You dont need to solo it. It has matchmaking for its standard difficulty.
Its actually not that bad in a team.
Big suprise, this multiplayer game isnt bad if played multiplayer

Its not a solo node, its a private node. Its so you dont find randoms. Just because it doesnt search for others it doesnt mean its for solo, its for people who dont want randoms. Sure you might wanna do it solo but its also there for duos.
-
Did you watch the dev stream? They legitimately talk about that node being for people who want to explore. It’s even called “The Nether: Explore”. It’s for people who want to do it at their own pace. The game, for some reason, suggests you do that one over the matchmade version first. On top of that, they talked about the balance for solo for a few minutes as well, they heavily implied that solo was fully viable. Only for the activity to actually be worse than dragging your feet along shards of glass
-
It is viable its just not optimal. Its reccomended because exploration means you can find the secrets and learn the layout but it doesnt mean its whats best. Trials as a 3 stack is recommended because you have communication between your team but its not whats best because the enemy team is the same. Whats reccomended and whats optimal are different, you also need to remember that Bungie doesnt understand their own game.
-
Oh okay, so Bungie is just suggesting people do the exploration node for the first time (many of them being solo players loading into try the new season) knowingly damning them to an extremely unfun, unoptimal experience. That sounds a lot better.
-
Because its not that bad. You had a bad experience because you chose to try it solo first. You then complained about doing it solo when you were not made to do it solo. Ill defend a company if theyre arent actually in the wrong this time (for once).

It’s an hour long core seasonal activity that doesn’t have an increased drop rate, has the worst puzzles I’ve ever personally seen in a video game, and requires you to spend 20-30 minutes simply running around. I’m sorry, but in a game that’s built off power fantasy, a FPS of all games, why am i wasting half of an activity running from Point A to Point B and then wasting my time solving a puzzle that boils down to “these orange sacks that are prominent in 90% of hive tile sets are the solution”? The puzzles are so idiotic that they quite literally can’t give anyone clues, because the puzzle is figuring out what the -blam!- Bungie wants you to do.
-
Drop rates are great when playing the activity im getting a weapon drop every couple minutes. Its not an hour long mission, its 30 minutes max and can easily be put down to 20 with good movement and builds. The puzzles are just normal Destiny puzzles. Of course the puzzle is figuring out what Bungie wants you to do, thats what a puzzle is, a problem you need to solve by learning what to do (most of the time its pretty obvious) Overall you had a bad experience because you went in solo to a multiplayer game.

Bungie: we balanced this mode specifically so solo players could still have fun Solo players: this mode is unfun You: wow it’s because it’s not meant to be soloed The boot you’re licking is squeaky clean, mate. Form an original opinion for once in your life
-
Lol you keep making the same statement over and over and I’ve disproven it every single time. Bungie themselves specifically said they were going to balance it for solo. Keeping up? They did not. It is one of the most dreadful activities in the game solo. “Uhhh but optimal” of COURSE IT IS NOT OPTIMAL. It is also not BALANCED. Doing it solo is NOT FUN. Video games should be FUN. Every other seasonal activity WAS FUN. The Nether PUNISHES you for NO REASON. It is NOT FUN. And NOT BALANCED. Hopefully that got through that thick layer of elitism ignorance clogging your information receptors.
-
Fair point, too bad Bungie had a dev stream exploring the Nether and specifically talked about how they balanced it specifically for solo players. If it was only meant for teams, Bungie wouldn’t have wasted time balancing it for solo players, now would they?
-
“Uhhh just because it’s balanced for it doesn’t uhhh mean it’s optimal” of course not, 90% of this games content is more optimal to run parties than solo, doesn’t change the fact that Bungie explicitly said they balanced it specifically for solo and then the solo balance is utter garbage.
