Because I want to see my stats, and honestly, I think it's time for Bungie to move on.
Marathon, as a universe, is simply more interesting than Destiny ever was.
Destiny had mystery in its early days, but the original 2014 campaign failed to tell a coherent story or introduce characters that players could genuinely care about. The gunplay was great, the enemy designs were memorable, and the art direction was fantastic, but the world itself never felt believable. As the years went on, the tone became increasingly soft, and I found myself caring less and less about the human characters. Most of them never really engaged me.
Marathon, on the other hand, gives you just enough information to keep you invested. The mystery feels intentional. The world feels stranger, darker, and more intriguing. I'd still like to see the factions have a greater impact on gameplay and for Bungie to push the story elements further, but even now, the Shells are more interesting to me than almost any human character Destiny has produced.
For me, Destiny died a long time ago. Back in 2014, I was waiting for a story that never truly arrived. No matter how much lore was added later, the universe never recovered from that first impression.
What I'd really like to see now is Bungie fully embrace Marathon. Give the forums a Marathon-themed overhaul, let players show off their Marathon statistics and progression, and start building a community around Bungie's future instead of its past.
And yes, I want to see my stats.
