All this talk about the new weapon system.
There's a lot of discussion on the forums at the moment about whether or not the new weapon system is going to effective. Are we disregarding whether or not it's going to be fun? Has anybody ever really been playing a strike or a raid and thought to themselves " I wish I could quickly change to a slightly different primary weapon right, that would be so much fun"? I know me personally I love swapping to a fusion, or a sniper, or a shotgun for a change of pace when I get bored of plugging away with a primary, then whip out a sword or rocket after a while.
Is two primary weapons really fun?

25 отв.Maybe, as has been suggested, PVP load outs should be separated from PVE. As a matter of fact, PVP load outs should be restricted to the base weapons - the first weapons we received in D1. Make everyone have to use plain basic weapons and the most-skilled players should rise to the top.

2 отв.I can see it being fun if you actually make a loadout you like. I'm gonna enjoy having a scout and an SMG but having two of the same weapon seems counter-productive.

It does to me in a way. You've got to remember that SMGs and Sidearms will also occupy those two spots.

Hells yeah it'll be fun. Or at least it'll be convenient which makes things more fun and less obnoxious. I hate having to switch between two different primaries I know I'll be using during an activity, so this new weapon system is great for somebody like myself.

It pretty clear that this change is meant to adress one of the biggest problems at the core of Destiny. That being: why should I use a primary weapon, when my secondary weapons are massively more powerful? It was also a problem of special weapons being MORE powerful than power weapons (based on the amount of kills that can be gotten at max ammo and the fact that kill times can be just as fast). Overall, special weapons were the only logical choice in most encounters in PVE and they were especially overused in PVP. They tried making special weapons more specialized, but that was ineffective since it meant nerfing them into oblivion. Then they tried restricting special ammo to make them more like power weapons, but that just aggrivated people because then they could only rely on their one primary weapon for most encounters. It seems that only a large and sweeping change to the weapon sandbox would be able to adress such a flaw, and that's where we are now.

Two primary weapons has got to be more fun that sitting up on a rock with a sniper for 10 minutes. Im all for it, honestly.

It's like the weapon system from halo. Br and plasma pistol. DMR and Saw. That type of thing

I think it has potential if its done right. I kind of look at it as the plasma pistol/br combo from Halo. If done right, you can be very effective.

The reason behind the change is so we can: Use an elemental weapon to take down shields, or whatever else they may have depending..., then switch to a potentially more powerful weapon (weather that is a power or primary) and finish off the enemy. Firstly, his sounds cool except that why wouldn't you just kill it with a power weapon? And if you did, what would be the point of having a kinetic primary? That is if both elemental and kinetic do the same damage. It would kinda make sense to have ALL elemental weapons do less damage overall than kinetics. Secondly, I would imagine that Bungie has created encounters to suit the new weapon configuration. There are lots of changes in D2 and this would seem logical. And lastly, and some of you may not like this, but it's true... THIS IS TO APPEASE THE WISHES OF THIS VERY FORUM! Do you remember all the posts crying for elemental primaries?? I do. Now we have them coming, they serve a purpose, and you're all complaining. I really do not know about this place sometimes.

Personally? Not at all. The autorifles are basically pointless in pve, same with pulse rifles. So if I had a good roll HC, why would I want to switch to another HC. Never had a problem just switching primaries in the zones in between fights. But I do find myself always saying, "damnit I need more heavy and special ammo to drop" They said they are focusing more on the story and pve, but everything they've done is inarguably for PvP purposes...

I have never ever said to myself "Self, what I'd really love to have is another primary I can swap to really quickly in case tish goes down." It's not something that is going to be empowering for me. It'll be fun for those who have allowed themselves to be conditioned to relying on a primary weapon to do pretty much everything, since nearly every tweak Bungie has made for Special weapons since the April update has impacted special weapons and your ability to use them liberally in PVE. But those people have pretty much been conditioned to relying on just a single primary anyways - because they are already used to playing with their foot in a bucket. But I doubt these changes would have been embraced had they occurred after HoW when there was basically no limit to how much we could use our special in PVE. And it is not going to make us feel more powerful. I hear people talk about Bungie being able to control armor/hitpoints on the PVE side and so they can scale things to make you feel the power loss less. However, If you kept the scaling in D2 the same, but were able to use a Y1 style loadout, there is no doubt that the Y1 loadout which features TWO power weapons would undoubtedly feel more powerful - and therefore, for many people out there, myself included, you would be more powerful with the traditional loadout. [Edit] And in PVE, feeling more powerful = more fun. Finally, Luke Smith already confirmed that PVP and PVE won't be separated. Sure, they can now target specific weapons instead of archetypes, but because PVP and PVE are still not separated. So the most powerful weapons in PVP will get nerfed. Those weapons are likely to be primary weapons since we will be forced to rely on primaries more in both modes. And since we have to rely on primaries more in PVE, we will likely feel those nerfs even more on the PVE side. The bottom line is that the new loadout restrictions change very little from Bungie's philosophy over the last two years. Its simply another nerf to PVE before the game even starts, and it is CLEARLY for the sake of PVP players (taking the power weapons out of the equation). Overall, IMO, what NEEDS to happen is that PVP and PVE need to be completely separated, and if necessary, we need to have different loadout restrictions in PVE and PVP. This would send a clear message that they have taken our complaints over the last two years seriously and that they don't want to start the game off in a position where PVE is already negatively impacted by decisions made for the sake of PVP. I seriously doubt that is going to happen, which is why I don't see D2 in my future.

Actually Im quite happy with the change! Often I thought myself how it would be using an high RoF Auto Rifle and a low RoF Scout Rifle the same time. In PvE as well as PvP. Special or now Power weapon will be a Fusion. Auto, Scout, Fusion that was always a loadout [b][i][u]I[/u][/i][/b] wanted to use and [b][i][u]I'm[/u][/i][/b] going to use

1 ответHonestly I'm open to it. I can't tell you how many times I wish i had a hand cannon AND a scout rifle. I love both of these weapons types. They serve 2 very different purposes. Currently I run a scout with CQC sites to make sure I can handle close range threat effectively. And I don't feel like I can run hand cannon ALL the time, because in some areas a hand cannon is just not effective for the situation. (looking at you first area in The Undying Mind).

In PvP it makes perfect sense to put all the power weapons in same place. The one shot kill weapons should not be available for most of the match like it is now. PvE will make players more individual. Raid teams will not just consist of everyone using the same optimised loadout. I'm guessing the optimised raid team will have a mix of power weapons instead. Doing this makes the players feel more individual as important. I think this is a positive change for destiny 2, i think a lot of people will be eating there words after a few weeks of playing the full game.
