So I thought I was crazy until a few days ago, when one of my raiding team confirmed that he experiences exactly the same thing.
How widespread is this problem? What the -blam!- is even going on? The implications, from my layman's perspective, are equal parts perplexing and unsettling. Here's what's been going on for me since about the time 1.1.1 was released:
Pretty much once a day, every day, I get kicked off of the Destiny servers, and am given the so-called 'weasel error'. No big deal, everyone and their mother has gotten this at least once. But what happens immediately afterwards is much more unnerving:
1. The wireless internet connection to my XBOne is completely cut off. I'm disconnected from my home wifi network completely, despite the fact that my wifi signal continues to function perfectly on all other devices.
2. I attempt to reconnect to my wifi signal on my XBOne manually (my wifi network still appears in the list at this point, although the console no longer automatically connects to it, as it normally would). I am prompted to enter the password for my wifi network.
3. I enter the password for my wifi network. Password is rejected.
4. I re-enter the password for my wifi network, being extra careful to use the proper case and punctuation. Password is rejected.
5. Repeat step 4 again several times. Give up.
6. Perform a hard reset my XBOne (hold down power button for several seconds until the console powers off completely, then power up the system again after waiting several seconds).
7. XBOne loads up, automatically connects to my wifi network, everything is exactly the way it should be.
8. Skip to the next day. Repeat the previous 7 steps, ad infinitum.
Until I happened to mention this issue during a recent raid, I was pretty sure it was either something wrong with my XBox itself, or it was something having to do with XBox's most recent update, or a number of other things. Honestly, I was guessing.
But to hear that some other guy is having the exact same issue, makes me think that others are experiencing the same thing.
Seriously, what the actual -blam!-. Somebody smack me with some knowledge, please.
UPDATE: Wow there are a lot of you. Wasn't expecting it to be this widespread. Still seems like there's some debate over whether it's an XBox problem, or a Destiny problem (as in, did the Weasel error/Destiny cause the internet to stop working on the XB1, or did the internet stop working on the XB1, causing the Weasel error?)... to which I would say, why haven't I experienced this with any other XB1 online multiplayer games? Why do I get this exact string of issues (loss of XB1 internet connection, followed by it refusing to accept the CORRECT wifi password) consistently, and ONLY when I'm playing Destiny? I mean, it's possible it's the XB1, but it seems like an awful lot of coincidence.
Anyway, it sucks regardless. One thing that seems to work for people is foregoing wifi entirely, and 'hard-wiring' the XB1 with an Ethernet cable. If you've found another solution, please let us know!
Just For Fun: Here's a list of errors people have reported!
Baboon, Weasel, Elk, Centipede, Beaver, Cattle, Coconut, Oyster, Wasp, Beetle, Hare, Canary, Banjo, Chimpanzee, Cockatiel, Hawk, Marionberry, Vulture, Quail, Bass, Sheep, Nightingale, Drum, Caterpillar, Flatworm, Leopard... and it just goes on from there....

I've had weasel disconnect me many times. More so in the last week than ever though. It kicks me off my wifi too and it won't reconnect until a hard reset on the box, and reset my wifi. Hasn't been an issue until this last week.
-
Sounds like the wireless NIC in your xbox is dying.
-
Kept happening to me yesterday every 20 min or so and im hard wired and was all like wtf but i don't know if its from bungie or microsofts side. I just turned my xbox off and left
-
Wow. Ok so yeah I've gotten it, and each time it does in fact disconnect from live. But all I ever had to do was hard reset, not all that hell you go through...that -blam!-ing sucks...
-
Omg I thought it was just me! Weasel error, disconnect from party chat, lose access to live services, correct password rejected, hard reset fixes the problem!
-
1. here is your issue. hard wire your console. this should help quite a bit.
-
Same problem here and it's always way worse during iron banner week. I noticed if I run a hardwire to it then it solves it. But it's not a permanent solution in my case
-
My buddy has to disconnect from his wifi then reconnect every time he wants to play or else this same thing happens.
-
I wonder if Bungie will ever acknowledge this thread...
-
This just happened to me.
-
I can confirm that this can also happen on hard-wired. My goto trick to get "unweasel-ed" asap is to switch to or from whichever connection, accompanied with the pinhole router reset. My xb1 is actually always placed at an angle to get easy access behind, and a nametag right beside router, as spring is here and I reckon more weasels a commin. Seriously bungie, this reminds me of pre super nintendo days.

Happens to me too, pisses me off
-
It's really annoying got this twice last night. Takes out my entire connection.
-
The exact scenario has happened to me, and to my wife's XB1. They are side-by-side, and have not had the problem at the same time, which really makes it hard to understand. It's frustrating to see my wife playing while I am told I cannot connect, and vice versa...
-
Wifi will never be as stable as hard-wired, is a cable not an option for you? Are these problems mainly/only for people on Wifi?
-
It might just be xbone

Same problem here and it's always way worse during iron banner week. I noticed if I run a hardwire to it then it solves it. But it's not a permanent solution in my case
-
Lol this happens to me and my friend all the time, we call it "getting weasled"
-
I have the exact same problem. I just head for my xbox to do the hard reset as soon as I know I'm about to be kicked. It's a real pain in the ass and it's all on Destiny's side. Nothing you can do for now.
-
Same problem. 1. Weasel hits 2. I just automatically turn off the Xbox, unplug the power cable. 3. Wait 30 secs. 4. Turn back on. 5. Reconnect the WiFi. Done. But if i don't do those steps: 1. Weasel. 2. Can't log in. 3. Lost WiFi 4. Won't take my password. It will not connect until I do all of the 5 steps above. Weird and annoying. And it's only on this weasel error. Nothing else. It doesn't happen with any other games, and none of my other gadgets lose connection. So I know it's not me. I even got a weasel error when my son is playing on his room online with the 360. Annoying.

Изменено (Sorana3): 3/16/2015 9:40:52 PMCan confirm this is a problem. I experienced this several times a night during the previous Iron Banner. The only way to fix it was by restarting my Xbox One. Glad to see at least it's pointing towards a problem with Destiny itself and not my system like I was fearing. I should be more shocked that Destiny can cause that to happen...but I'm not. It's just another thing to add to the list of Destiny's current problems. NOTE: This is literally the only game that has caused this problem to happen.

Bumping for exposure. I am somewhat relieved it isn't my hardware Xbox or router that's the problem. But that leads to the annoying bug still being here. I have also noticed that certain activities cause the error more often. Notably -daily mission -in que for Roc after completing one prior Anyone else notice any patterns?

Bump for exposure

Exact same problem, only with Destiny...FFS

I am also experiencing this exact same thing!? Bungie!? Fix this please!! I think this is a "Xbox one Destiny" related problem be use I own the ps4 version as well! And re entry got the Xbox one version due to more friends playing it on that platform! And loving it just like I did on ps4 but this was never a issue on the ps4 version?? Unless the recent update is the issue and since then I haven't played the ps4 version of the game...only the Xbox one version..that being said if it is the recent update that caused this on destiny servers as a whole between Xbox and play station... It will be noticed because from what I have read so far, Microsoft's Xbox one is a target of this error... And it's HUGE!! to the point it kicks you off of your own wifi and doesn't let you log onto your router saying the password is incorrect!! That is some powerful error to cause Internet failure on the console! I love Destiny and Bungie, but this needs a major fix and fast because I now know I am not the only one!! Since I also thought I was nuts to!!or my Xbox one's wifi internally was messed!?

Same exact thing happened to me today.
