Thousands.
I heard sea turtles can live to be a hundred years old, but this. You just added a zero and made it plural.
I'm an engineer, not a doctor. Why is he not dead, Jim?

Изменено (Quiet_Bushi): 8/8/2017 2:02:06 PMIt's not me saying this, but destinypedia, actually the best source of informations about Destiny. Even more that Bungie itself, it seems. Check by yourself:
" Thousands of years prior, Ghaul also managed to lead a united military coup against Dominus Calus single-handedly, demonstrating his adept skills and charisma toward his people."
Not trying to call you out, just the concept itself. That kind of lifespan makes this guy seem to be written like he's immortal, which is more distracting than intimidating. It raises so many questions.
Human lifespan was increased by the traveler, but why are the cabal almost immortal without its influence? What's their birthrate and rate of development? How old is "old enough" to fight? Does their military serve in exile because their planet is overpopulated? How accepting are the cabal to changes in technology, politics, society, and warfare? What keeps their development from stagnating if their leaders are stubborn (remember, it took the bubonic plague to save Europe from stagnating. The plague opened the way for new ideas and innovations because it not only created a need, but removed many of those too stubborn to allow these innovations to be tested or practiced)?
The Asari in mass effect have long lifespans, but it isn't distracting as we see the impact it has their actions and culture. It plays a large role in their overall identity and adds depth to individual characters rather feeling tacked on as an afterthought or compensation for other characters and races.
I get that a long lived war turtle would have some experience under his belt, but I'd be more intimidated by Handsome Jack trying to take the traveler than Ghaul.
Please no ME references as Bioware killed ME series with EA. No single player DLC for MEA announced.

And it should die with the failure of Andromeda as a flag ship as to why mass effect fan fiction shouldn't be funded as a full game. There was no call for a set up like that, especially when it breaks established lore. Otherwise, mass effect still stands as a defining moment in gaming history. Both with a story that pushes the limitations possible by a video game and an ending that should be remembered as a warning to storytelling as a whole (unless shepherd was indoctrinated, but that's up for debate).

Of course, I can't asnwer your questions. We all know that Bungie's story is full of plot holes and lacks of vital and basic informations. Probably, we'll discover something about the Cabal history in D2. Until that moment, I can only tell you that Cabal use crio-technology when their are sent towards other planets (this could mean all or nothing, anyway the source of this information si a dialogue with Cayde-6 during the "Ascension of the Hunters" quest, if I remember correctly it's the dialogue after reached the level 20) and that the exile before the departure is part of a sort of "war ceremony". A Cabal must come back home as a winner or not return at all. I think it's a sort of "intimidating way to motivate them to win at all cost". I don't think this have something to do with overpopulation problems or things of this kind, but still, who knows? About what I've written before, this is the interview made by the guys of Gameinformer to Mark Nosewrothy, Lead Creators. That's what he said:
"Long before the Cabal took aim at Earth, the Consul advised Ghaul in his military coup of the Cabal, unseating and exiling the prior Cabal Emperor named Calus."

http://www.gameinformer.com/games/destiny_2/b/playstation4/archive/2017/06/11/destiny-2s-lead-creators-discuss-story-direction.aspx
We know that the Cabal arrived on Phobos and then on Mars centuries before after the Collapse. We know that the Destiny's story moves through time in periods of centuries. The City is more then four centuries old, and Bracus Tho'ourg was the Cabal Commander who killed the first Guardians on Mars during the Dark Age, so before the City Age started. At least, he is more then four centuries old, meaning that the Cabal have a long lifespan after all and probably they use to increase their longevity by using crio-technology. So, yes, you're right. Maybe we can't talk about thousands years. I've hust seen there is no source information point on destinypedia about this, so it's probably just a their own speculation. However, at least we know the Cabal seem to have a pretty good lifespawn. We can suppose that Ghaul became the Military Emperor at least 5-6 centuries before the Cabal reached Earth.

Destinypedia seems to have made that connection from a Gameinformer interview. In the interview Bungie only say "Long before the Cabal took aim at Earth, the Consul advised Ghaul in his military coup of the Cabal, unseating and exiling the prior Cabal Emperor named Calus."
