What does playing since the beginning have to do with anything?
That they're overused? Like how Cabal drop pods are still a thing and is hated? Bungie can't be bothered to CODE NEW ENEMY SHIPS
Weak sauce. If everyone shoots it, it’s down very quickly.
Drop pod landings are marked. You get squished it’s your problem. Happens to me all the time in lower end content because I’m not paying attention. It’s a non issue.

1. Not everyone knows you can, you can't destroy Skiffs or other enemy flying vehicles, people who shoot at them and see they can't be destroyed won't bother shooting Threshers unless they see it has a health bar
2. Drop pods have a faintly visible yellow ring on the ground, tell me.. How often are you looking at the ground? Now tell me, how much time does bungie give you to react as soon as you see it? Answer: not enough to get away. Specially with how it DOESN'T MATTER regardless because the ring is smaller than the pod, the pod itself has a wider "damage on impact" radius than the pods frame itself (the whole "hitbox is bigger/smaller/different than what it's on/around/under/over/etc" coding stuff, eg. Elites in Halo being better than Spartans in pvp because of that) so trying to get away even by dodging etc will not matter.
What bungie needs to do is turn the ring brightness to 11 AND make the ring show up weeeeeell before the pod scripting even occurs by at least 7+ seconds, turn it from yellow to red when times almost up. Everyone has died to those things, even while being on the move etc. But they don't care to just revamp these vehicles, etc to be better.
