Dee hears nearly everything and can focus on several things at a time, which makes him a great listener, but also makes his mind a very loud and chaotic place to be. Adding conversation to the mix has been too much for him to handle, and he has allowed his ghost to speak for him from the time of his Resurrection. When Addy joined their fireteam, however, she taught him Sign Language, and he has taken to using it to communicate between the two of them and anyone else who might understand him. Formerly an Iron Lord in his youth, following the SIVA crisis Dee left Felwinter Peak and gave up his title, following Efrideet away from Earth and its wars to focus on honoring the Light in more productive ways. However he remained loyal to protecting the Tower and the City and, whenever something truly terrible transpired (Mare Imbrium for example) he returned to offer his help for however long was needed before returning to his duties at the edge of the system; after Toland’s Madness however, he returned to the tower permanently and found his place among Daybreak. Dee has always been a silent follower and a good soldier, following orders without question. He gets along with just about everyone, but he’s seen a lot of people come and go so he remains somewhat distant from his Fireteam, trying not to get too emotionally attached; with those currently on the team however, it’s difficult not to. While Merric, Laila, and Rue have been by his side for more than a century, Wylie and Addy enable his goofiness and competitiveness, and Hayden sparks his protective instincts with her recklessness and seeming fragility. It’s taken him a while to find a circle of friends he can rely on, and he’d really do anything for them.
