New Players Buying Their Way to Level 25 Affects Me Because...
I'm legitimately interested in how people would finish this sentence. So go ahead, give it your best shot.
The reality is that a new player skipping the early levels has exactly zero effect on your experience. Happy to be proven wrong on that but seriously doubt I will be.
Edit: Not surprisingly no one has been able to finish the sentence in a coherent way. At least in negative terms. A couple people have pointed out that it might affect them in a positive way. The Negative Nellies have two broad responses, both of which fail.
The question is how does THIS ITEM effect YOU.
All the Negative Nellies either say:
1. This item doesn't effect me but AN IMAGINARY FUTURE ITEM will effect ME. (Fail for introducing an imaginary item).
2. THIS ITEM doesn't effect me but it effects AN IMAGINARY PERSON. (Fail for introducing an imaginary person).
They really can't come up with a way that THIS ITEM effect THEM.
Edit 2: Oh! There's a new category of answer!
3. Because I leveled up the normal way THIS ITEM makes ME feel betrayed.
I guess it gets points for playing by the rules but it's just so sad. It's just too pathetic to actually merit a response.
Last Edit: It's nice that this got trending and that so many people appreciate that yeah, the buff has no effect on existing player. The sheer number of people unable to actually articulate a problem but just whining anyway is a bit depressing but what can you do?

All this hooplah about instant level 25 is rediculous. Just this past friday I deleted my warlock in favor of a third titan. I created my new titan and did only story missions SRL and two strikes and reached level 40 in 5 hours and 50 minutes play time. If people want to waste there money to do what you can get in just under 6 hours of playing let them do it. This really doesn't effect anybody that didn't use this method. You also get the thing by buying the ttk expansion anyway.

New players buying their way to level 25 effects me because I have to listen to people selfishly complaining about it as if it changes their gameplay when it doesn't. My warlock was level 10 going into TTK. I didn't want to level her. You bet your ass when I got that spark of light I used it on her. The grind was real and just getting to 20 was brutal and I wasn't doing it. My only problem with the packs are the price. If I ever wanted to remake a character screw levelling it, I've already done that shit. Though I wouldn't be buying it for that much if it was less than why the hell not save myself some time.

I personally just started a new Titan and chose not to boost up to 25 with the free spark that I got with TTK. I wanted to see how the death of dinklebot changed the vanilla experience. But anyone who wants to pay to boost just ends up funding future content... No complaints from me

I personally have depression over the fact of my grinding is just a waste, compared to plain out buying your way. I have been affected negatively, and now in depression, and I am unable to actually play destiny myself.

9 отв.The fear and general disgust for micro transactions is the fact that players could gain an unfair advantage because they have and are willing to spend extra money. When Bungie first announced micro transactions we were assured they would only ever be cosmetic items. While we have not reached pay to win, we have passed pay to look good/different and have reached pay to save time/skip content. Whether pay to win will ever transpire in this game is still up for discussion and only time will tell. What we really should be discussing is the negative effect if any this has on new players experience of Destiny and whether this addition is a small step closer to slippery slope of pay to win. But basing your stance on, "this does not directly negatively affect me so it's all good" is deeply flawed. This affects me and everyone who played first year. It makes me and others feel like levelling up my guardian in year 1 was pointless; which in turn is a negative response instead of positive. (Hurts my feelings) Also this is not an issue that stands alone. It compounds together with all the other ways year one guardians were undercut. ( the face slaps just don't stop ) Also by selling levelling and subclasses BUNGIE has legitimately affirmed that year one was a joke: a very bad joke. ( I understand BUNGIE had to purge itself of cancerous employees but that doesn't mean that year one content was also cancerous and needed purging )

I honestly don't care for new players but I hope this is as far as they are going with it. If you can buy weapons and armor i have a problem. But if some idiot is willing to spend $30 to save a weekend of gaming, then i guess i am ok with it to fund new endgame content. I also don't get why everyone complains about the "grind" in this game. It takes months to a year(s) to be doing end game raids in other mmo or rpgs. Hardly takes in anytime in this game.

Well, it would let them catch up to their friends, or just as a new player. However, they would have none of the past experience someone who went 1-25 than someone who paid for 25.

Well if a lot of people are doing it then bungie and activision will continue to do micro transaction things like this which will lead to pay to win.

The battlefield series has more progression that takes longer, more classes, more guns etc. You can buy your way to the end of each category for each class, as well as vehicles. Nobody says anything about that. You can wait until tomorrow when the supermarket is open to buy milk, or go to the convenience store and buy it now for a dollar more. Up to you
