Hear me out. Pre order numbers for Destiny were outrageous by anyone's standard due largely to the Activision marketing machine and pre sales based on Bungie's reputation. They didn't need to blow their whole wad on the first instalment because so many committed to the journey before they even played a single minute of the game. (I bought a white PS4 bundle.)
So instead they give us a gutted and glorified BETA, see what we like and don't like, and then sell it back to us in the 'actual' game, two years later when they'll actually need to convince very skeptical past, present and potential customers on the next full (game) expansion.
I'm starting to believe we've all been BF Skinnered on this one.
We may get the true Destiny we were promised on day 1. Even if it's the best game ever, it will never quite erase the bad taste in even the most staunch Bungie Fanboy, that the Machiavellian method which Activision CHOSE to take, in order to maximize ROI, was just plain shitty. You don't treat people like pecking hens looking for a random pellet. That's not cool. And it's over. Late.

As for the story? Definitely lol. Literally, there's more story to this horror story I wrote in 5th grade (it was actually kind of good) than in Destiny. It is a huge mess. I struggled hard to do the story 4 times (had 2 warlocks at one point) and I'm not kidding.

12 отв.The answer is an obvious yes. Activision is known for intentionally cutting content to re-sell it as DLC with a fancy title so that they can make an extra buck. Destiny is the biggest money grab I've ever seen in gaming. This whole thing is low. Even for Activision. And that's just plain sad. The story was supposedly more substantial at one point according to a closed door test back in 2013. The story did seem much better. Supposedly the Traveler turned out to be evil all along and it was actually enslaving humanity to fight the alien races that wouldn't bend to the will of the Traveler. THAT sounds cool right? Too bad, because Activision was like "-blam!- yo couch" and made them scrap the entire project. Activision has kinda bought out bungie at this point. They actually have Activision employees working at Bungie headquarters as we speak according to some guys I know who keep up with this shit. So you may see the Bungie logo on the case but you're playing an Activision game. Destiny is the result of corporate directive. Little to no content, tons and tons of DLC's we are REQUIRED to pay for so that we can progress that don't really expand the universe, and each DLC is the same repackaged content with a different name. this game stank of Activisions bullshit from the start. Because "OH SHIT, we can't be decent people for once and make a good game that doesn't drain our fans wallets dry for once can we?" -blam!-ing Activision. I didn't care much about them before, but ever since I saw what they did to this game I have nothing but bitter hatred for them. Least favorite game company for me

On the pecking hens thing, of course it's a Skinner box. That's what games like this are -- you grind for better loot to make your grinding for better loot easier than the last time around. Destiny is a little less disguised than most, is all. As to the question, it really depends on whether you agree that Destiny is somehow "bad." I don't. But I think there's a huge tinfoil-hat crowd here who sees conspiracy in everything Bungie and/or Activision does, and immediately assumes malice on Bungie/Activision's part (even to the extent of assuming that they're run by some sort of comic-book villain bad guys). I don't buy into that -- I don't see malice in any of it. Mistakes, sure, but nobody's out to get us here. I think most of the time they're just schmoes like me doing their job as best they can within the constraints they face, and they've turned out a game I happen to like quite a bit, so I'm pretty happy.

Yep it's all about the bare minimum with them. They make it just barely entertaining so you have to keep spending money on DLC to have actual fun with the game. If you watched that episode of South Park with Freemium games, that's basically what Activision did to Destiny. Anyone who thinks EA is the worst publisher out there needs to look at Activision & see the real devil of gaming.

2 отв.Изменено (Dao Kung Pow): 7/28/2015 5:26:24 AMThey were able to gut the game because destiny launched with virtually no competition They didn't have to compete for our attention knowing they were the only new shooter on the market for some time
-
..no because they are incapable for something better.
-
They made it just bad enough so people would like it but so they could make it better and everyone would love them

1 ответИзменено (MrYumyum): 7/27/2015 8:15:53 PMYes, because Activision has their own plan. They rather not waste their time on a game that's going into a crash course. Bungie fails to realize that their game is becoming more trash after update after updates.

3 отв.Definitely. It's just a cash cow to them. There's so many different variations and pre-order bonuses and other incentives to try and buy...some version of the game. The whole thing is just a giant mess. They cut tons of content from the original game and are slowly selling it back to us a few pieces at a time, but at the same price as the full game. The thing is, I want to get TTK. I want to keep this game around to give me something to quickly hop into. At the same time, it's just far too much. They won't lower the price because they simply don't care. We're not customers to them, or gamers, just wallets. So when TTK comes out, this game basically dies for the rest of us. Too much of it is being altered ('new' enemies in patrols, revamped strikes etc), which those without TTK will not be able to access. I get the feeling we'll be pretty much locked out of the game. I mean after all, if we're able to fight those 'new' enemies in patrols, Activision would have provided something for free. Yeah, I can see that happening.

Изменено (presc1ence): 7/28/2015 1:12:46 PMToo look good against Cod and to win back all these stupid CoD fans. Yeah acti 100% did this. Gotta tell the share-holders how your gonna stop those sales numbers from dropping. If you want proof look at the dev graveyard that Acti have caused, they seem VERY happy to kill off their own devs.
-
Not on purpose, and the potential is huge. Destiny 2 should be much better.
-
Hear me out cause this is my opinion. Activision did nothing to the game and bungie just started off badly or they worked for an ambitious thing and couldnt deliver due to reasons we dont know about. All a possibility I hope you consider mine and I hope this game goes somewhere. I for one am happy with it but I want others to be happy too. Happy gaming and if you're playing destiny today happy iron banner as well.

I do love a good conspiracy theory; especially one that's entirely plausible. Nice reference to Machiavelli.

3 отв.Изменено (A KOOL POP TART): 7/25/2015 2:51:15 PMFeels sorta like Firefly don't it? An amazing series about cowboys in space that was cancelled because Fox purposely made it fail by showing the episodes out of order and switching it to different time slots over and over again.

1 ответSee thats why fps companys shouldn't make "rpg"s leave that shit to Bethesda
-
1 ответThe thing is, they have -blam!-ed up so bad, that they might not make it that far. Also I think they have lost a lot of loyal customers even if they made a good game.
-
Density is bad enough that sometimes I wonder...
-
Destiny is a pay to play game
-
1 ответThe replies in this thread confirm that everyone is trolling. Activision purposefully made the game bad... Good lord...
-
1 ответIf you see Activision on the cover you should know right off the bat by now that the game is bad and just a cash cow using a game developers old name sake as a selling rod.
-
They wouldn't make it bad on purpose. However, they wouldn't want it to interfere with call of duty and the cash flow from it as well. So basically as long as overall profits are up they don't much care.
-
10 отв.Thing is Activision don't care, they never have. Think about it, there's four big fps franchises, Cod Black ops Destiny Battlefield Activision publish three of those titles effectively owning 75% of the market, they don't give a damn if a few hundred stop playing that's all accounted for.
-
That's a biased question. Not everyone thinks Destiny is bad. I've played more Destiny than any other game ever. I'm more than happy to pay for future DLC and expansions because it gives me more of this awesome game that I love.
-
It wouldn't surprise me if Activision put pressure on Bungie to release the game. I bet if push came to shove Bungie would rather have had another year to work on it.
