I honestly thought Cayde 6 was more or less joking when he said his arm was shot off. Like he got shot in the arm and he couldn't use it, but not that it was actually removed. As far as I remember he still has his arm attached when we meet him before going through the teleporter.

No when we meet him before going into the teleported his entire right hand and part of his forearm are gone. Bungie did that just for comedic purposes so he could yell at Zavala and Ikora to help him and tell us he was gonna get a new hand with a “built in rocket launcher”

Hmm. I might remember it wrong then. Pretty sure I checked to see if they had actually changed his model one of the many times I went through that mission.
