This is a normal discussion thread about the possibilities of how to improve them.
Following the designs of Destiny... I'd say let Strike Bosses enrage into new mechanics like increased attacks or summoning more add's.
I think strikes have a lot more potential to them, but if the bosses themselves could say, "THIS IS ENOUGH!" it just adds to the idea that Guardians really are being a threat to them.
Say... for example...
When he enrages? He summons additional Centurians who attack as an attack mob. 3 normal, 1 major. Call it his neutralization team. They are aiming at mowing down the guardians who have assaulted their boss.
Let's go with the normal Archon Priest. Fallen technology suggests (and rather highly) that they can summon large amounts of technology to their aid in desperate times (wolves proving just that by rebuilding Septiks Prime), so why not flood the arena with shank or shank repeaters? They aren't THAT menacing when you are aiming at them due to their low health and sometimes can be one shot.
So that's two add based examples. Why not powers?
Taken bosses are extremely capable bosses themselves... so why not allow them a shield similar to Bracus from Court of Oryx? Kill the major enemies in the area? That shield now is down, but they can still move and attack.
Or maybe you want a more external based example? The boss, in a fit of rage, pounds his fist down, three blights suddenly spawn and simultaneously combine to form a clone of the boss. Which one is real? Which one is the one you WANT to kill? Good luck...
Two more: Vex and Hive.
Vex- Boss opens it's mouth and emits a loud blast into the air followed by a strange hymn or song. Two seconds later, thunder cracks the sky, a vex portal opens up and a perfectly shielded gate lord appears. The boss stops singing and suddenly has a perfect shield as well.
As guardians shoot either of the shields? The shield changes colors. Only two colors: white semi-transparent to red.
The trick? The gate lord IS the shield generator. Kill it first and the shield goes away permanently. Don't kill it first and it'll keep coming back, but each time it goes down it takes longer to get it back up for longer damage phases.
Hive- The hive power is somehow tied to ruins per Osiris right? Well why not take advantage of that?
When a hive enrages? It summons those stones and iIt allows all remaining acolytes to become immune so long as they are within their respective stone. If it leaves to pursue you (like it will eventually do) it takes double damage for a few seconds (because it is now debuffed) OR the hive boss yells/screeches into the air and suddenly launches a barrage of ogre energy, wizard damage orbs, or gun fire into the air which are more accurate then the normal shots.
Discuss. Like/disagree. Maybe these are only active during nightfalls or heroic strikes? What would you guys do to improve them.
