Skill based Destiny has a high enough population for it

If we had dedicated servers, SBMM all the way. As long as I'm having to deal with xX_T3l3p0rt_Sh0tgun_Xx every game, I want CBMM.
-
Going into TTK, I would've considered myself an average player. Now that a whole year has passed, I'm within the top 1% and my skills have drastically improved. Most of this is due to SBMM. However, now that my stats are considered top tier, I'm simply not enjoying my crucible experience anymore. Every game I play is against super competitive players and not to mention my teammates seem to not have thumbs and the lackluster connection. CBMM would be a great change going into ROI.

Sbmm is affirmative action that cripples bad players. Competiton breeds excellence not pandering.
I am horrible at PvP by the way but my point stands, to get better you have to verse better players.
Изменено (Ness): 8/20/2016 3:52:55 AMThis is why I hate SBMM. I got matched up with this guy as a game in progress, even after I lost several matches. This isn't the first time I got matched up against a top tier player, and I guarantee it won't be the last. Though sometimes it's a privilege to play with players like this, I shouldn't have to play against competitive players like iDrOPZ_BoDiEs every day.

Id rather get completely destroyed and knowing it wasnt bs lag, than getting destroyed by a teleporting player.
-
Sbmm because I have no issue playing people my own skill level and improving from it Also because I don't use a potato for Internet

If we had dedicated servers then I'd be all up for SBMM. But we don't, it's player to player based connection, and because we have a global player base alongside wired and wireless based connections you're going to have a lot of disparity when it comes to connection and lag. Lag is what annoys me more than anything. If a player is visibly better skilled than me I can accept that, it shows I still have a way to go and points out my weaknesses. What is unacceptable is getting shot through walls, shots/grenades/melees not registering, getting killed by Melees after I've killed someone. As it throws player skill out of the window and turns crucible matches into a lottery, as it becomes a bet as to whether you'll do any good when there's the constant risk of teleporting shotgun rushers. I get the lack of resources/staff for introducing this on Bungies part, as stuff is focussed on Destiny 2. But all they need to do is say: "We can see player frustration, but until Destiny 2 we can't address the underlying problem due to current limits on what we have. But this will be addressed by Destiny 2" And if they don't put dedicated serves in then tbh I'd see that as a major business miscalculation.

Connection should be the #1 priority when searching for a match. Nothing is more frustrating than playing in a laggy game. I do not care if I get destroyed in a match against amazing players and I go 2-17. If the connection was good and those deaths were all my fault, I'll accept it. I believe people assume that with CBMM they will be put in lobbies with just the top 1% all the time. But the majority of Destiny players are not these Crucible Gods. They are only 1% after all. A much larger portion of the population is average to below average (Although this may be slightly skewed at the moment since we are in a content drought and most that have stayed are the "hardcore" players). I actually would like my k/d ratio to reflect where I stand within the entire Destiny Crucible player pool. Not just against players of my "similar" skill. If I am better than 80% of players, I'd like to see that reflected in my games. If I am in the lower 25%, then I know I need some improvement. It is definitely a delicate balance. Bungie wants to increase the player pool in Crucible and having new players jump in and get absolutely destroyed may turn them off from continuing to try it out. I think for any new player starting out they should be put into a "boot camp" playlist. That will definitely be SBMM and will include all new players and also vets that happen to fall in their skill range (that way seasoned players that aren't very good will still occasionally be matched into SBMM games). Boot camp can last a pre-determined number of matches to let players acclimate the speed and nuances of the Crucible (20 matches, maybe more, less?). Once boot camp ends they will be introduced to the general pool of CBMM. Like I said, no easy answer here. But connection needs to take priority because especially in a P2P game, frustration will set in even if you are performing well but the connection sucks, resulting in players leaving the game regardless. As I mentioned, I prefer a loss in a lag-free match than a win in a total lagfest.

Изменено (c0ntagion): 8/19/2016 8:10:43 PMI used to think sbmm was the best and how it should be, but I realized that it should just be where connection is priority. Why? In sbmm all that happens is lag and shots not landing when they should be. Lag-Switchers rule the land, and all that's left is frustration. In cbmm there are minimal Lag-Switchers, and minimum lag. Your shots that should land will have a greater chance of landing. There will be some instances where you will get wiped out in matches due to good players, but that is just an easy fix (Git Gud). This also promotes skillful play. There will be an overall less frustration level. Please consider this post before saying one or the other is better.

Mix of both with more importance towards connection. Then introduce a ranked playlist please

Everytime I see these abbreviations I automatically think of porn.

Why don't we have a 'competitive' area of the crucible which uses SBMM primarily and then a 'casual' area which uses CBMM on its own

This has been discussed, argued about and worse yet... posted about 1,000,000,000 times already. The correct answer: nerf fusion rifles.

ARE YOU CRAZY???? WHY IS THIS EVEN A QUESTION???? OF COURSE, SBMM IS BETTER!!!!! I absolutely love that bungie expects me to carry 5 blueberries to victory, the endless matches of barely losing, and "On the bright side". Every match with me having to cover everyone left, right, and center. But what does my team do? They get to have the campfire competition with snipers and never actually kill anything. And the lag, the oh so beautiful lag. The lag is why I play this game! I love laggy hit detection and teleporting enemies. How dare you suggest CBMM! If CBMM were implemented these beautiful matchmaking qualities would disappear. This game wouldnt be destiny anymore; itd be something like an actual competitive PvP game. I would be devastated if I got placed into matches where my teammates were on my skill level and there was little lobby lag. Im sorry, but I could never support CBMM. I just love the broken system that destiny has now. May bungie never get dedicated servers! #keepdestinybeautiful

That 15% are bungie's employes

Sbmm with regions like battlefield 4 .
-
So beyond done with -blam!-ing sbmm. literally every -blam!-ibg match is a laggy sweat. I match the same fuking people every game no matter what playlist I'm in, and the latency is through the roof. I cant even play with my more average friends unless I want to lose every game.
-
I like skill based. Most of the complaints I read about are because of higher skilled players. I agree that there are connection issues but I don't think this is the prevailing problem. The only way to improve is to play against better players.
-
No option for : I dont care? Just play what they decide works.
-
I actually find CBMM to be sweater by far. It allows more top tier players into each game, and ONE top tier player can decide the whole outcome of a a game, especially when most of the players are running solo. I've seen more top heavy matches and lopsided matches since they implemented. I use to have a lot more close matches. I would say CBMM really mostly benefits the top 15% of Crucible, since they don't have to face their equals constantly, which I completely understand would get annoying. Just my two cents.

I tried to let my son play on my account yesterday, but it's frustrating for him since he just gets massacred. I'm not even that good...
-
It should be both sbmm is ok it's just alot of yellow and red bars

Изменено (Skyrender6): 8/19/2016 2:30:06 PMCBMM because it's the only reason I got to the lighthouse in year 1. Year 2's SBMM has exposed me for the scrub that I am. :-( Edit: SBMM has also made rumble an even worse experience than before... Oh well, 45 wins so far, 55 to go...

What is CBMM?
