Halo wasn't praised for master chief's lines or personality. In fact, Halo 4 & 5 have way more chief lines & involvement in story telling, & they're regarded as the worst halo titles.

1.) My unedited thread never said Halo was praised for Master Chief's dialogue. You are wrong. However, it was praised, and having a voiced protagonist did not make the game worse or detract from it. 2.) The second Halo trilogy is not mentioned in my unedited thread. In fact, I explicitly call out the first trilogy specifically. The second trilogy is not despised because Master Chief has lines. It is despised for disregarding the source material. i think that takes care of that

Except you didn't take care of anything. The whole point of my comment was that a voiced protagonist has no effect on how good a game is, so your "argument to end all arguments" is useless.
-
i'm missing the point where anybody said anything to do with your comment whatsoever
Halo had a voiced protagonist that thrilled a generation of fans, to some who believe the original Halo franchise is the best FPS experience of all time
This part.

Изменено (K1dP5ycho): 7/31/2017 3:29:30 AMYou did. You mentioned Halo. In your original post. Think about what you have to say before retorting. Also, he's right. Chief and Noble Six's dialogue was but a few words per game. Whenever something was needed to be said, it was either done by proxy or by singular phrases. In Destiny, we have Ghost as our proxy, much like Chief had Cortana and Noble Six had the rest of Noble Team. What we have now is no different to what has been released before and should be treated as a way to allow players to effectively roleplay the Guardian they want to be. I mean, that is the whole purpose of the RPG segments of this game, to imagine your idea of who your Guardian is in this world. EDIT: Halo 3 ODST is a prime example of another game with a silent protagonist. The Rookie is OUR character and he never utters a line. Not one. Yet it is considered to be one of the best Halo titles for its storytelling, because the rest of the cast were chockful of dialogue. So why is Destiny any different?

I think for our ghost to be a worthy companion to speak for us, I need to see it. Countless times throughout Destiny he refers to 'us' as if he's doing as much work as I am. I need to be able to feel almost proud of my ghost when he refers to us. Another reason as to why the rookie is such a prime example of a silent protagonist is that 1. There aren't many cutscenes of him interacting with others. 2. The game shows, not tells, he therefore doesn't need to speak 3. He's alone for majority of the game which means he can't talk to anyone anyway. 4. If he did speak in ODST it would seem unrealistic, (who commentates themselves when they're alone?) Anyway, i'm not fully open to fully voiced guardians, so if Bungie is taking the silent treatment, they need to design their storytelling structure more aligned with ODST.

Except Cortana and Noble team never spoke for Chief and Noble Six, our Ghost, however, speaks for me which also means I don't have a say in anything in Destiny, my ghost does. How does Bungie expect the player to be there own guardian when we can't make our own decisions?
unless narrative options are a thing which would change EVERYTHING
That's just it, there are none (or, at least, none that have been confirmed). Destiny is not an RPG. Even if it was, most RPGs have a defined path in the storyline. Sure, you have multiple side quests to do and places to explore, but the end result is always going to be you travelling from Point A to Point B. People need to stop asking for the voice. The presence of the voices in Vanilla Destiny 1 detract from the RPG elements the game has. If Bungie wanted it to be anything more than a conversation progressor, they would have added the option to select the voice you wanted. Since Ghost is fully capable of speaking for us (since, you know, we are only alive because of him, after all), it should not be that much of a problem. Make up your own head canon for the story of your character and stop relying on Bungie to do it for you.

You beat me to making a reply, & you worded it better than I would've. Damn you lol
