This is easily one of the most frustrating & game-breaking issues in the game for right now.
Hand cannons are so much fun to use ; but they all boil down to 2 things...
is it the right archetype ; & does it have Rifled Barrel...& if it doesn't, then it's virtually useless.
Yeah, if you've got a rangefinder+rifled HC then your consistency is pretty nice...
But even with just Rifled Barrel, it's tough to use...
Uffern finally has a perfect roll this week. & it's easily my favorite HC that I personally have...
Yet the range is still so much lower than the cap, & that REALLY puts a hurting on it...
Idk how they should fix it, there are numerous ways to go about it...but something's gotta give.
The gunplay is what drew me, & so many other players into this game. It feels so crispy, & nice...it's unlike any other shooter I've ever touched.
...ghost bullets literally ruin that gunplay. Losing an engagement because a shot misses, even though your reticle is directly on their face...that's got to be one of the most annoying features in the game. Makes me rage...
Personally I think they should just give HCs a base range stat for each archetype. Every Palindrome, Luna, Lord High, Loop all have the same exact damage drop-off...& Bloom is removed.
Perks like Rifled Barrel only increase the damage-falloff ranges. So you can hit 86s from a bit further away.
Consistency shouldn't fall under the perks. Weapons should be consistent on their own...
& before anyone says I just wanna snipe people..no, I don't. Damage falloff would need to be reworked, I'm not interested in being able to 3-Tap somebody at scout rifle ranges. But my gun should still be able to hit at those ranges, just not do very much damage whatsoever...
Don't know if anyone remembers ; back in Y1, you didn't even use the range perks on your weapons...there was no need for it.
Used speed reload or perfect balance on Hawkmoon...perfect balance for Thorn. With aggressive ballistics because your shots would actually land.
RNG bullets just ruin the game for me...I sincerely hope they make some changes in the next patch.
I want consistency back. I was accuracy back. I want my thumbskill to be rewarded if I can keep steady hands...but it unfortunately doesn't work like that right now, & that's why it needs to change.
edit - not interested in arguing with anyone. This is an issue I personally hold close, as someone who's been using HCs their entire time on destiny religiously.
Trashcans running a high-cal, perfect balance, counterbalance clever dragons are the only ones saying it's fine & that HCs are balanced right now. Ghost bullets affects your shots on a regular basis. Every single game that someone's using a HC, they will experience this & catch deaths because of it. There's a distinguishable difference between missing, & shots doing literally no damage...
& then there's those people, "just get closer".
When my first 2 shots land for perfect damage - meaning 86 to the head, that means I'm well within HCs intended range, & still experienced ghost shots.
Competitive players use them because of their ability to do so much damage in a single shot. Team-shots & peak-shots are why competitive players use HCs - point blank period. & before you try speaking out for those players opinions, you should actually try listening to them first. Because I have yet to see competitive player say that Bloom balances hand cannons properly.
RNG accuracy isn't balance. It's random bullshit that gets people killed every single game of crucible across all playlists.
Accuracy should be rewarded ; & it's not.
Whether it's "Bloom", Lag, "Damage Referee", "inaccuracy", "damage falloff" - doesn't matter. It could be, & probably is, a combination of all those things...but Bloom is very much in this game - & explained very well by sandbox-lead John Weisnewski himself in a Destiny PvP Podcast over a year ago when it was introduced. (Name could be spelled wrong)
Whatever the issue is ; it needs to be fixed. If my reticle is there, the shot should go there ; the end. If Damage falloff needs to be increased so it takes 4, 5, 6 shots at further ranges than so be it...I think everybody would consider that a fair trade for consistency.
edit -As far as misinformation goes ; Bloom absolutely affects hand cannons. I suggest you take a listen to Crucible Radio's podcast where John Weisnewski was their guest. He explains Bloom, Accuracy, Aim Assist & Range in great depth.

Here's another link that shows a very simple example of what I'm talking about. Skip to 32 seconds to see. https://youtu.be/bZ24eDTg_s4
Edit - also changed Title because people don't read the whole post, therefore they don't see that I explain that bloom isn't the only issue, but it's tied into a web of issues that create ghost bullets.

5 отв.Has anyone here ever fired a real weapon? Just curious.
-
1 ответThe reality is this, if bloom was on every primary such as Grasp, Doctrine or MIDA, I strongly believe everyone on the forums would agree with you.
-
2 отв.I don't know, I mean both sides have a strong argument. You can't make everybody happy though, and Bungie knows what they're doing.. in the end you just have to trust that or play something else.
-
2 отв.It is incredibly frustrating to have your reticle on a player, pull the trigger, and register no damage at all. It feels indistinguishable from straight up lag. I'm not saying handcannons should be sniper rifles, adjust the damage fall off, please by all means make handcannons "tickle" at long range if you have to. I think 1/3 of the reason you see so many pulse rifles is because they're the only type of primary in this game that feels consistent across a wide range of well, ranges.

3 отв.It's a first person shooter sin to not hit what you are directly aiming at.

5 отв.Solution: Return hand cannons to their year 1 stats.
-
The only people who think ghost bullets on hand cannons are balanced and fair are the thumbless kids who get outgunned by a skilled hand cannon user in every gunfight.
-
They need to change that...but bringing it back to year 1 range would mean scouts are useless again ass HC's will yet again just be harder hitting scouts.

6 отв.Изменено (JuiceAKAJBizz): 12/31/2016 7:00:19 PMFollow up shots are hard to recenter and only good handcannons are ones w good base range and rifled barrel...and getting one to drop w rifled barrel and rangefinder is almost impossible...I have yet to get one w rifled barrel and rangefinder and I have tons of hours played...my crucible rank is over 300 combined on my characters.... Edit- my best 2 handcannons are vendor peril and palindrone. Have yet to get a lord high fixer, eyasluna, or Imago loop

3 отв.Изменено (Zero the Remnant): 1/1/2017 4:19:41 PMRifled Barrel is not the end all be all. Unless you are seeking this HC for PVP. So don’t toss a HC because it doesn't have Rifled. Also, Omolon HCs have a passive Stability buff so that is even more reason to not rely on Rifled in my opinion. Reinforced Barrel is just as good. Contrary to popular belief. Stability is not required on HCs. I have HCs with 2 Stability that shoot, hit, & fire just as fast & consistently as their high stability counterparts. Edit: Added underlines and fixed my last sentence. Realized my statements came across partially wrong. Edited in words are in italics.

9 отв.Wouldn't the same result be had if bloom was removed and the damage fall-off increased? Wouldn't the hand cannon still do nothing at range?
-
13 отв.Everyone in this thread that says bloom is ok On a hand cannon because it keeps them balanced need to stfu. Just because you don't want to be owned by one will spraying your clever dragon, rng should not be on hit registration. What if some of your other guns bullets would just disappear based on rng. That's gotta be the stupidest thing I have ever experienced in a game.
-
Accuracy should never be RNG in a shooter.

15 отв.Изменено (SmashvilleViking): 12/30/2016 11:20:48 AM"Bungie, give me the range of a Scout Rifle with my Handcannon" That's what I read. I use TLW from time to time, and never have issues with "ghost bullets". Do you even know what bloom is for?
-
18 отв.The fact that you had to put that big of an edit in to try and validate yourself lol Bloom isn't going anywhere. If you're gonna moan about something as minor as that on the strongest primary type in the game at this point you might as well just uninstall and wait for destiny 2 bud. Sorry misusing your primary punishes you and your ego buddy. Maybe try opening up that dense empty chasm you call a head and realize you sound absolutely childish and quite frankly very dumb.

2 отв.Dude The Last Word is still beast. Shuts shitgunners down. Hawkmoon has by far the best new skins. Gun looks sick.

I didn't know about the podcast, but I had noticed inconsistent shot accuracy on handcannons. At first I thought I was just shooting badly, but they are consistently inconsistent. I used to enjoy using hand-cannon, the devil you know, lord high fixer, tfwpky, all lots of fun. Now they make me frustrated and sad.
-
4 отв.Not gonna lie but hand cannons are fine if they were to remove bloom they would need to decrease the range more to me there in a good spot and there consistent

28 отв.Изменено (Wraith xL): 12/30/2016 4:34:43 AMEvery single person who complains about this complain about it so dramatically as if you can't even use hand cannons because of it and it's such a load of crap. Hand cannons are only rivaled by high caliber rounds pulse rifles right now and that's a fact. They are the best option to use for a primary. Sure out of every 500 gunfights you might lose 3 or 4 due to missing a shot from bloom. Boo hoo. It is not broken like you all complain it to be. In fact, primary weapons actually experience bullet magnetism so the majority of the time you claim your missed shots to be "ghost bullets" it's actually just you spamming your hand cannon as fast as possible and you can't see where your sights actually are so you miss due to your aim and strafe, not because of bloom. Please stop riding streamers dícks about this and get over it. Hand cannons are fine.
-
If you aim your gun at the head, the bullet should hit the head. Anything other that that is unacceptable imo

Bloom, removal of elemental legendary primaries, whining players, flinching snipers, high RoF 0 impact pulse rifles, shotguns with arms length range, all of these things are the reason the Darkness will win! Darkness: elemental shields, arc bolts that track, psions spewing AR fire with sniper damage with 0 damage falloff and rocket range, Fallen adding SIVA to their arsenal. Axes that only spawn when nothing important is worth killing, except a bounty. What do Guardian get? Vex, kills an entire fire team in 1 mag, nerfd! Thorn, kills you long after you cut tail and ran, nerfd! Gally, able to end Skolas in seconds, nerfd! MIDA, nerfd for being annoying! Destiny, nerfd for having guns that shoot! Really expect players to take this game seriously? Right...
-
Omg, no one at Bungie is reading this. They come back in a week or two, you people need to calm down.
-
Accuracy is fine, it's actually way too high. It needs to be reduced.
