This.
That's my reaction when I come out of a match and I've put up a 5.2.
Not, "Look at how great I am!!"
But, "Where did they find these (poor) guys?"
One match on Shores of Time was so bad, that everyone on the opposing team kept trying to get to us by repeatedly funneling through the same choke points....and they kept dying, over, and over and over.
To the point, I'm asking, "What are they doing???" Just continuing to mow them down wasn't fun....it was sad.

Yea but I get the same feeling those game it seem you can not kill nothing. Hit head shot with a sniper , nothing Point blank with a shot gun, same result nothing. Thorn was a issue in crucible but at least a thorn user could be killed and the game was enjoyable. It has gotten where it isn't enjoyable now. I am not say I got the answers, what I am saying is it's broke and honestly I do not see Bungie doing anything or even caring. They do twitch feeds to promote a new game , but can not do one or even a post saying that a problem exist. To me this is unacceptable.

The game rotates (among the players) which console is acting as "host". I suspect that happens when the game tries to rotate to a player who doesn't have the bandwith to really serve as host. I see this when I play PoEs with a clanmate. The guy lives in an area with really crappy internet service (he'll be the first to admit to that), but he's a really good guy. So we all just look past the bad connetions and lag, so that we can have him around. Anyway, you can tell whenever we're playing and the game rotates to his console as host. The game has a nervous breakdown, it starts lagging so hard. One time it was so bad, I was seeing THREE different version of his Guardian on my TV. TWO that were dead, and couldn't be revived....and a third that was teleporting around the room. In addition to Cabal missles that weren't exploding, and other lag phenomena. As so as the game rotated to another console....cleared right up. Point: Until either player numbers pick back up....or Bungie goes to dedicated servers...there is a limit to what can be done. Because there are a lot of variables I nthe current situation that Bungie doesn't have any control over.

It's why SBMM as a concept needs to stay and be improved, it's just their current implementation that is awful.
-
Agree on the first. Disagree on the latter. They just need to implement it in a way that is more flexible. They need to monitor connection quality at the same time as looking for similar skill level. When connections are solid....prioritize skill. But when connections threaten to fall below the point where game play is negatively impacted.....prioritize connection and expand the pool of "acceptable" matches. So average players tend to see more skill-based matches. Players at the extremes of skill, location or playing time tend to see more connection-based matches.
-
Lack of connection prioritisation is EXACTLY why their implementation is awful.
-
But the P2P networking they use, limits their ability to do this. That's the real issue here. Not "SBMM"
