Ego, emotion, religion, sexuality, blind-hate aside, is Destiny a good game ?
Is it a game that will go down in the history books like GTA, Halo, Dark Souls, Need for Speed, (Some) CoDs, FIFA, and any other popular good game?
Personally, I believe it will. I have 1500+ spent on this game alone, the last time I reached even 1000 hours in a game was GTA IV (and that was only because I had Mods lol) but yeah, I loved what Destiny has become and hope for it to prosper in the future.

Изменено (NYDIBS): 8/15/2017 12:26:05 PMIt's a good but very flawed game I don't think it can be considered with those other titles right now. Outside of the destiny community the opinion of the game is very poor Also, destiny played heavily on people's addictions and obsessions, so some of the community are just addicts that continue to play even though they don't actually enjoy the experience

Taking away the layer of attachment I have as a fan, and trying my best to look at it from an objective POV I would say yes, its a good game and yes the franchise could go into the 'history' books. Destiny 1 on its own won't though. Bungie deserve a lot of credit and kudos for what they have attempted, which is essentially crossing several console game genres in one title to make a new genre of their own. The concept and idea is fantastic, but the implementation didn't quite hit the highs it could of until probably The Taken King, it may still be lacking now...thats a personal opinion I guess. The original Destiny will certainly be remembered for what it set out to achieve, and rightly so. It has began to spawn several competitors, which may end up better, but it was the first and it will always have that. I think that it has had too many hiccups to be considered great on its own though, I love the game, I have put a lot of hours in, but we have been used as live testers when you think about it. If D2 builds on where we are right now (and I am hopeful its going to) then as an overall franchise it may well be remembered like those others you have listed. It may not, we haven't got there yet.

Yes. It's a great game that started a new genre of video games: the "shared world experience". And many games have tried to imitate it and do it better than Destiny did, but they can't.
-
It will be remembered as the "pioneer" of the genre. Other than that, it was a "jack of all trades, master of none" game. There were some things it did pretty well and some things that were pretty bad.
-
I think so. The core components are there; great gun play, fairly balanced, attempting to listen to the community most of the time. I just feel that minor tweaks to story and a separation of pvp and pve would make this a great game. I think that the emphasis on player interactions should not be the saving grace for a game because bungee has no control over online interactions at all. I think that bungee has done a great job making these interactions and facilitating them in the most natural way but bungee itself is not responsible for those interactions.

Destiny 1 is a good and relaxing game that deals with co-op and open world activities in a way unique to First Person Shooters. If Destiny was just that standalone game , it would possibly reach "classic" status like the other games you mentioned. Since, they want to make it a franchise,a trilogy, they have to push the boundaries greatly with each iteration. By the time Destiny 3 gets released they have to take huge evolutionary steps since they pretty much have the monopoly and can claim the title of the "pioneer" with the first one. I have to judge Destiny as an entire franchise which will be completed by the end of the lifecycle of Destiny 3 and by that time I will compare it with other similar offerings from other studios, so there is still no telling if Destiny is able to maintain the spot for being a legendary classic game.

It's a mixed bag, i like it but I also don't like it. I like the PvP, but I don't like the weapon/ability balances they keep throwing at us. I like the concepts, themes, and the world of Destiny, but I hate how the developer failed to use them and gave us half baked dlc with a few story missions thrown in to keep the pve community happy

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
-
The only thing good in Destiny is the mechanics and the raid. All other parts are sub par.
-
I think it already is in the history books like the titles mentioned. Anthem could blow destiny out of the water, but you would still think of Destiny when you play it as the inspiration.
-
Destiny is an important game. Judgments about its quality aside, this game is a significant marker in the history of the medium. It will be remembered for its tremendous commercial success as well as its failings, and both will serve as important lessons to future game developers.
-
Gameplay wise it definitely is, but it's full of bullshit business practices and blinded fanboys

Изменено (Jammers211989): 8/15/2017 1:11:04 PMFor me it will go down as one of if not thee best game I've played on PS4. I stopped playing for a time and now regret it so bad! the grind never seems boring. I cant wait for D2. So I start again and properly play it right through and build up some serious hours.
-
Over 100 days across all three characters. I absolutely hated it.... Just kidding, it's my favorite game of all time and can't wait for D2.
-
Hmm.. I don't know. Maybe ask my 33 days played on my titan..?
-
Yes. The problem is that Bungie's new at this, and Destiny can't be Halo and WoW at the same time. So some people are always going to be unhappy with it.
-
Destiny is basically a ripoff of the great game 'Borderlands' with everything fun ripped out of it. It's gunplay is good though. So no, it's nothing special. Except to those who have little experience playing video games, other than copy and pasted FPS games.
-
Flawed? Yes. One of the most memorable experiences I've ever had and I'll never forget a single moment? Abso-blam!-ing-lutely. At the end of the day, with all this hate for Destiny 2, I can assure that a lot of those haters that do play Destiny will come back just because it's more Destiny. Nothing wrong with that.
-
2years ago. . . Yes it was an awesome game, then came the nerf cry babies and boom a great game went sour.

In concept mainly. The idea of the kind of game Bungie is trying to deliver with Destiny is amazing. A game where you can come in to a great world, with great characters and a great story, and you can feel as a part of that world, and be there with your real friends, and/or make new friends. The gameplay is fantastic, and some of the activities that Bungie has created are incredibly unique to console gamers. It is incredible, the way that raids in Destiny bring a group of six people - sometimes best friends, sometimes complete strangers - and can give you an experience that you will live with forever. And on many occasions my fireteam of three have appreciated that growing together as a team in Trials, is one of the best things that has ever happened. This game is full of wholesome moments, but the key is that you experience them together with your friends. It is truly a game that brings people together. Of course, there is much criticism for how D1 shipped. But the fantasy that this game creates, it will not be easy for any other developer to replicate that. It's a shame that Destiny 1 couldn't shape up to its dream. That is its biggest downfall. Not the lack of story, not the lag, not the elitism, none of these on their own. Combined, they all point to the fact that Destiny 1 could not properly or fully deliver on its promise. However Destiny is more than just a bunch of consecutive games; it must be looked at as a franchise as a whole. And only once we reach the end of the franchise, will we be able to look back on all that Destiny was, all the years that we played, and understand that this is the kind of experience that you will never find anywhere else. We will not realise it until then, and we will be too busy playing in the meantime, but once we are done, we will see that Bungie created history with this game. It's not about the game that Destiny is. It's about the experience that playing in the Destiny universe will become for you.

I don't play it as much and the non playing spaces out longer and longer, but I can say without a doubt it is one of the best games I've played. You can only grind for so long, but I remember getting my first legendary piece of gear was the best felling and grinding it out for a weapon and Chest piece was the hardest thing I remember doing in Year one Destiny. Doing the missions and exploring, it was the best thing I had seen in a game in a long time, The strikes were fun and the PvP was more, check out how powerful I am. No competitiveness, just abilities and exotic spam. I was strictly a Pulse and Fusion rifle user and the fact that my first exotic from what I can recall, I might be wrong it might have been universal remote, but I'm sure it was Red Death. I was excited to give it a spin in PvP when PvP was "you have an exotic? It will be powerful in PvP." It was my counter to the thorn craze. Remember Felwinters lie? They should have slapped a scope on that because it's accuracy was out of control,m. Like I said I was strictly a Pulse and Fusion, so when Iron Banner came around I grinded the hell out of it for my Perun's Fire, that thing was a beast and I had actually received a few messages saying it was nice to see someone using fusions other then Felwinters lie. I hate shotguns with a passion and was never really all that good with them. Anyways, my best memories of the game are back in Year one, it was an amazing feeling, but I continued with the series and nothing to help accommodate the solo players with raids, so I'm done. I never got to experience Vault of Glass on release and Crota's end a few of my cousins were willing to help, but I was in a PS4 do I declined and moved on to other games. My time on the forums will end soon as well. No point in being around when you will not continue with the franchise,
