireteam, I was the worse player out of, always last in pvp and died a lot in pve, but we put some hours in and planned on playing a long time. Couldn't wait for the DLC, then i'm banned one day out of the blue. I never attempted cheating in destiny 2, why would I buy deluxe and then buy silver and take that risk? why would I buy silver if I could cheat and just get bright engrams that way? Wouldn't I have been better at the game? I get no explanation and I'll never see the DLC that I already paid for? Well my 2 other friends have not played the game since I've been banned and told me they are boycotting it. I guess that's 3 deluxe accounts gone that were all buying silver. And the insult of being called a cheater and the hurt of having your money stolen... not very professional.

Well said. I love Bungie games. As a customer and a gamer, I was shocked and confused and angry to receive a ban. As a fellow developer, I have been shocked and appalled by the response.
